Interesting Wiki page. It kinda looks like he is still out on loan...

Sign him as a striker then.

Hopefully he stays - there's even a statue of him at Dorris Leslie Park near Lyall Bay (apparently donated by the Chilean Govt no less).  Wgtn needs you Manny.

Kind of puts the whole Tony Warner thing into perspective, huh!

sure does, thankfully I'm not a Warner knocker, I think he does ok, and has deserved the chances he's gotten

Queenslander 3x a year.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Objectively, would you sign Basalaj knowing that he is going to be an extremely good keeper (but is not there yet) with a oft-injured Paston on the books? It would mean him likely getting a significant chunk of game time based on history. Would we tolerate him as a keeper while Paston is injured? I just hark back to the Crowther era...

You could sign 3 keepers. With him filling a youth spot it isn't that big a deal. Would need a reserve team up and running to be worth denying him the chance of getting gametime though.

Don't know much about him but have just seen his height listed at 178cm. Is this right, would seem on small side for a keeper

Fixed.

Basalaj is over to Rangers for a trial isnt he?

Don't blame it on the moonlight...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

A lot was made of Spoonley talent and his time at the nix didn't go well.

Would Basalaj actually benefit from being at the nix (especially as a number 2 where keepers often don't get a look in).

I would sign him on the basis that his name fits the league. There is already a Babalj and Shroj after all.

Can't help but think signing a young guy like him could prevent his progress unless history does repeat with Pasty's injuries like you point out.

Interesting Arnie is saying to Matt Ryan stay in the A League 3 or 4 more years rather than going to Europe and be stuck behind an experienced keeper.

Might be worthwhile for Basalaj to get an ASB Prem gig play a season or two and then Ricki or the new gaffer sign him up.

All this could go out the window if Rangers are keen and he cannot refuse?

Was this young 18 year old midfielder who scored 4 goals the other day ever on the nix's radar this year?

He has trained with the team before, so they know about him. No idea whether he was close to getting signed though.rjmiller2012-01-21 10:55:34

Despite a couple of poor performances, I still like Sanchez in the team going forward and just wish we can regularly play a like-minded player with him.
