Agree. We have Carlos and a cast of other attacking players. Ernie wants a striker and thats it. Flores wont be getting signed unless he has learned how to defend and play in front of a back 4 all of a sudden.

But he doesnt need a striker JV rememmmmmber?

Flores is on his way out - as a player and mentally

According to JV we also don't need to have a striker who can head a ball as we have Stein the Man to get up high in the penalty area and flick the ball on :)

So who is the U20 guy signing next week?.....Bill Tuiloma please. Great prospect.

As for Flores.....no way. With Carlos here he would have to play wide Plus he's going to CCM

Stein can head a ball quite well and scored from one this year (amongst our shit crosses). Nothing to admit

Can't see why we'd be after the sherminator if we're signing Tuiloma. Van Elia to be a wildcard signing!

I reckon it'd be a step back in his career if he were to come back to the Nix. It would be far more beneficial for Musa' career and potentially the All Whites in the future for Musa to be trying to get signed in England. There would be plenty of league 2 teams that would definitely consider offering Musa a contract and his agent needs to be pursuing this (assuming he has an agent which he may not). I think it's much better for his development to be playing first team football in say an English league 2 team than sitting on the bench in the a-league.

My 2C..

Agree but perhaps League One

Musa trialed at Hearts in Scotland a month ago but they weren't interested. League One / Two probably his level - he was doing quite well at Hereford in the Conference and cemented a place as starting centre-back before he was struck down by glandular fever in March.

Hereford fans were sort of 50/50 on him: some really liked him, others didn't rate him much...

Has been staying with his parents in Wanganui since playing in the NZ "A" team v Jordan, having a holiday...

Sort of. Its more that the money has always been available to the club. Now, the A league effectively holds on to that money, pays it to players, then gives the club the rest.

But yeah same point, no extra money is available.

In fact, quite a lot more money is available this season - previously the FFA paid  $1.9 million of the salary cap with the clubs paying the remaining $700,000. The FFA are paying each club the entire salary cap this coming season.
All A-League clubs, including the Nix are in for a hand-out of A$ 2.6 million per season, covering the entire salary cap.

The FFA can afford this because they are now receiving twice the amount of TV money as in previous seasons. The FFA sold the TV rights for the A-League last November to Fox (live rights) and SBS (delayed free-to-air rights) for  $ A 40 million / year over the next four years, starting last Monday, July 1st. This is double the previous TV deal.

http://sportsbusinessinsider.com.au/international-news/ffa-doubles-up-with-new-broadcast-deal/

Frank Lowey: “We have to be prudent about it,” he added to the FFA’s official website. “The first thing we’re going to do is increase the subsidy to the clubs to the tune of $2.5 million, $2.6 million, to cover the salary cap. It was always my objective to do that, from day one. It took a few years to get there, but we are there. It’s very important. The clubs are playing a major part in the game. I without a good national competition there is no football. That’s what happened. Now we have a good competition, and the football is moving forward, but I think it will take another two or three years to really achieve our position where we should be.”

I think I may have been mistaken. Tuiloma might be going to Marseille. One of the two, I am pretty hungover right now. Van Elia is going to trial with the nix in the next few weeks, he is good friends with Ifill which is good.

Musa back in England hoping his agent can arrange trials there but his mum says he's open to offers from the Phoenix - yesterday's Wanganui Chronicle: http://www.wanganuichronicle.co.nz/news/musas-dream-still-alive/1934030/

"Musa is staying with his English grandparents while he and his agent look to get him trials, hoping to capitalise on his Premier League club experience and status as an international player...

...Mandy Musa said they have not ruled out a return to the A-League for either the New Zealand franchise or one in Australia.

"He possibly would if that was on offer but we haven't heard anything."

Bill Tuiloma a big prospect I think - be good if he picks up a pro contract. Maybe some scouts saw him at the u-20 World Cup?

Here's his highlight reel from his time at Asia Pacific Football Academy, Lincoln:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5J2Aq3HtWY

As you can see, he has an eye for goal too.

Another top Kiwi youth talent to keep an eye on is Te Atawhai Hudson-Wihongi who's currently at the youth academy of Real Salt Lake in major League Soccer:

APFA Graduate Te Atawhai Hudson-Wihongi (APFA 2010-2012) playing at Real Salt Lake's Academy in Arizona, May 2013:

There are a few overseas players who've graduated from APFA the Phoenix could keep an eye on:

Diego Martinez del Campo  from Mexico: After being at APFA 2010-11 at age 16, in mid-2011, he was sent across to Europe for trials with professional clubs, training during preseason with the U-16s Chelsea FC squad. Then, he traveled to Portugal to train with Leiria FC squad and later on, went on to Sporting Lisbon.

He finally settled down in Vigo, Spain (due to his Spanish nationality, which helped him stay). After his first full season, he was offered the chance to move to play in Barcelona with the second division team, C.E.L’Hospitalet , which has often, in the past, been a pathway for many young players into La Liga.

He's still a member of Hospitalet's youth squad. His highlight reel from last season:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZP1WDrOGKc

Another capable Mexican who spent time at APFC was Daniel Paez, a striker seen here interviewed on a Mexican TV football show with some goal videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKW5_xZG0yE

Paez and other APFA players goal reel 2012: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTbBjisKVQA

There's also 17 year old Mickael Partodikromo from New Caledonia, APFA's first Pacific Island graduate who has just signed for Reading's youth team in the Championship (reneging on a verbal agreement to join Sheffield United)

Well, Tuiloma's been much speculated on as a possible Nix signing and  in my opinion, the Nix should have signed up other guys from APFA like Partodikromo and Te Atawhai Hudson-Wihongi who have instead signed overseas.

Still, they can keep an eye on them for the future...

APFA is now on board with the FSE, so in the future those kids will get chances to impress im sure.

Tuiloma is worth a look, so is the Sherminator.

Rumours are that it's Luke Adams who has been signed.

Most likely the case if topleft's photo is anything to go by.

Just been to the Olympic Marseille web site, OM Facebook, OMTV site, OM fan site, La Provencial (daily Marseille newspaper)........nothing about Tuiloma signing. They listed  signings up until yesterday........no mention of Tuiloma.

Bit sceptical about this one. Its now really tough for someone to sign into the EU without an EU passport unless you have played loads of internationals. So unless Tuiloma has European relatives it would be tough.

Tuiloma should be picked up by the Nix IMO. He is a great prospect.

OM would be awesome though if it had happened.....great club, fantastic support and regularly plays CL
