No we didn't. It was just a clause in the contract that was automatically triggered.

Unless Ifill is likely to play somewhere else (with these knees?), I reckon we should get him to apply for a Kiwi citizenship. Holding a dual citizenship does not require him to drop his UK passport (just like Durante does not have to relinquish Australian one). Correct me if I am wrong.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Ifill won't be eligible for NZ citizenship until at least winter 2014, so it doesn't really help us at all.

Doesn't he play for Trinidad anyway?

Barbados. But if he had NZ citizenship he wouldn't be classed as an import in the A-league, which would obviously help us.

by the time he gets citenzin ship I hope we aren't relying on him as our most influential player

Queenslander 3x a year.

By the time his application is approved his legs will have completely gone. Ifill ten years ago would have been a good move.

Defensive midfielder. Like, a good one.

Striker

Left back ?

Permalink Permalink

Right back ..

Permalink Permalink

that's been the shopping list for some time now, we are yet to achieve either

Queenslander 3x a year.

we won't get a right back. manny will play there next year. theres noone else

Permalink Permalink

No one else ?

There will be somebody in the world, surely ?

But I don't think we need a rb. We're sorted.

Will Manny stay with us do you think? Is he contracted?

what if he gets injured tho ? then who shuffle back line add boxall in the middle lia rback fenton in .I dont think so we need a proper back up

All assuming he gets injured of course usually tho he is the one doing the injuring

I think Bertos is a good enough back up at RB for Manny so the need there is not as great.

Our biggest issues are through the middle of the field... we need to quality CM's / DM's to maintain and control possession.

Lia / Smith / Sanchez just don't compare to what other  teams have.

Two more central midfielders, and a centre-back.

And Carlos Hernandez is not a natural defensive midfielder, plus he is more of a "lone artisan" than a central team-player.

Well well well, I see that regular Forum fodder Aaron Clapham is heading to Kuala Lumpur for a 3 day trial.

I'd say so, I certainly have never heard of the Malaysian Super League that's for sure.
I think he's starting getting desperate.

^ We should pay for his flights and accommodation. Anything for him to sign elsewhere so we can stop talking about him!

Good on him though, would be a pretty sweet working holiday!

Note: bring heaps of sunscreen!

With us getting a new coach, it is a good chance for him to pick up a contract. Plan may be to play overseas for 6 months and then come back match fit and try to impress the new gaffer.

Dominik Ritter, of jets fame is off contract. i dont know to much about him, but a jets fan i know has been saying hes pretty handy( tho he still is a jets fan, so what the fuck does he know), covers LB and CB. is an import slot tho.

He's pretty average for an import, plus he just turned down a contract extension at the Jets because he wanted more money. More than he probably deserves.

I assumed he was a 12yo from Newcastle, didn't realise he was a comedy import.  Proves to me the impact he's had on the league.

Ian has the potential. In fairness he had hardly kicked a ball when he hit his game for us. A preseason and conditioning would make a difference. He seems to have his head sorted. Ton of gas, younger, cheaper. Tony shows he still has it and looks a completely different player under Greenie. I wonder if the pressure of playing for one coach at both club and country adds undue pressure. I.e don't perform at club and the country coach won't pick me (which sounds silly but hopefully my true meaning comes through being under constant scrutiny)

Is this the "it" that includes poor positional awareness, poor understanding with CBs, unecessary fouls (pens, when player has back goal etc etc), poor, one dimensional service when forward, reluctance to receive the ball, inability to beat last man when forward, poor decision making as to when to go forward, very slow tracking back, and freaking so on??

I'm surprised there hasn't been more hating on Vinnie. Who was higher up your flow chart News, Lochy or Vinnie?

Lochhead is a better A-League left back than Adam D'Apuzzo, Shane Steffanuto and Dean Heffernan. He's also less erratic than Fabio which all suggests that finding a better replacement that doesn't use an import spot is highly unlikely.

He's not Premier League standard but he's a perfectly capable A-League left back and in a capped league and playing by the rules (ie not one of the Sydney clubs) a capable player is all you can ask for. in some spots.
