He has come along massively from the Chatham Cup final last year where he was pretty ineffective.

He's always been a handy central league player. A big forward with an eye for goal. I've always questioned his ability to step up and I don't think I was alone there. Sounds like he's put some yards in and trimmed down and given himself every chance...you can only applaud that in any player!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I think Watson has got better and better. He isn't the fastest forward, but he uses his size to good use.

I'm positive things will go wrong.

The best thing is after seeing him improve over the past year or so gives good reason to think he can keep going. A lot of young players come to a stall at some point.

Fuck this stupid game

I agree with you. I had a chat with Milicich a couple of years back re U20s and he was saying that they liked him but his size was affecting his pace/mobility and he had just trimmed down at that point. I saw him with HBU and thought he was basically going to peak at ASBP and be done but he seems to have taken to professionalism well. Good on him. If he can keep that balance of strength and size vs mobility, that will serve him well against strong CBs ala Muscat, Sigmund et al.

I have never seen watson play, but from monitoring on here over the last year it sounds like he's gone from likely ASBP journeyman to a proper professional prospect, through nothing but hard work on his own part.

A tip of the hat to the lad, much respect, I really hope he gets somewhere - if not the nix then somewhere else

Well, 3 of them play for Miramar, so I'd say that's the maximum number.

But how many of the new TW players will play for Miramar next winter? pretty sure that was the trend last year. Not saying its a bad thing either - actually its very good for the league - just saying the 'two' oraganisations are very much the same. I'm all for a Hutt Valley based team - certainly enough talent around the CL/Wellington region (Nix youth net inc.) and would add to the interest of ASBP football in Wellington.

So, who's coming up the Coast tomorrow?

The Boundary Pub, bottom of Raumati Road @ 12ish. Then, 300m walk to Weka Park. Lets hope it doesn't snow like last time!

I'm always a bit jealous when the Nix play at Weka Park, because I lived right next door on Tui Road and I used to play there as a young 'un, back in the days of Raumati Hearts.
