If that's how it started arnt some people being a touch sensitive. Realise there may be history but come on Patricks "I'm a bit ashamed that this guy owns part of the football club I love" post pretty much was asking for a response. When that happened people get all moralistic if your offended by that type of thing then you really probably shouldn't be on social media. Storm in teacup sensitive suzies what ever you like to call it don't really see an issue. Im not a fan of his but he is putting his money into the football club I love and for that I thank him

You may not like him or the things he says or how he choses to say them if so just switch off when see him blabbing on. You could always offer tbuy his share of the club off him.

Please don't put words in my mouth. I've never said that I'm offended by his response.

What were your thoughts on what he said?

Received a couple of posts on social media out of the US stirring up misinformation. And trying to discredit anyone with medical knowledge and opinions. Same playbook as was used on tobacco, then climate change. Feels horrific.

Trying to analyse why I feel less horrified by Gareth Morgan.

It's him sounding off, not quite a machine based systematic PR campaign, NZ is more under control, he's not in a position of great influence, he's not, that I've seen, attacking the science in general and he funds my football club.

Edit: and I encountered it here second hand, not while checking the news. That ten deaths for a hundred k is very confrontational.

I don't think some cancer patients and many more would agree on $4.7m per person.  But have you a sauce for the highlighted?

Thanks for that piece on the “value of a statistical life”. But can't see GM mentioned in it or re his friend

Sorry I read this on my phone and didn't see the highlighted part. I thought you meant the 4.7 million.

Here's Gareth's tweet:

Obviously shark but it also doesn't mean a life is worth 10k.

I agree with GM if the fact his friend was denied a drug cause that would have saved his life. I'd comment too.

Bad road - death to $ value The total social cost of motor vehicle injury crashes in 2016 is estimated at $4.17 billion, at June 2017 prices. This represents an increase of $0.3 billion (or 7.8 percent) compared to the previous year (from $3.87 billion in 2015).  So 10 people die on a bad corner that will trigger repair/fix at 41.7 million. If repair cost is $80m no work done.

Pharmac work on a cost to benefit ratio - lets hope it is 4.17m

I mean the other fact is investment and the enormous amount of fan and media work put in by Patrick and the YF should go hand in hand. Both bring value to the other. Anyhou.

Be kind I guess...

The little indulgence is surely TWGOAT?

Phoenix Academy Placed On Hiatus

The Wellington Phoenix's football academy is to be placed on hiatus, pending future decisions on the football landscape in New Zealand.

With New Zealand Football's announcement last week that all community football would be postponed further due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the club has decided to put the Academy on hiatus pending a review of this decision.

Wellington Phoenix General Manager, David Dome, says that the Phoenix Academy remains an important part of both the club and the wider football landscape in New Zealand.

"The Wellington Phoenix is committed to the development of young footballers in New Zealand and beyond, as evidenced by the success of our Academy over the past few years.

"It makes sense to put this Academy on hiatus while we await the re-start of community football, and after we're able to ascertain what the sporting landscape will look like in New Zealand in the future."

Academy Director, Paul Temple, added "We have a number of families and players who have committed so much to move to Wellington, there are significant sacrifices and financial implications to do this and with the current situation we have a moral obligation to them to make decisions early and with pragmatism.

"Football won't look the same as we left it, with Covid-19 no doubt altering the football in New Zealand going forward.

''We want to support our families and players by providing clear and honest information in a timely manner so they can make their own decisions, acknowledging the sacrifices many have made and their commitment to the Phoenix."

The Academy will continue to communicate with its players, staff and families in due course and await news on the future football landscape before making any further announcements.
