There's only 2 strikers in League One that have played for Manchester City that I could find. Chris Greenacre and Lee Peacock. Both's contract expire this season so I'm pretty confident (if the article is to be believed) that one of these is who we're after.

Paul Dickov who had two spells with Man City plays for Leicester in league one right now. Steve Howard and Matty Fryatt have been in excellent form so Dickov might not be getting the game time he wants. He is 36 though so bit of a gamble. Dunno if he's been mentioned before but just thought I'd give a bit of insight!

When he was at Rovers, he always ran himself into the ground, but couldnt score in a brothel, now he is older his motor is prob gone, so doubt he would be worth it.

It also says Krishna is the only NZFC player they are keeping tabs on, and Fred is still a possibility. I tried to find a web link but couldn't, but it does say it.

They should be looking at Luis as well, and hunting for a yoof player.

Back when we found out Brockie had been signed by North Queensland people were mentioning that Krishna had been picked up by them as well.  I assume, from all of the comments, that that never happened.

Those Greenacre goals are all from 2005. Covs would have a decent show reel if you went back in time with all the goals he's knocked in..

What I meant was there's only 2 that qualify within the scope of the article. I didn't include him as
1) He's 36 so well outside the ages the article mentioned &
2) His contract doesn't expire until 2010 so we would have to pay a fee for him

6 months is to allow for the Asian Champions League.  If he fails they can bail out easily.

After a beleaguered season of bad form back in the K-League, Cho signed for Gamba Osaka on Christmas Day of 2008 for a fee of $3.5 Million.

Yeah Wyners we can afford that. Muppet.

Any truth to the rumour that we have signed 3 of Asia's finest Wee Doh Ping, Yai We Won and Li Quid Poo?

Christie was fragile and useless when he played for Boro..Ricketts would be better (not much tho) ..in the mould of big target man so would need runoff players.

Considering what the majority of players in the MLS earn we could afford him under the salary cap..

Another thing that makes me frustrated about not knowing our potential signing targets(although i understand and back the reasoning behind not spilling the beans.) is that all around us, we are hearing of all the other clubs make signings for 09/10 and I'm thinking, hang on wheres ours?

I know it cant be helped but i guess it doesnt make not knowing any easier!

So now im praying we will get some signings very soon coz tbh, Im desperate!

It's gonna be a long off season for you then Torne.  I'm not expecting anything for ages.

I think you hear of the other signings  because of their participation in the ACL and they desperately need to get their squads finalised

What is worth noting is that (in the main) the clubs signing players are CCM and NUJ both of whom start the Asian Champions League in a month and the two new sides who don't already have most of a squad signed.

Any news on these?

#2) Jeremy Christie
#12) Richard Johnson

Nothing Jaza.

Plodder is definitely around as he was spotted at the sevens and afterwards.  Suspect Johnson is as well but no news on contracts or offers.

I remember reading somewhere:
Johnson likely to retire, but not going to re-sign definitely
Christie, waiting to see how other signings pan out before making a comitment
Permalink Permalink
about 17 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
If you re-signed Dodd, then one of Johnson/Plodder (surely not both?!), and assuming Diego actually arrives you'd have 17 players.

Signing the compulsory goalkeeper and the compulsory U21 player takes you up to 19 signings. Then the two foreign forwards (will surely be two to come in) makes it 21 players signed.

So one or two other spots to be filled...

Wasn't it reported somewhere that RJ was retiring?

I really hope we do resign Plodder.
