They had a public event in Britomart yesterday. Been getting around the grass roots clubs.

But yeah I would have thought with an American owner, who said he would be bringing over some staff from his Las Vegas Blacks Knights NHL franchise, there would have been alot more marketing razzamatazz stuff. Some Vegas glitz & glamour, and an ex EPL marquee or two.

Maybe they have some sparky stuff up their sleeves for game day. Aka the Warriors first game in 1995 with helicopters and the like. Looks like it will be a big crowd for the Roar game.

Not saying it is the right thing

But

11 of the 20 premier league shirt sponsors are gambling organisations

In the prem if you have a gambling sponsor you're legally required to sell jersey's with no sponsors on them at all since so many young people watch it. So it could mean the Jafas get no sponsor jerseys which is cool. Then again Idk if the APL have that same rule

There's a big move here to ban bookie advertising in sport outright. Gambling is a big problem here in the UK, being closely associated to it's football advertising.

Good numbers for a week or so out. Aucks AFC have done well in the getting out into the public eye over the last few months so visibility has been good.

I was saying to someone the other day that having been in Auckland for 2 years now, I have seen nothing about the Auckland team beyond what has been available nationally (TV news and Papers).

I am sure that there has been some stuff going on, but I have not seen it.

Well they weren’t even an entity for at least one of those two years.

FK me the way some of those investing carry on you would think its the first time there has been a professional football team in NZ offering pathways for young Kiwis. For all their sake i hope like shark it dosnt go the way of the last two efforts up there. Only time will tell if they are the real deal.

And the hard work done by the Nix to make the A League so viable and interesting here.

Our owners jumped through a lot of hoops to get the relationships and rules in place to help NZ get a second team.

I kinda like the idea of the Nix being owned by mostly locals. In saying that would have been nice to see Brown put his money into the Nix would have been a nice symmetry ex player becomes part owner.

Dont say that to loudly still a lot of hate out there about some of those decisions and some who wouldnt cross the road to watch A League because of it.

Wondering if, with the complaints about Kepa, Bournemouth are wishing they’d held onto their recent signing, rather than released him to play the kiwi derbies.

Sounds like Paulsen won't be at Auckland more than a season.

“He’s (Paulsen) a great young goalkeeper, a great boy and he wants to do well. He wants to improve and get better.
He’ll be back to Bournemouth probably next year so we’ll make the most of the time that he has here.

Oh man, I’m so conflicted.

I wanna like Auckland FC, to the point I had a dream we went to an away function to watch them.

But also Corica and McFlynn are some of my least favourite opponents and damned if I’m letting them off being who they were!

And being honest so far the Port guys have fit in with that too.

I’m getting aware that both my caps are blue now too. Which used to be a primarily Japanese football colour, but someone has sent me an Aces one and that’s very close.

But I really like the Springs location and the idea of an 18k seater is great. Only problem is the same as here. You get a big game there it will sell out in advance and catch you out. Happened to me twice here.

Hope they can get the stadium done in a year or two. Again- cash determination and hopefully a well known site (with all the water flow considered!)

I wonder who after Paulsen who will be the first real transfer Judas. Be gutted if Gothard went there tbh. Always enjoyed his picking up the odd yellow!

Football soon! Hope it continues to be covered over here.

Not sure if im making things up but i thought the A league had some rule about the waving of National flags if so wonder if that could change how they do things.

It does although it seems fairly loosley policed.
I'd explect any Palestinian or Israeli flags to be seen as controversial.

Iirc National Flags of players are allowed. So they can burn an Israel flag when City plays them ...

Had wondered in my foggy memory of games from the past seem to recall someone at some stage either asked to stop waving or having it taken from them a flag of some sort. ( then again could be imagining it)LOL Have seen various banners taken down though.

Hey Fellow Aucklanders. A few of us lads were talking last night about creating a small but proud section of supporters of the port bay 22! who want to show off what being a Jaffa and New Zealander uniquely means to you and I, without the tall poppy syndrome. This small section of us “The Paddock” aim to preserve a grassroots culture to our active support area and incorporate some of the funny things we all love about Auckland.

From nights on Karangahape, Big Ben pies & a dart, lion reds & a slap and kiwi classics from our forefathers. Bring your gumboots, mullets, lion red apparel, stubbies. Yes Kiwi sport culture has always been full of tall poppy’s but the port will change that and regardless I’m still always proud to be a Jaffa and kiwi.
