So Dura asked Tim Brown, whether he would fancy investing in the Nix.

Durante must read YF forums, as know someone (can't find the post), half jokingly suggested that a few weeks ago.

If every Nix fan, bought a pair of All Birds, Brown may have the cash he needs to invest in his old club!

Have you seen our crowds/metrics recently?

Has he got any silicon valley mates who might want a bit?

Depends which bit you are referring to?

Can anyone tell me if they have tried the free kid with a paying adult deal for any prolonged length of time? The old drugcdealer trick, give it to them for free and sell it to them when they are hooked. The odd promotion wont work.

Thats always been a FFA promotion I think

The NIx do well with kids - if your a junior registered in Wellington you get the first 3 games free and then can get a season ticket for $20

They had a pretty good deal last season for kids where it was $90 and that included a season ticket, a shirt, a drawbag, scarf, hat, stickers and a drink bottle - given that a kids shirt on its own was $90 it was great. MY nephew only went to a few games but it was well worth the $90

Do students these days have enough money to buy anything but Nescafé?

You'll be surprised, the bus stop by milk crate and the queues at Vic books or else they are on energy drinks or waters. I cringe at price of a cup of coffee so i buy ground beans for the stovetop and use the milk frother if I have any milk.

You, Sir, know your coffee - and this comes from a born-and-bred Italian.

Nothing wrong with a nice flat white every now and then, but nothing beats a good Bialetti with some finely ground coffee (Lavazza or Karamu Coffee) with a bit of froth on top!

Rob Morrison is involved in the independent A-League discussions, right?

I remember him heading up some negotiations of some sort but they don't seem to be the APFCA ones. Is anyone able to remember exactly what that is, preferably with a source?

I believe Rob was on the team that set this https://apfca.com.au/ up and as a group they have been lobbying the FFA for longer than this group has been public.

I would guess he is still heavily involved but not one of the two on the CRWG.panel.

Seems Rob outed the ellusive football committee when lambasting the media for questioning him saying two years ago he didn't know who Mark Rudan was.

"That's not my skillset, that's the guys like Domey, Mark Chote, Noah Hickey, the football guys.who provide input to the club."

---

In full, a pretty spikey response that he interjected to make.

Love your support of the club Rob, but surely being grumpy with the media isn't going to help long term. Yeh, they ask stupid qustions, at least some of the time, and annoying ones at others, but the club's job is to manage a relationship with them and get them onside, as far as possible.

If you look at the article on stuff about the signing of Rudan the article was 50% about how Rob didn't know who he was two years ago, which doesn't really seem relevant.

For sure, some of them are cocks and their questions fudgeing embarrasing, but the club needs the media more than the media need them so Morrison should try and disguise his distaste of them.

The latest article on stuff is headlined "The Phoenix get it right for once.." even good news is bad news in Phoenix land. I wouldn't deal with them either.

It's a click bait title and unnecessarily negative and you know it.

The "for once" bit is cheap and wrong. We got it right with Ricki and we got it right with Ernie, even though those two didn't end well, they were both good choices and had their good impacts at the club..

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Yep, jeeze we should be positively working to charm the media, not spitting tacks.

And no, 50% of the article was not about what Rob said.  They reported it accurately.  And with video of what he actually said.  And Rob said it, so invited it to be reported.  Rudan laughed about it.  Rob should have as well and just adopted a more positive tone and affirmed that he certainly knew him now and is impressed and pleased with the job the football committee had done with their role in the selection process. And thanked the media for turning up.

Tone matters. Especially if you want good press and that helping draw crowds. Overall, considering what a mess we've been for years, I thought the media gave us a pretty positive and comprehensive write up.

And, p.s. the current headings for the two stuff articles i've read are:

Wellington Phoenix get it right with appointment of Mark Rudan

and

Wellington Phoenix appoint former Sydney FC captain Mark Rudan as new head coach

Its a Stuff opinion piece surely you dont expect anything else.

Despite what some may claim Rob just dosnt seem to get it when dealing with the sports media. He continues in that way and we will struggle to get many on our side.I do like him but he at times  dosnt seem to get that a football club and its fans need to handled differently to how he handles stuff in the corporate world.

Then don't own a dog and bark yourself. Dome was there, why not leave him to do the talking [which he is very good at]. Anyway a lot of the pressure on Morrison now comes off as Rudan will be the mouth-piece for most things to do with the club from now on.

If we want the media on our sides - win, that way they will come to us for interviews etc like they have with the warriors this year.

When that happens, manipulate them for your own gains... its how the world works.

Rob was the one that made it relevant. If he had left it alone then Rudan's response would have been nothing more than a throwaway sentence. Instead, he directly attacked a journalist at the major news outlet in the city. Of course that's worth reporting on for that news outlet.

Factor in that it's the only statement Rob's actually made to the media in quite a while and it becomes very relevant. Rob should have left it alone.

F- it he's got a good coach and dealt with a lot of sharke. If he wants to return serve once or twice that's fine with me.

Sure, but then you deal with the fallout in the media from it afterward.

If you're cool with your outburst taking column inches away from the real (positive) news of the day, then go for it.

Fight and character on the field.  And fight in the politics for extending the licence and an independent A League (but even there a degree of charm will help).

But heck, get the local journos on side.  If we want crowds of punters as opposed to a few k of tragics, then we're going to need the journos helping tell a good story.

While watching NP's performative doomsaying failing is always entertaining, when I said I wanted Welnix to show fight I meant show fight to the FFA and the crap Aussie media, not the local media, who are a different thing.
