a big striker for next season would be useful. then we would have a head to aim at in the box from all our crosses instead of trying to pick out Greenie etc (most of our players that get in the box arent the tallest)

I actually thought Daniel was quite good coming off the bench last night. Interesting.

I was keen for him to come on but I just didn't think he really changed anything.
Can't help thinking Ward would've been a better option.
Off topic though.

Can we have Flores? That'd be sweet, though I guess he'd want the big $$$. Must be on a hell of wage in China. Everyone who goes to China seems to be...

I understood that the number of imports spots was dropping to 4 next season but vaguely recall reading comments that it may be staying at 5.

Anyone know definitively how many import spots allowed for next season ?

I've seen nothing official but Brockie seemed pretty certain it would stay at 5. That's the highest authority I've seen state it. I guess he'd have the inside scoop...

Here's a speculation: Ward to Unicorns.
Doesn't seem to like Wellington, Left last season, probably only here now because we needed to sign someone and he lost his club. I don't think he will stay if he has an opportunity to go to Oz.

Nick Ward is a handy squad player at A-League level. He'd be a very solid Australian signing for the Unicorns.

I couldnt see that he made any difference and that some of his passes were a bit pedestrian to be honest

I think no matter what the new Sydney team call themselves they will be known as the unicorns forever. Its gonna be a few seasons before they live that down.

I thought they were the Western Sydney Spongers? (Because we all pay for them)

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

WELLINGTON PHOENIX SCREAMING OUT FOR HESKEY Great attitude shown by the Nix players and coach Ricki Herbert after Saturday's heartbreaker. Instead of accepting the idea of being 'overachievers' this season, they were having none of it. The Nix left Nib stadium feeling they should've done more. It's this culture that drove them to better other more fancied teams this season. Some of the support the Nix received this season has been fantastic. They have a great base of around 10,000 fans to build from - and you just fancy the right marquee signing can get the club and the turnstiles really humming next term. There's a glaring weakness in Herbert's attack - no big centre-forward. What could Emile Heskey, of Aston Villa, do for Wellington on and off the pitch? Or what about a homecoming for Chris Killen after 18 months in China?

Heard we had him and Titus Bramble locked in for 2 season each....

Not sure if serious...
The best satire is indistinguishable from reality.

If it is serious, I thought it had been confirmed that Welnix looked into signing Killen but couldn't meet his demands. Seems kinda unlikely that we would: a) pick him up 6 months later, or b) be able to afford Heskey.

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.

Heskey is the best.

I'd totally have him, in every way.

Hey do all the other a-league clubs have fan sites equivilent ( but obviously not as good) to the yellow fever?
Would like to keep track of their transfer speculation threads over the off-season see whats what.
Anyone for links? I tried to find Perths one pre-game but couldn't find it.
Cheers.

I am all for Heskey,

Greatest player to of lived, his goal scoring prowess puts many other strikers to shame. His pin point passing and deadly crosses are what every team wants, he is the ultimate player, he is a beast.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Apart from J Brockie

Mario Simic, Tarek Elrich, Sung Hwan Byun, Labinot Haliti, keeper Matthew Nash, Ali Abbas and skipper Ryan Griffiths, Francis Jeffers, Jeremy Brockie.
Discussed a few pages back.
I think Griffiths has been re-signed. Maybe Abbas to? not sure on that one.
Not all that interested in this lot.
Lot of players being released this season.
Good time for Unicorns to start, get to take their pick from the mass exodus of Heart, Jets, and GCU.

He ended up playing right mid at the end of the season. They moved Zadkovich to right back.
