Gameiro has the u20 World Cup coming up later this year. Can't see him deciding on his future before then. He will always have options in the A-League, so no need to sign for anyone before then.

Let's re-sign Ricky Clarke. We never lost a game when he was in the game day squad.

unless one of the other a-league clubs signs him before then, in which case we'll be getting hurt by him for seasons to come.

Better to sign coach first and then let him/her sign players that rush and sign now...sort of horse before the cart or else it wil be donkey before the cart.

Completely agreed - unless it's very obviously a quality signing like Hernandez.

A female coach. Now there's something you don't see often. Probably be more popular than the players.

The other side of the coin is that some of the current players might fall out of favour with the new coach. Thinking 'Ricki's boys' etc... A lot more room for speculation there.

Fuck this stupid game

Rory Fallon and Chris Killen might not be the biggest names out there but surely either one would suit or style quite nicely. If Corey Gamiero isn't signed then I suggest getting at least one big forward in the squad.

Personally I don't think Rory Fallon will add much more to the Nix unless we are going to go back to lots of crosses into the box. Killen would be a good addition as he holds the ball up well and is a decent passer very similar to Stein though.

Given the way A-League refs seem to view any sort of contact, I would personally hate to think the carnage Fallon and his elbows would cause on the number of free kicks we give away in the course of a season.

Killen yes.

Fallon only the day after we hire his old man as coach (ie: never).

Heskeys elbows are positvely cultured compared to Rory's

Chris Killen would be a great addition to the side. He seems happy earning better money in china still though.

I guess strikers aren't exactly priority but Chris Killen would be nice.

Last time I heard an interview with Killy he didn't sound too happy about life in China. Money must be pretty bloody good.

So's life in Wellington if Gareth's paying.

Fallon would be a lot cheaper.

As said previously; if we got Killen, you'd have to think that was the end of the road for Stein. Stein is basically the bald, belgian version.

Killen can actually head a ball however.

Auckland will rise once more

Anyway, doubtful that God wants Rory to move away from Scotland yet.

Shitter or Shittier? But agreed. He might have scored "That Goal" but Killen puts in a lot more effort. without the elbow bookings.

through a sauce I know that Killens mother has stated that he has always had intentions to come back to New Zealand and play before giving it up. When that happens who knows but he does want to come home at some point.

^ As long as he doesn't show up when he is 34 and looking for one last final pay cheque.

Would love him at the club though

Honestly don't think Killen would make a huge difference to our current squad. Maybe 3 years ago - not anymore.

He could always play CM if needed - that worked out for everyone in Honiara didn't it?? :)

Even if Fallon or Killen didn't start, I just think they offer something neither of our current crop do. We are so useless when balls come into the box.

Maybe we need to stop playing that style then instead of trying to find players who match it.

Thats a good idea.

Perhaps we could sign a striker with good pedigree and experience who's much more adept at playing the ball on the ground.

Exactly! When we actually progress to this new fangled approach to football, which doesn't involve hoofing the ball at a lone striker's head from anywhere between 4 and 70 yards away, then dinosaurs like Fallon won't be an issue any more.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

isn't that player Stein? from what i've seen he prefers the ball to feet instead of the high crosses, and the couple of times he's received this he looked dangerous.
