Interestingly CCM are already starting to renew next seasons memberships on their website.   We've still got the "share the love" banner on ours.

That GCU figure isn't hugely suprising to me, to put it in perspective some of the bigger teams are a chance of getting a higher crowd figure in one game than GCU are in the entire season!

I'm glad Caroline had such a great time in Auckland. Your food and service down there must be really really crap if aucklands cold burgers and half an hour queues were excellant
I lashed out today and got the kids some chips.

$4.50 for a handful of chips.  Daylight robbery!  I took some tomato and tartare sauce and 4 paper napkins to try and claw some value back.

For on/off situation the week leading up to the game and the weather, I think the crowd was reasonable.

Phoenix has great attendance numbers, especially compared with the NZ Knights. Sometimes attendances above 30,000, that's amazing!

If you had asked the caterers opinion, you clawed back $1.50 worth of cost there J82, putting the cost of the actual food at a more reasonable $3.00 for the serving.  (YAY!)
In the real world, at the cost they would have purchased in bulk from suppliers
....you probably got 20c worth....if you were lucky. (sigh.)

True story about a cup of Tea at the last game that was freezing.... I rocked up to the counter and having previously been poisened by coffee at the stadium, I thought a Cup of Tea... they cant make that terrible, so I asked for one white tea please, whereupon bimbo one turned to bimbo two and asked "do we make white tea?" bimbo two said I think you just put milk in it!

Anyone else concerned at the crowds with all this marketing that's been happening.? Under 10k when 20k was reported is bad.

It wasn't bad for what was seen as a nothing game I thought.

Friday nights crowd will be interesting.

Anything less than 20k will be disappointing.

We need to get the buzz around Wellington back to what it was last time. This means extending Fever Friday to be 5 days long. This means telling every single person you know that there is a home playoff on Friday night. And most of all, we need to play well to get everyone coming back for more next season.

Not too concerned about the crowd.  The casual punter would have likely realised  that there is a more important game already locked in for next week so probably would save their cash for then.

IRRC from the 09/10 season our last home game was a 'win and we get a home playoff' so that wold have created a bit more of a buzz than a mostly nothing game tonight.

Why didn't they plug Dane Rumble into the stadium sound system? His own gear was absolute crap unless you were directly in front. Good show, just piss poor sound quality.

I hear what you're saying but it's easier to sell the idea to your friends to go along and support the Phoenix when they're doing well.  2 losses in a row it's going to be tough.

I'm picking about 15k for Friday. There just isn't the same novelty value as 09/10. Also not the same momentum of flying into the play-offs with 3 straight wins, as we did then.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't try. If they don't know much about the Phoenix, I'm not gonna tell them we just lost twice. Problem solved.

Disappointing that the game is on a Friday. A Sunday game would give us two extra days of promotion and ticket sales. I think we should be able to get 20k to the stadium though. We would have probably got an extra 5k if we had just beaten the top team in the competition.

Loving those figured pulled out of thin air!

If a butterfly flaps its wings, do we get more or less fans to the game on friday?

Question - Will the Nix pull more people on Friday night than the Canes on Saturday night?

Problem being the casual puter (more lkely a rugby fan) may have to decide which game to take the family too. As I doubt most will be able to afford both in this economy?

It would sux if the canes pull more on Saturday playing the Cheetahs...

Masters Grade aint no run in the park on a Saturday...

Heard on the radio that Canes tickets were starting at $19 for adults on Saturday so I think we may have an uphill battle with the cheapest Phoenix ticket almost double that amount.

If you just want a dress up one, then I guess it is whatever the going rate is in Vivian Street. If you want a real one then it is probably about 3-5 years depending on how underage she is.

Spot on.

Generating interest in the A-League (not just Phoenix) and making it a desired/followed/cool thing is the real challenge. Not well served by NZ sports populists (they think of themselves as journalists and "presenters") at the moment as they are either largely ignorant and/or aware that deviating from the safe options (Rugby, NRL, trad olympic sports) is risky. Basketball faces similar issues.

So hugely encouraging (46%!), and as hard as it is to say, the likes of Harry Kewell help immensely in this particular battle.

I know, I know, its serious!
