Also on the verge of signing with NYCFC, so might be an option for a Heart guest stint to bridge the seasons.

If Lampard signed for the Nix, I think i would have to move home, effective immediately.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I think your banking on them knowing who Lampard was, which is unlikely at best

For those saying Chris James is a cock, I've seen him in interviews on Crowd Goes Wild and that 4.4.2 web show by 3 Sport and he seems cheeky, but super funny. When Brockie ripped him out about having no club, he responded by saying at least he can hit a penalty. He seems like the joker in the team, and maybe a tad immature but everyone else was laughing too. I think on ability alone he should be able to find a club easy. Would still love him at the Nix, but with McGlinchey ever more likely to come, I just can't see us signing another mid. Just goes to show how stupid re-signing Lia and Muscat is.

Wow. This is awesome that the A-League is now seen in a higher regard and a definite option for players. Welnix better not miss out on the party! Rodriguez would be amazing!

Fuck no, we dont want swp here. Shaun Wright-Phillips. Also known as the Headless Chicken amongst QPR fans. Puts in lots of effort running around in circles without actually achieving anything. Couldnt hit a barn door from 10 feet.

All the talk is that he will be signing for NYCFC, so why would the City Group help another A-League team?

Given the MLS' history of getting involved in big-name player moves (such as deciding that Dempsey went to Seattle) I wouldn't be surprised if they have told NYCFC they can't have both Villa and Lampard, which they can do due to the way the league is set up, with clubs and players actually owned by the MLS itself, etc. I actually would not be surprised if Lampard goes to Orlando and then gets loaned to Sydney under the same kind of deal as Villa's.

All these other transfer movements whilst great for the A league and will allow me to watch quality players is mightily depressing on the other hand as a Phoenix fan.

It is like it is Christmas day, you are all excited and you are opening up your presents, which are beutifully wrapped only to find a shite gift inside that is broken and doesn't work.

Yeah, our presents wind up broken because John Banks insisted on cutting them all in half before wrapping them.

As far as i'm aware Villa's 10 game guest stint with MelbC falls outside of the salary cap as a marquee. A-League rules permit just one so Lampard would in ineligible to join reagrdless of the MLS situaton? Unless he falls within the salary cap which won't happen lol.

Duff is apparently within the cap, therefore city have the Marquee spot open. Short term marquee?

I think we need to stop dreaming about players like that. Unless Gareth loosens his purse strings and says he will have a marquee the best we will get are Sunderland under 21 players.

At the risk of sounding like JD, we should be aiming higher, or if you like 'pipe dreaming'.

Look at the quality of players that have come out to the HAL purely in name only. Yorke, Heskey, Fowler, ADP.... Ok they are 'big names' that did not necessarily do it but the point is, clubs dared to aim high. We should too. I'm not saying go after a big name for the sake of it but why not try to target a player that is quality or perceived quality. Yes Gareth has said this and Rob has said that but I also think they need to take a serious look around at the level of recruitment that some clubs are doing. MCFC, Sydney and Perth look to be better teams this year and those were the clubs we knocked about with at the same part of the table. At some point, if you throw enough mud at a wall, a bit will stick so we should try to aim high for our import slot in the hope that someone like Ifill says 'yeah, why not'.

If I were Ernie, I'd target every single striker on that list and throw them a bone. The chances are high they will all say no but if you get one that says yes....

How did that work out for Yorke, Heskey, Fowler and ADP? Those are hardly shining examples of why we should fork out for a big name. I'd say that only Yorke had any real impact in terms of what the team achieved.
