Krishna's gonna have a huge season.

Not a Krishna fan but picking him to have a great season with 8+ goals

8+ goals wouldn't be a huge season from Krishna if he is going to be playing 27 games.

It would be if he gets 6-8 assists and the team as a whole scores 50 goals.

Doesn't that depend on which position he plays in? If Ernie plays him as a full back (or goal keeper even), 8+ goals would be huge...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I spouted that line a lot last year and it got thrown back in my face by Krishna quite nicely.

Hopefully some more humble pie will be on the menu this season.

Half a good season does not a superstar maketh.  He needs to produce consistently this season

I wasn't proclaiming him to be a superstar but considering what I thought he would produce, it's about 1000% more than I expected. I don't think I am the sole one on that front either.

Zing.... yes its funny how people can be wrong but quite adamant, at one point, they are right. Suppose it also shows the majority are not always right.

True but this is currently our top team:

               Powell

Weemac   Bonevacia  Krishna

       A-Rod     Riera

McGlinchey's best season was when he scored 6 goals for the Mariners. He has never scored more than that. Bonevacia got 4 last season. A-Rod and Riera have never scored for us. Let's say Powell scores 10 goals for us and Krishna gets 8 goals. That only adds up to 28 goals. We then need to find another 17 goals to get up to the 45 we scored last year. Obviously, this is why we need a top quality striker but even if we get someone better than Powell we still Krishna to score because McGlinchey probably won't and Bonevacia might.

If we're playing our 3 at the back with the 2 'wing backs' then that mid/attacking set up will be looking at a bit different.

We had 12 different goalscorers last season. Doesn't make sense to get angsty about where the goals will come from and ignore that fact.

Sure. All I'm trying to say is that we need Krishna to score goals which I think we can agree isn't very profound.

I wonder if Boxall is pissed off that he spent years bench-warming or playing out of position here and then the moment he leaves Ernie switches to 3 at the back

Not that it actually messes with your point too much... but didn't A-Rod score against West Ham. Cracker from outside the box if I remember. A bit of a shame he didn't replicate in the a-league season though.

surely he was aware of that at the time of his contract negs and left for more money

Maybe, but even if he was it would still annoy me if I was in his situation.

The club apparently tried to make a case for him to stay - you'd imagine that if a formation change was in mind that would have been mentioned.

Anyway, the way things are going on SA he might be back sooner rather than later.

There is merit to that idea as a T-Shirt however. Some kind of 'Merricks's Mob' logo........ Would need to be done in a way so it does not reference Mongrel Mob but its actually not a silly idea.

Krishna probably gone at the end of the season then, assuming the +1 is taken up for Rodriguez. All other foreign players are here for 2 season, imagine Ernie would want a foreign spot (or two) to work with at the end of this season.

So has he mentioned the good Lord, His son Jesus Christ or their insubstantial friend the Holy Spirit yet?

Wouldn't it depend on how well Krishna goes this year; if and when he is eligible for kiwi citizenship; whether we sell one of our other imports before their contract expires; and whether the FFA change the number of import slots available?

it's a bit early to be talking about letting him go yet

He is a Christian? We have to organise a protest immediately, he has 1000s of years of history to answer questions about!

He was applying for residency in May, so add another 5 years on to that. https://twitter.com/SimonHampton9/status/543218958384394242

doesn't make sense. Isn't this the guy who turned down a championship team as it may impact on his ability to do his time and secure permanent residence (which happens two years after residence)

Someone's wrong here
