Costanzo is too old now, would be a waste of money. Don't think that Salley would be a good investment conidering that we need to sign attacking players to improve. But wouldn't be a bad squad player if we could get him on the cheap.

We need to be careful we're not just picking up the crumbs. Adelaide doesn't want him and Sydney also appears not to be interested. There should be at least some warning bells sounding there.
Next season has to be a big one for Phoenix if we are going to attract anywhere near the break-even home attendance of 10,000, which means carefully recruiting the right personnel. There are only 4 import positions available, so filling them needs to be properly researched rather than just making the easy pickings that require little effort but that may not produce the winning, enteraining brand we need.

Looking back at the match programmes I have, Diego seems to have been a bit player in Adelaide's campaign this season. The import signings we make for next season will need to be of the quality able to command starting positions week in and week out. In other words, they will need to be the nucleus of the starting XI around which we fit the remainder of the squad.

What is the average wage at the Phoenix? A few people from home etc have asked me and I literally have no idea?

Yeah, relative to the great world of football, you're right el grapadura. Do you think the salary cap for the A-League is too low? I guess it's a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it gives clubs some protection from getting into financial difficulties, and enables more of a level playing field between clubs. On the other hand, it means the A-League is not going to attract better quality players, a consequence of which is that the standard of football will be inferior and crowd support lower.

In addition to protecting clubs from financial difficulties, increase in the salary cap would immediately widen the gap between the haves and have-nots in the league - Sydney, Gold Coast, and probably Melbourne would greatly benefit from the increase, while the likes of Perth and Newcastle would really struggle. Then you would end up with a very uneven competition as well, one thing that FFA has tried desperately to avoid.
I guess the plan is to gradually increase the financial viability of the clubs and the profile of the league, and keep increases of the salary cap in line with such growth, to both keep clubs away from financial trouble and the competition relatively even. They should make it so their are more substitutes on the bench tio give the coach a better selection.
When Durante got injured against Sydney we had to be very carefull when we subbed.
Yeah, 4 is not enough, evenb having one more sub on the bnch would help!
