Not only that, we need another 30 pts from 18 games to reach a target of 34 pts (which is the average pts required to make the play-offs in a 27 game season). The most pts we have ever got from the last 18 games is 31, the average is 25.

Visually the 13/14 trajectory (slope) looks similar to 09/10 and 11/12.

Yeah, looking good for 11 pts required from 9 games to get to the target of 34 for the play-offs.

Only twice in 6 seasons have we failed to pick up at least 11 pts in the last 9 games (07/08 & 12/13) and our average for the last 9 games is 13 pts. So based on past history we should now make the play-offs.

However, to get to 4th place is another matter. The average pts required to get to 4th in a 27 game season is 40. That means we would need at least 17 pts from the last 9 games. We've only done that once before (09/10 - 19 pts) so that seems less likely.

4th is a home playoff I take it?

I can't remember what the new playoffs system is. It always takes me years to adjust to new playoffs, by which time they've usually changed again.

Yep, 3rd v 6th, 4th v 5th. Whoever finishes 1st plays the lowest ranked winner of those games.

So first and second gets a bye now? instead of the stupid 2 leg situation they previously had that meant the top 2 basically played each other 3 times in 4 weeks. Like.

If you took out Melbournes two 5-0 rapings, they'd have the tightest defence in the league

Maths fail there JV.

Also if we hadn't conceded any goals we'd have the best defence in the league! :)

Its going to be a real dog fight for top six. Jets winning was a bummer....as was us completely shredding our positive goal difference. Every game now is almost like a Cup tie. We have to make sure we don't drift off the teams who are all on 27 points. A win against CCM would be brilliant.

We still have the 4th best GD in the league, and 3rd= most goals for.

This league is nuts!

Sydney play Newcastle tomorrow so only one of them can overtake us this week. Jets would need a 6-0 win to do that. Sydney would just need to win.  Go the draw

And Adelaide play Melbourne, so they will either both be 2 points ahead of us or one of them will remain one point ahead. It's so tight in the 6!

A big relief to see our goal difference improved somewhat. So many crazy, unpredictable results in the league this season.

It's weird that only 3 teams have a positive goal difference

We certainly are. Maybe someone doesn't want to record Brockie's goal.
