Tony P already said that if/when they win the NZFC they won't go for the O-League.

Yeah but who will get the O-league spot if we win? The next best?
I do think maybe we shouldn't be allowed in the play offs. Would be the fairest way in my view

Sadly past it.

I read in the paper that Adelaide are linked to Lloyd Owusu. Decent player.

What about Aaron Scott as a replacement centre back? In the herald article on the front page he has been training with the nix AND is cover for left back. Sounds like a winner to me...

Barron, Banners, Scott, Krishna and Corrales... even the grey and miserables would struggle to claim that the pHoenix aren't giving NZFC players a look.

Guess we will have to wait and see who (if any) are signed.

I like the idea of a replacement LB but I really would prefer someone to put lochy on the bench or at least give him some competition. Don't know who though???

Is Barron trialling too?

Just training me thinks. Lots of players seem to be but I guess If they really impressed then we would sign them.
Don't know if we'd need a Barron anyway.

Because our coach doesn't come from that part of the world and didn't coach the players he is linked with in the past.

Yeah thats true. But the initial signings of those players could cause interest in our league could it not. Because Kisel seems to me to be a well established player over there so this signing will surely increase knowledge of our league over there? Of course this guy isn't looking at this level - no way. But Sydney have helpeed this league by aquiring two great figures of the game. Possibly we could have a shot. Guess no one has to links to them but Sydney..

And if we found anyone willing to come down here then Sydney would probably be preferable I guess.

Nice post in 442 today
.....quotes Tony P as saying" they are continuing to talk to players agents in their attempt to sign another striker......most likely to come from England but they are looking throughout Europe as well......hopeful of signing someone soon as it now becomes more easier as the European season starts to come to an end"

Great news....the hunt is still on!

I've got a good feeling about this season - I think we learnt a lot of lessons last year - not the least of which is that we absolutely must have 2 top strikers to compete with the top tier teams - reflected in the obvious focus Tony P has on the 2nd striker signing.

I'm sure we will have also learnt  from the painful start to last season and will hit the ground running this year - helped significantly by having a stable and cohesive back four, McKain having settled very well into the DM role and hopefully Diego adding creativity in the front 3rd.

Ahhhhggggg - still 3 months until kick-off.

yeah, 1st season our attack was pretty good, but defense terrible, last season it was more vice versa. Hope we get a better balance this season.

Is it likely we will sign alot of NZFC players if we get that reserve team. Like will Krishna and Coralles both come instead of just one?

Coralles will be to old, and i dont think we would waste a spot on him

Don't think age would matter its not a youth team but a reserve team right?

some may correct me if im wrong. but we dont really have players that score goals and defend well. Tim browns good but he doesnt have the skill of a player like leo or daniel. we need that all round midfielder

I think it would be quite a challenge to find and sign midfielders who can defend like McKain and score like Charlie Miller in the A-League

not necessarily an all round player to that extent. im not sure wether nick ward for Melbourne might be a good example?

We do have strength in defensive midfield though, I'd prefer any new midfield players that are signed to first and foremost be creative enough to provide the opportunities we lacked last season.

Was it "Half Full" or "Half Empty"?

Knowing this will help us determine how long he will be out for...

This probably sounds stupid, but people are talking about a midfielder like Fred. I was watching the Olympic game and i noticed that Raf has the abillity to play good one touch balls, certainly not as good as Fred but he is strong on the ball and has a pretty good shot. He must be more genuinly talented then Plodder....

Trouble with; finding and signing Targetman, choosing between Krishna and Correles, discussions with Kruse,.......??

Any  hints on trouble with what ?

Andy Barron, on current form, is a step up on Raf. He's fit, playing regularly, in the AW squad and, in my opinion, on the way up, not down. Raf was a great player but seems to have taken a step backwards recently. Andy is moving up with his football and getting better every season. I'm pretty sure Ricki is looking at Andy VERY closely for a posible Nix contract

Its no longer a problem.

Is he as talented as Raf tho ? Or as experienced ? Raf could be like Ross Aloisi, as in providing experience. Not in a captians sense.

No, it's based on citizenship rather than representation. He still has Aussie citizenship so he doesn't count as an import.
