This. I really don't understand all the speculation that we might get him back.

I also would be very surprised if the coach didn't cut him some slack even though he's been rubbish. He's still just a kid and they're not going to go and fire their youth marquee half way through his contract because of one bad season, you have to persevere in situations like this.

Also, given that the entire team is playing like sh*t, my guess is that Rojas might be given the benefit of the doubt for at least one more season.

Rojas won't come back. He would have to admit he made the wrong move first and I call that very unlikely.

Fuck this stupid game

He will have to pick up his game after his performance from last night if he wants to get regular time.

I cant see him coming back here. Why would he,  he got a strip torn off him when he left.

Still this is the (wild) speculation thread

I'm not necessarily saying he'll be playing every week at Melbourne, but that doesn't mean they'll cut him loose.

And yes, I would also be surprised if he came back given all the animosity. Which means there are at least 4 or 5 reasons why he'll be staying put for now imo.

Would not want Rojas back, honestly. Not after everything that happened.

And yeah, that might be petty and stupid but this is football - i'm allowed to be irrationalvaleo2012-01-23 22:36:28

Why wouldn't we take him back? His dad didn't direct his career in the right path at that point - his mistake. Let's not forget how good Marco was in the final third of last season.

Bojic and Marrone definetly but very unlikely to come here. Unless CCM is in the sh*tter. Could swipe Bojic and Mcglinchey off them. 11 assists between them so far...
CCM only offered Bojic a new 1 year contract, what he turned down.

Yeah but he works there, owns a gym or something. So unless he wanted to expand the franchise, it doesn't seem like he'd want to leave Aus for what the Phoenix would pay him. Red hot form though.

James Troisi could be available, pay dispute with Turkish club, and Nathan Burns has been released by AEK.

Would we be interested?Bullion2012-01-24 10:46:50

Nathan Burns could be a good option for this Jan window. Don't think hes gonna bring in the fans, but hes young and wasnt bad at Adelaide. Id be keen.

Would also be interested in Troisi - would be an upgrade of Ward

Burns being chased hard by Adelaide and the Jets, doubt if we will get a look in. Jets may use him as Aust Marquee

Also the Jets want Troisi, with Wehrman going to Norway to free up a spot & cash for him.

Yeah, no chance we'll get either. Troisi is pretty overrated anyways.

Which Griffiths? Sackwhacker is going to be playing alongside Anelka next season.

In regards to Troisi, if Downey and Pantelis were both coming off contract this season I would seriously consider signing him. IMHO he would be an upgrade on all our wingers (bar Ifill but I think his days on the wing seem numbered).

Burns is decent but not a striker to lead the line, play with his back to goal, and would be competing with Sanchez or our wingers for game time. Again, IMHO would be better than most of our current wing options

Stuff article has said he is back from Asia and unlikely to sign on for more seasons. No idea what the source is or just opinion on re-signing.

bojic best RB in the league. No one else can bomb on and get back like him. Would start over Blockhead any day of the week

I am confused Lochhead is a LB, so in the very unlikelyhood we were to get Bojic then he would play in his natural RB position and Manny go to DM.

So why would you start a RB at LB? You do remember that Lochhead is a LB right? Next you'll want Warner upfront...

Yeah when I was reading that I was trying to work out was this from a club source or just the writers wild speculation which is just as bad as what is on here...........

What about this guy, playing for Canterbury, anyone seen him ??

"Darren White's technique and delivery certainly seem superior to some All Whites and A-League midfielders, and seasoned observers here expressed surprise he was not playing at a higher level in England. "

Zucco to trial with the Phoenix
BY ADAM PENGILLY
26 Jan, 2012 04:00 AM
Tarrawanna coach Luke Maguire has backed firebrand striker Ricky Zucco to make an impression on Wellington Phoenix coaching staff with the leading marksman poised to break into the A-League ranks.

Zucco was yesterday officially released by last years Illawarra Premier League grand finalists to sign for Team Wellington, the Phoenixs feeder club who play in the New Zealand National League.

The deal comes after a month-long trial with Ricky Herberts Phoenix.

From all reports hes doing very well, Maguire said. They dont hand month-long trials to just anybody. Obviously the coaching staff have taken a liking to him over there and think he can do the business and theyre better judges than me, I guess.

Having bagged a league-leading 21 goals in the 2011 IPL season despite missing seven matches through suspension, Zuccos departure will be greeted with relief by a number of Tarrawannas rivals.

The Blueys talisman had inked a new one-year deal with Tarrawanna after the 4-2 grand final loss to Dandaloo.

The club always said they wouldnt stand in Ricks way if he got the chance to go to a higher level, Maguire said.

Weve started pre-season and it came fairly late in our process of what sort of players we were looking for, but weve got a few things in mind so well see how it goes.

The Phoenix will monitor Zucco under match conditions before deciding on whether to offer him an A-League contract.

how can we offer a month long trial to a kid, he can't play in the first team can he? unless we sign him and register him, so are we planning some friendly games for him to play in?

Although it isn't, I get the impression that this year it has moved in that direction given the number of young promising players that have signed. Ricki will be able to keep an eye on players in wellington more easily than anywhere else.

All I took from the article is that he has signed for TW and Ricki is at least vaguely interested.
