I reckon if we win the remaining 8 games, we'll get 2nd place.

Perth are jumping up the ladder with their win streak, and Smeltz has been in decent form.

We need to make the game in Adelaide a good one for us, as we can't rely on teams to keep losing.

Perth seem to be the only team not doing us any favours recently.

Bloody hell dont you go turning on us.

Adelaide away - winnable, (3 point)
Roar at home - also winnable thhey are struggling (draw a min) (1 point)
CCM away - will be tough draw would be nice
Sydney away - tough but they are beatable (1 point min)
CCM home - top of the table clash (hopefully) with our home form (win 3 points)
Heart away - lets crush them 3 points
Victory away - tough but beatable (1point)
CCM home - tough again last game of the season (1 point)

we play CCM three times in the next 8 games so a real tough run, but playing like we did last night we can expect to make a good effort - especially with the away form issues seemingly figured out. Given we may not win or draw all the games I'm picking from the enxt 8 games at least 4 wins (12 points) 2 draws and 2 losses = 14 points. so we fininsh on 44, which should lock us in 3rd at least.

Huh, we've already played CCM once (at home and lost1-2) so we only play them 2 more times.  I think you've got a CCM home game confused with Gold Coast United.

I wish Adelaide had taken that. Too many teams compressed right in behind us to feel 'comfortable' about it. Mind you we have risen to 2nd so.... For a team that is 'boring' (I think Paul Lewis said, only 3 teams have scored more than us. Not bad for a team without a 'goalscorer'.

Regardless of the recent form of all the teams, with 8 games (max 24 pts) to go there is no room for needlessly dropping points.  ALL teams below us can still reach the play offs at our expense and only GCU would appear to be out of it.

Aim for 4th, anything above is a bonus.

In an odd sort of a way that has been one of our strengths this year, with goals coming from a number of players all over the park. As you say, 4th top in terms of goals scored, but our top goal scorer is 12th on the list and we have 4 scorers in the top 25 which is more than any other team.

Not sure how you got CCM 3 times we have already played them once, think one of them might be a GCU game. One potential positive is if CCM have already wrapped up Minor Premiers before their last game that might not want to risk injuries and play an understrength squad. I dont think any team finishing in positions 3-6 will have an easy play off as there isnt much at all between these teams, so finsihing in the top 2 would be huge.

You can see that the top 3 there have benefited from draws in the other games. It really is quite glaring actually.

That pretty much as I see it too. Including the Heart win. yea yeah they're close, but to see Harry "disgusted" again would be for the LOL's.

Did anyone else here Mel laugh as she said Harry's name when introduced him last night for the interview.

I actually laughed out loud.

I want the Tards to be 3 nil up with ten to play and for the Heart to come storming back and equalise deep into injury time.

It would be weird not to, each win helps the Phoenix. Except when we play them of course.

If I understand things correctly there is no difference for us, in terms of the play-offs, between finishing 1st or 2nd. I think first automatically qualifies for the ACL - this is not relevant to us. I guess finishing 1st you also get bragging rights and a trophy (?) and prize money (?) but you still end up playing 2nd home and away for direct entry in to the final and you also get a second life if you lose the home and away series.

So, obviously aside from when they play us, best for us if CCM spank their opponents in the remaining games of the season.

Aside from Perth, who I think are a real threat, other teams results really have gone our way over the last few weeks - long may that continue !

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

It would be nice to have the 2nd leg being the home leg, would save a bit of cash as wouldn't have to travel to Australia to hopefully see us make the Grand Final, then have to travel again possibly for the Grand final.

But yeah I'd rather CCM beat everyone but us, as ultimately from a team point of view we aren't likely to catch them, but what is likely to happen is someone else overtaking us.

Allegedly

Even with taking into account the benefits of coming first, I think CCM are too far ahead for us to even consider a possibility of coming first. So CCM beating everyone and moving further away at the top is good, means we will have a better chance at 2nd place.

And yes, the 'Premier's' receive a trophy, it is the lid for the toilet seat.

Gold Coast wins against teams in the top 6, and draws against the others in the bottom 4 too please.
