3rd and 4th at home this week! Two draws sees us even with Melb C at 4th, four points gives us 4th, ^ points (we can dream) does the same but closes us up with the top 3.

Check out the ladder on the A-league website that lists each team's last 5 results.

The bottom four have just one win and 15 losses out of 20 matches.

The top six have 19 wins and only four losses out of 30 games.

Adelaide helped keep Perth in check, 6th at this point in the season is ok, I think we can start planning for a being involved in the play offs. Bottom four are all beatable cos even when the play well they struggle to secure a win, even against themselves.

Vital game vs City on Saturday, if we can't pick up 3 points that is a massive hit to our top 4 chances

Permalink Permalink

I'm pretty sure top 3 is unlikely at this stage. 4th is definately there for the taking though.

I want at least fourth! Hoping the ACL might affect the teams above us.

I think that's right.  We may get the odd result here and there, but for me, I think the top 3 are a cut above in quality, then there is 3 (maybe 4 with Newcastle) in the next tier, then the rest.  Perth away is a massive ask, so we really need some points from this game to keep in touch with the 4th place spot.

Home finals game should definitely be the goal from here & the cash boost for the FFA from a big crowd would help with the metrics.

If we break up the table into top 3, middle 3 and bottom 4 it looks like Adelaide have the easier draw. And their games against Sydney and Victory are after the ACL starts.

We're a bit unlucky in that we play each of Perth, Sydney and Melb Victory away twice and only home once.

Normo's coming home

We play Sydney at "home" twice, so only Perth and Victory away twice. Considering we've lost 3 times as many games at home than away maybe it's a good things we're playing these teams away.

bottom 3 getting more and more clear. Can't see any of them making a run for the 6 now, Newcastle almost out of it too. We nee at least a point from tonight's game to stay in the battle with Adelaide.

Not sure I agree that Newcastle are out of it yet. If we get a result tonight I'll feel more comfortable, especially since we should be looking up not down. It's going to be a tough ask to finish fourth but there's no reason why we couldn't pick up a minimum of 4 points up over the next two games.

Bloody Adelaide - they were supposed to lose badly against Perf.  They're so, like, unreliable.

Newcastle will go downhill after their ACL matches, we'll be alright.
