Possibly. But anyone who got conned by 'marketing' into turning last week would want their money back.
There are adds in the paper, on the radio. There is enough coverage. The problem's the footy.

Problem is, this is a guy who I'm sure wouldn't have spent a lot of time even watching football before buying into the Nix. Now he's a tactical wizard?
No disrespect to any of them, but that midfield 3 doesn't exactly scream exciting, attractive, attacking football.
That midfield 3, probably the most uncreative in football
Jets.
I think Patrick's point is that the timeframes are for families to attend, but the advertising campaign is about making noise and foussed on the Fever. The two don't really align.
Oi theft. I said that in a drunken post on Monday morning.
I worry about this as I think going to the football is habbit forming - if people don't know/have to actively find out when the game is they are less likely to go, whereas if (generally) there is football on every second weekend, people get to know when game weekend is. Having the odd game here and there, and a month without football in the region (by the time two away games and the 'home' game away pass) means people will get out of the habit of attending.
As for instructing that better football is played by shifting to the more attractive 4-3-3, the less said the better. Unless players change (or chequebook opens) King Canute might have more success.

I have to admit, this is a pretty powerful demotivator for me as well.
Football teams aren't just an "entertainment product" that you can move around to "serve" to "new markets" and anyone who treats them as such may quickly find that their 6,000 genuine fans will drift away from them.
Have to admit i feel the same way while i havnt spent anywhere near the money Welnix has.Since the Phoenix started i have spent thousands in season passes, merchandise, travelling to away games, number plate and the neccasary lubricant to oil a conservative Kiwis pipes.Plus turning down heaps of work so i can attend said games.I have not missed a home game at the stadium since we started and have defended them from all the negative comments from family, friends and others who are aware im a Phoenix tragic.
Congratulations Welnix you have succeded where others have failed in making me reconsider where i spend my entertainment dollars.
Maybe you should take a look at how the AFL are going to market their Anzac Day game at the stadium. They have openly said they want a team in Wellington and i for one would love that to happen.

Strictly speaking we have one home game away this season - Akld.
The Dunedin game is the regional development one.
I think last time when we were facing the prospect of more away games, after my apoplectic posts I conceded to two games away MAX. This long term intention to have a third of the games away is really a kick in the teeth.
Merry Christmas Welnix - you bunch of grinches.

Socceroo/ Mariner / Whangarei
From a Wellington football perspective taking another game or two away sucks
From a business point of view I can see the logic. Running a business is not a charity....its simple, earnings must be greater than expenses. If it makes the club more financially viable having three games on the road then so be it. I would hate to go through a another Terry style financial meltdown. We can't expect Welnix to keep bankrolling our leisure activities. Look whats happening at the Jets at the moment when you rely on the largeness of rich dudes...it can all come tumbling down very quickly.
A question?
Over the last week we have had several journalists going on about how the Nix needing 10,000 people a match to break even. My understanding is the new TV deal pays all the players wages. Morrison said this is a financial game changer. So obviously when the new deal kicks in we DO NOT NEED 10,000 to break even....true??????
If that is the case then can someone tell the journalists to shut the F**k up and get their facts right!
But the business case doesn't stack up. If you make it a regular event then the novelty value is gone and those crowds will return to Wellington sized crowds. As already stated, Christchurch dropped of 5k between two games, Dunedin 10k.
Every chance this will cost more money (travel, accomadation, venues) and alienate the fan base they have. There is highly unlikely to be any win in this for them.
More games out of town 3 less memberships. Simple - if I have to watch 4 home games on TV they just become away games and sway the % of away game to home games and reduce drawcard of live football.

Do you have stats for crowd trends over a season? If we do our late season surge in points does that correlate with increase in crowds ?

The 20,000 at chch, auckland ect are simply cos it's one game a season, not two or three.
So come on the fever sing,
we know we're gonna win.
Yellow Fever will sing, when we're at home
This is our home, we want to stay h-o-o-ome.
We're the WELLINGTON Phoenix,
