Yes, but any articles disproving it would have been censored by the government...

And no, Krishna will not pass as a Kiwi citizen.

Why does he not? He's worked here for about two years I think but maybe he hasn't stayed here between seasons or something?????

And I guess same question bout Corrales.

I do feel that Roy has the edge and will probably be signed

As far as I know he hasn't applied for residency at all and if he had I suspect somebody on here would've posted it, and I doubt it would all be processed before the coming A-league season starts if he was to do it now.  And according to wikipedia Krishna's only been playing in NZ since 2008.  Some chap earlier mentioned they need to be here 3 years, so assuming they're right he hasn't been here long enough.

So from those things it seems very unlikely to me, but there could be a lot more I don't know.

An interesting point I heard earlier on was that because every team can have one Asian player who doesn't count as an import they may try to see if Roy Krishna would qualify as an Asian player through his Indian ancestry.

Lol - He's from Siberia- does that help?
Are we sure its 3 years? Daniel got his last season and surely he hasn't been here for 3 years?

Bosnich to Swindon Town?? Can't see that. But if he really is considering it well surely he should be within our financial scope?

Still rate him as the best around.
Don't know about best aroungd.. but he does have something to offer.
Just don't know how good he will be in the team

U21 and Australian. If he's good enough to challenge Paston then I'll be happy.

LGs gonna be rather excited

After three weeks of light training, the Wellington Phoenix step up pre-season work next week in preparation for their third season in the Hyundai A-League. The current squad will be joined from Monday, May 4, by several players beginning month-long trials with the Phoenix.

These trialists include strikers Roy Krishna (Waitakere United) and Luis Corrales (Team Wellington), as well as 20-year-old, 1.97m (66) goalkeeping giant Reece Crowther from English Championship club Queens Park Rangers.

News this am that QPR had released him and I was wondering where he might go. Good buy for the Nix from what my fellow QPR fans are saying. Also a very tall guy. He didn't get a chance behind Cerny and Camp and there's two other younger keepers at QPR coming through so Reece was surplace at this stage. mind you with Paladini as Sports Director at QPR, the Nix might sign yet another free given away gem! Gotta love the dom image caption- 'VANCE RETURNS: Vance Lia has not been on the field since tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the Phoenix's first Pre-Season Cup match last July.'

Right so could this Crowther chap be one of our youth players or is he too old at 20?

It's also rather unexpected that we could pick up a young guy from England to come play football in the A-League.

Edit- Ah he's Australian...

News out on the HAL website that Robbie Kruse may sign for us.
Permalink Permalink

i decided to post instead of telling bigtobz to get back to work...

According to wiki, Crowther "is in the unique situation of being able to play for four countries. Republic of Ireland, Australia, United States and England"

what that means in terms of imports is beyond me - especially as he may not have Oz citizenship.

if he hasn't played for Oz nothing is stopping him declaring for one of the others. Also, presumably if he was in NZ long enough he would become eligible for us...

Yes indeed, here's the source for that

Hmmmmm......

Never liked him. Little sh*t.

But I suppose he does have some potential if he can stop crying and pull his head in. And I thought Lay Lay Down would be great so he might be ok...

Wow all this is getting me excited. I'm thinking it's under 21 before start of season so 20 is fine.

Great news sounds promising

If his head is sorted out, his attitude is right, and his ex stays in Brissy - could be a win-win-win... if not...

Though I'd trust in TP/RH's judgement... he's gotta be better than Brownlie

Kruse has got talent to burn and would be a great aquisition - subject to attitude and behaviour.

I think a "quiet" 5 minutes with Siggy, Brownie and McKain would sort out any of those issues.

Whilst I would be happy with Kruse (with guidence and mentoring) as our 3rd youth player we would still need a proven striker / target man.

Greenacre, target man, Kruse, best of Krisna / Corrales and Costa and you have great striking stocks for next season and, potentailly, quite a few seasons to come.

Cannot remember what the sauce was but last I heard a month ago was that Kruse has got his head sorted out, regrets the past issues, is very serious about getting on track and is as fit as he has ever been.

Greenacre plus whoever is firing out of Costa, Luis Krishna and Kruse would be very useful indeed, but would we sign both Roy Corrales and Kruse?

And advantage to Kruse coz of his age and experience, as long as he's got his lid sorted out... with the better of the other two - as has been indicatified all along...

did Hearfield dematerialise after Alex Brosque pissed him off last year? he would have to be up there...possibly ahead of both Khrishna and if he shows up Kruse...not sure about where he and Costa fit in...and no one mentioned Bertos who did play up front and nurdled a few across the line...

Worth a look I reckon

Robbie Kruse fit for image change at Queensland Roar <!-- author --> <!--dt><img src="/images/author.jpg" border="0" alt="Greg%20Buckle" /></dt--> By Marco Monteverde
<!--strong>Former Australian Captain</strong --> April 11, 2009 <!-- // author --> <!-- // lead story --> <!-- story -->

An off-season of intense fitness work and a new attitude has reformed bad boy Robbie Kruse ready to prove his critics wrong.

With his contract at Queensland Roar almost up, Kruse is unsure where his future lies.

But wherever he ends up, the 20-year-old attacking weapon is out of his comfort zone and desperate to make up for a season marred by off-field controversy, injury and indifferent form.

His hard road back began soon after the Roar's 2008-2009 campaign finished with a disappointing 1-0 preliminary final loss to Adelaide United on February 21.

While half of his Roar teammates took off on an end-of-season trip to Asia and the rest put their feet up at home, Kruse opted against taking a break.

Instead, he teamed up with fitness guru Darren Young, who put the former Australian under-17 international through a relentless five-week regime of running and boxing.

It resulted in a leaner, meaner and keener Kruse reporting to the Roar's first training session of the pre-season last Monday.

"Last season I didn't play much, so it was like I was having a break then," said the one-time boy wonder, who after taking the A-League by storm in Queensland's 2007-2008 campaign played just four first-team matches in 2008-09.

"I needed to do what I do in the off-season to get out of my comfort zone."

So often dubbed "lazy" during his career, Kruse said he had never been fitter.

"I can't really wait to prove to people that I'm not lost and I can keep playing," he said. "I don't like the lazy tag but I guess I've brought it on myself.

"Last season was a massive blow for me. It's all my fault and I don't blame anyone else.

"I'm just looking to put it behind me and try to forget it really happened. It's all I can really do. I can't expect people to forgive me overnight, so hopefully I can win their trust and respect back."

Where Kruse will play his football in the 2009-2010 A-League season remains a mystery.

He's unsure if he wants to stay at the Roar and the club doesn't know whether they still want him.

"I'm just here to do the pre-season and try to impress as much as I can," he said.

"I'm still a contracted player here, I'm still doing the work, so until I'm not contracted, it'll be business as usual."

Roar coach Frank Farina said he was in no rush to decide if Kruse and defender Ben Griffin would be offered new contracts.

Farina's assistant Rado Vidosic hinted that the ball was in Kruse's court.

"If he shows that he can get back to where he was, I'm sure we will keep him," Vidosic said.

"But if he doesn't show any improvement from last season, it probably wouldn't be smart to keep him."

That's illegal in a number of countries Whitby boy, and bear in mind children read this thread.

Kruse would be alright I suppose.  If he whinges a lot we can always sub him can't we?  Also, was just thinking, this Crowther chap is under 21 which is the age one must be to declare their national allegiance, so is their a chance, if he is good, for us to naturalize him?  Or would he need to be a citizen of NZ before he was to be naturalized, because if that was the case it obviously wouldn't be able to happen before he was 21.

He's not eligible to play for New Zealand, so he can't 'opt' to play for NZ at this stage.
