Crowds - The thread of Australian whining

hey guys, perhaps someone can enlighten me. I was under the impression that the parking at the stadium was going to be $10 this season. When I got there some guy said that they had been told that it was $30 after 4.30...can some let me know what the deal is because I certainly saw cars turn around and leave the stadium when this happened

$10 Car parking at Westpac Stadium up to 30 minutes prior to kickoff (limited numbers).

Excuse generator:
  • 3 games in 3 weeks? Game fatigue
  • Seen one seagull, you've seen them all
  • Not enough music and half-time entertainment
  • Stopped going since they got rid of the bouncy castles
  • I'm waiting for the charity shirt match

Yeah but how are we going to get these folk interested?

What can the Fever do? I mean I love the app, it's been a great bit of kit,  but I doubt if it's bought in that much funding. Do we start a subscription?

Guess Ballane wouldn't be interested?

Remind me again why someone would pay for a phone app when they dont use a compatabile phone. Then again why let the facts get in the way was NEVER about the price.

Hey, where WERE the bouncy castles, my 3yr old was devastated, and compensated by raising and slamming down the yellow seats for the whole game.

I don't think a 5pm Sunday kickoff helped matters either....

Wait until we have the 7pm games!! Will be even worse...
Especially for us out of towners.

I'm waiting for the day when they have a 10am kickoff on a Tuesday and then complain about the lack of public support

And remind me again why you had to kick up such a fuss about the app? Fair point if you can't use it don't buy it, but why go off about it?

I was thinking of the halftime "entertainment" it's pretty woeful really. I don't know why they can't just have a few 5 a sides with local teams. If anything it would get them used to playing in front of crowds, as well as getting families along to watch. Can't be any worse than watching 3 less than sober blokes try and score a goal.

Agreed. Even if it is the ball kids or flag kids. Pissed punters missing open goals from 10 yards out is a long way from entertainment in my book.

How is this for a novel idea... Half time, a fifteen minute break from the Helter skelter of a gripping football match,  a time for quiet reflection, a chance to sit down and discuss the half with whoever is standing next to you or behind you, a chance to take a much need piss, a chance to stock up on overpriced beer, a chance to buy some cold stale hot food, before returning your attention to the field, ready to cheer your team on once more.

Nahh sod it lets get some dimwit DJ who has never been to a football match to talk about Foreskins and watch retards try and kick a football instead.

If you had called the dj that plays the music during game play a retard, I would have completely agreed with you.

having zm do the half time "entertainment" is daft - some think as shit radio muppet who isn't even a dj he's the walk around town guy and give free stuff away - the challenges are poorly thought out and even more poorly explained - besides the fact the crowd often have no idea what's going on due to poor sound quality - like mst I'd ratehr we had the kids playing a game in front of the zone - those were the days.

Half time entertainment doesn't bother me that much, too busy tweeting to be honest.

I thought the pre-game was a bit of a shambles partly because of lack of the usual songs. One of the reason the Zone was going to turn up earlier this season was to get chanting going before kick off, playing unfamiliar music over it ruined that. Someone needs to start using their privileged positions to have a word in the ear of the club about it.

Permalink Permalink

They can do whatever they like at half time, what they do is probably targeted at other groups than me...just no music during the game thanks....especially over the top of chanting.

Best way to get crowds is to WIN very often. Worked for the Breakers. They are no longer top dogs this year and  are getting smaller crowds. Such is the nature of fickle sports fans.

Whats with the DoomPost coverage?. Turned to the back page Monday morning to get my Nix fix....zippo. Match story was buried 3 pages in and we got as big a write up as the Tee Dub game. I hope the club and Doompost kiss and make up. They may be C**ts but we need them as they are the messengers of Phoenix stuff to the city. Piss poor match publicity means less public knowledge means less interest means smaller crowds

the doompost has been anti nix since day one, or very early on, I'm guessing it has to do with one Terry S not paying a bill or soomething, or could even have something to do with the Kingz or Knights, I doubt anyone really knows but at the end of the day the dopom post as our local/national paper is letting NZ football and the nix down - they write very little positive stuff and if they do is shrouded in negativity. Not that we need a rara swaud for a paper but a fair deal would be nice.

What articles aren't fair? Mostly the Dom Post just reports the results of games - there is actually very little (or nothing) in the way of analysis there. What should they say positive about the Phoenix when they aren't talking about results?

Halftime entertainment has nothing to do with crowds either. Who really goes to a 90 minute football match to watch ten minutes of people trying to kick a ball at a crossbar?

To busy out having a life shortner to bother with half time entertainment, and really do wonder why they bother.

Have thought why they just dont let those kids who stand with the flags at the beginning of the game have a kick on the ground instead of holding that bloody A League logo down.Would be a big buzz for them instead of being turned into a helicopter on one of our windy days.

Can we make this happen? Can we contact the Nix board? Much better entertainment and it's a great stage, moment and experience for the kids.

A problem would be that sponsors get that time to do competitions or whatever. But perhaps they could have the kids on one half and the sponsors stuff on the other.

Match this Saturday 15.12.13,  5:30pm. Predicting a crowd of 4900.

Excuses, Too late, too early, too wet, Too hot, Too cold, food poor, food expensive, Beer Crap, Beer expensive, To close to Christmas,  Public Transport Crap, Parking Expensive, Bag Searches annoy me,  Security warnings drive me nuts, concourse concrete too hard, not allowed to smoke in stadium, people are allowed to smoke outside stadium, Nixie Chicks, Halftime entertainment crap, Seats too yellow, Stripeys have too many stripes, We don't get to take our shirts off. Possession based football is boring,  No Pidgeons any more, We are second bottom.
