I agree.  If it wasn't for players being injured who's to say he wouldn't still be sitting on the bench!

"Melbourne Victory
On 27th February 2011, Wellington announced the departure of Rojas to Melbourne Victory. He will wear the number 22 shirt, last occupied by Nick Ward, who coincidentally moved in the opposite direction almost 6 months earlier."

He probably didn't like his girlfriend and so is moving Marco.

If he did then he made a pretty good call.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Thing is, I doubt he'll get called up. Imagine how much talent they have over there competing for a place without looking for people eligible in other countries.

You never know. They obviously wouldn't discount someone who was eligible if he ended up good enough. They might even look to hand out a cap to "lock players in".... just like we would.

Does "making your child play for the Tards" technically count as child abuse? I'd say so, esp. if Muskunt is coach next year.

It's a pretty common internet meme. Apologies if offensive to anyone, but honestly it should be much less offensive than some of the clowns here who were calling Marco a c*** and wishing him a career-ending injury.Doloras2011-02-28 17:23:22

Comment for Rodi in SST re Yellow Fever:

"We appreciate everything they did. The opportunity they gave him was massive," he said. "Hopefully they understand."

How can we be expected to understand? Hopefully the Rojas camp issue a statement explaining the decision because otherwise there will always be this bad blood. It seems a shame for all concerned that it has to turn ugly, but the way it has transpired I am not surprised it has.

I know we can only expect so much loyalty from our players but I think because of the scholarship the Rojas situation is a little different, and at least he should have the decency to explain the decision to fans. I don't think that is unreasonable.

It's disappointing, but if he doesn't want to play for us, we don't want him to play for us.

Ah, sorry, didn't pick the sarcasm. :) But I stand by what I said in my edit about the people who've been saying stuff I find REALLY offensive. He's a 19 year old kid who doesn't make all his own decisions, for Chrissake. He's not nearly as much of a Judas as Smeltzy. Even Mossy, and I don't hear any hate for the latter.

Also realised that the dialogue in the cartoon should run:

"Est el tiempo para MELBOURNE VICTORY!"
"No, papa! No!"Doloras2011-02-28 17:28:35

You're implying Smeltzy makes the choices as to which club he goes to?

Well, the use of such phrases as "pussy-whipped" would be sexist.

Just use the term 'married'. That's something more powerful than being whipped anyway.

The way I see it is he is the best product of the club in our whole history. He developed as a footballer in this country, in this country's top local competition. He was picked by the fans, then by the coach. He meant a lot to the club and a lot to the fans. I doubt he considered that when he (his dad, lets be honest) made the decision. I think he was a lot more to the club than Smeltz of Moss were. He was a rising hero, maybe something the club needed to boost crowd numbers and merchandise sales - I think you could take it that far.

100% JUDAS.

a few things to ponder:

why isn't there an article on the melbourne victory website about his signing?
why has someone just told me he hasnt actually signed anything yet (he was waiting for the last offer from another a-league club to come in)
where is the dominion post getting their info from?

all confusing stuff....

Yep - go to Radio Sport's on demand selection, and select Monday 16.15 to 16.30, it's about 3-4 minutes in.

Frankly, all the angst will clear up for me overnight if the Nix announce the signing of a gun striker, a creative CM and a solid RB quite soon. (Also, sign Lovemore and Clapham, because why not.) It's sad to see Marco go, but the overriding question for me is will we have a squad that can win the league next year?

There's still the "Chilean question" imho.  This dad/agrent thing gives me the sh*ts.

Just read this from random poster on 442. Did anyone else hear this interview and can confirm this was said? (Or confirm it's made up bollcks?)
I like what his dad said on Pacific Radio today " Marcos best interests is in club football, He wont be playing any micky mouse friendly's for any nation this year". When ask if Marco would link up with the All Whites with games against China and Japan.
If this quote is true then Ferk me........Mr Rojas has way to much say on whats going down with his son....FFS he is not managing Lionel Messi. His boy is a promising youngster with 10 A-League starts.

He has to remember that for every footballer superstar there are 1000's of players who were promising  youngsters and never made it . If his Dad is starting to make these statements you would have to question his judgement......you would also have to ask yourself how much imput Marcos is having in all this and how much of it is his Dads doing.

its actually pissing me off that Rodi seems to be having such a big say in all this.

I would rather have Paul Ifill as my agent if I was Marco. He would have hook ups overseas and has actually played pro footy.

I think Marco should have had a chat to mossy before he left, get his take on it.
