this 'speculation' thread has turned into a wish list,or a "which random player in the entire world has just come off contract" thread

So since Mulligan is now out of contract with the Phoenix? are we going to re-sign him?

Yeh f*&^ wouldn't have minded seeing him play once instead of Diego, but Diego didn't do terribly when he played so. Yeh. Like Ricki said he might be good enough for the A league, just that the players that we had were better.

Claham, Barron.

Please, please, please release Dadi
Permalink Permalink

No need to release Dadi, he was signed only on a short-term deal until the end of last season.

Yeah but they were talking about negotiations and I really don't want him to stay, we can do a lot better than him
Permalink Permalink

Didn't Dadi say he was contemplating retirement?
Permalink Permalink

either retirement or one more season.  Last word from club was they were negotiating with him and Caceres.

I would like to keep Caceres and release Dadi.  Caceres is rumoured to Adelaide though

I expect it will be all quiet on the transfer front until after the UK season finishes. Then expect an announce ment of one or possibly two players from a good level.

Remember both Ifill and Greenacre have constantly said they have contacts in the UK eager to come and play in the A-League. In fact when Greenacre was asked if he knew of any good players interested in coming he said " I have a list as long as my arm"

I have just come back from a business trip to the UK....their economy is in the shiite big time. Lots of depressing news about the viability of the football business. Plus the Pound is very weak against the NZ/Aus dollar which makes player recruitment very attractive.

I think we are in for a pleasant surprise when the quality of the new signings are made.....

Steal Carle from under Sydney's nose imo

Maybe we could get someone like Stern John from Crystal Palace - not sure if he'd be good enough though. Out of contract after this season. Decent replacement for Dadi.

Surely we're looking for someone younger than that.

Who cares how old they are as long as they can play..

Charlie Miller, Fowler, Dadi to an extent - these players shouldn't be able to walk anymore let alone kick a football but they have been standouts in this league.

I just think we need to sign someone more like Ifill's age so that we have them for three or four seasons, not have to go looking for a new man every 12 months as the old bloke breaks down.

NZ players excepted.

I agree to an extent but I think having the odd player who is a bit older isn't that bad - as long as we don't go out and buy a team of 35 year olds

He's a young defender (17?) that Ricki is keeping an eye on, and spent some time training with the club this season just gone.
