Yeah can't disagree and I think more so when he has to wait a long time for a chance. He tends to have good runs of scoring and then a shocker here or there

Fuck this stupid game

With Carlos out for 6 weeks hope the club does something about getting a decent injury replacement.Naa not gonna happen.

two injury replacements for two key imports - we might be lucky and get one decent one - my pick is some no name old prick who fails miserably.

Queenslander 3x a year.

For a non follower of players in an available status - are there any new names around - out of Asia or South America?

So what are we allowed to ask for in terms of cover? Sorry don't have time to google it. Obviously someone in for Paul, but what else?

Time to invest in the squad Welnix - all very well wanting home-based young Kiwi's but you need to develop them first and in the meantime we end up at the bottom of the table.

We get a months cover for Caira which Ernie indicated there was someone lined up pending club approval. Not sure on Carlos.

Plus we also have 1 free spot so theoretically if thing fall our way, we get 4 new players (for varying amounts of time)

Tough ask finding 4 quality players on short term deals.

We have an injury replacement spot for the rest of the season for Ifill.
We have a 4 week international call up replacement for Caira.
We get no replacement for Carlos, as its an 8 week minimum for injury replacements afaik.

One of those replacement can be an import.

[Edit: Forgot about the 1 remaining roster we also have]

Here was me thinking Welnix were about to open the wallets and at last get us someone who might help draw some punters. Thanks for ruining Xmas.

They can open the wallets all they want, but quality players still have to be available and willing to only be signed up for a short term contract.

We'll be lucky to get one player, any more than that is very unlikely.

Get Cernak back?

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Get Cernak back?

What did he do though? Seemed keen but lacking. Of course last year was a bad situation, but considering he can't even make the first team in Perth...

There's a good attacking midfielder on your doorstep in Cristobel Marquez at ACFC. if you want to see his quality go on the ACFC website and see the video replay of the ACFC vs Hawkes Bay game. He'd be an import but apparently you have such a spot available with the absence of Ifill. I think his game is better overall than Hernandez.

Short term loan deal for an MLS player?

surely there are players out there who are looking for any game time, if i was welnix I'd be looking at Ifills potential replacement, if he is a non import next season then find a midfield import replacement to come play the rest of the season on the basis that if he suceeds we'll hire him long term...

Watched him last night against the Mariners on friend's telly (yes, I only go to NY parties if they have SKY Sport 4).  Reminded myself immediately why we did not miss him much. Looked like a slightly slower Kenny with more hair and less ability to stare wildly. Other than that I can't tell as he barely made contact with the ball (in fairness he was a late sub).

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Given the success of Riera, I hope Ernie has a good look at him. Lightning could strike twice.

Pretty much on the money.

Have you got a different link to that?

It works for me. If it doesn't load and you are running adblock on your browser, disable it on that website and it should hopefully play.

Changed browser and did the trick. Cheers.

He is complementary of his players and admits when he gets things wrong (Hicks as a 10 - we forecasted this Ryan :o)  )

I like his composure and he really does make it about the team. There is a massive difference between him and Ricki and it just shows.

I don't think he was referring to anyone in particular that he has lined up about these 'surprises'. More a case that the players he sign would be surprises as a general statement.

Someone to replace Brockie would be nice.

Disagree.

Brockie is going through a bad patch, but he is what, 26 years old? He has at least 5-6 seasons to go excluding any injuries.  All he needs to have is a bit of help, whatever may work for him, be it time on the pine or no time on the pine (I don't know him well enough to answer). Dropping him completely is not an answer - all you have is an expensive baggage which is unlikely to improve our chances, and no cover for injuries.

We do need another option up front, so that the current winning combination of Stein+Boyd does not get bled dry. At present they have an excellent understanding, while in contrast Kenny does not seem a natural partner for anyone, let alone Brockie.

Meant to be quite tongue in cheek, we all know what Brockie is capable of. He's obviously in very poor form and in my opinion he just doesn't fit the system we're trying to play. His natural game lacks structure, which was great under Ricki as all we did was lob long balls up and hope, but under Ernie we need someone with a touch and vision and obviously a finish. In his current form I don't think Brockie is ticking many of these boxes.
If Ernie says he's looking for another striker then I would imagine it would be to provide competition with Brockie.

In saying that though I think Cunningham has been equally as poor but seeing as he's playing a midfield role I'm not sure if Ernie will look to strengthen that area.

Fenton out for awhile, time to consider giving Lochhead a ring?

Please be joking. I would rather have a frog at LB.

We only have 2 fullbacks in the squad for the next month, Muscat and Shermy. The other option is to play Adams or Boxall out of position. Bringing in some experienced cover would be a good idea given those options. Hogg is another Ernie could also consider.

Yeah for a months cover for Caira being called up to u22s and now Louis out, Lochhead would not be a bad call up for a month to fill a hole. It's 4 weeks, costs the club nothing and can play 90mins straight away (I say considering his experience etc). Once Caira is back, he goes back in at LB.

I think that would be a smart move. Allows Manny to move to right and it's not like Lochhead has never worked with Dura, Sigmund and Manny in a back line before.

Our FB situation is that bad unfortunately...

Grumpy old bastard alert

Agree, I'd rather have Lochhead than Neill... (and we need some experience who can give us 90mins if/when necessary and few/no other candidates come to mind).

Whilst we can take more of a chance up front, Lochhead would cause minimum disruption and we can spend the money where we need to.

Hang on BM ... you can't go offering up all the Central/ACFC jewels! The Nix have had Siggy, Boxall, Hogg, Ridenton, Hicks, Riera...  and they'll be in for Browne & Irving and possibly Tade or Krishna soon enough. So for now they get to keep playing with Riera (ex-Spanish non-league part-timer) and we'll keep playing Marquez (ex-La Liga). Playground Rules.
