So 2-1 final?

Guess Thundersticks is out enjoying the sun, no official tweets so far. Yakcall saying Watson/Waffles/Leo up front, Kenny on the right with Manny and Bertsch in the middle. Maybe its a 4-4-2?

This should still be quite a strong team in theory-

Who was the defence? Boxall and Adams, with Louis and Caira?

the central region xi really owned the first half and there were some good performances from them, especially the two in the middle of midfield, peverley and i assume it was tvaroh with him?

chris campbell in goal made some awesome saves and bill robertson looked a good player

So news is Ernie signs Soromon, Peverly and Chettleburgh...??? (didn't know the others but those guys were certainly on the radar of much higher honours than central league yeh?)

Permalink Permalink

Wasn't Chettleburg right in the mix but for a bit of an attitude problem/clash with Ricki?

It was both of them, pretty ugly. Manny and one of their players collided and fell on the ground together scuffling. Then Siggy ran in as obviously Manny, who was on top of the other player, couldn't handle it on his own.

Apart from that it was a clean game. There is no excuse for that from either of them.

Great day up there, even though it was a trial game. Will be good to see the top team play together. I came away happy with Fenton at rb when he came on, and Rufer looks good potential. Just wondering what's wrong with Muscat. Just gave the ball away so easily too often. Came away from nightmares from last season. But generally energy and urgency was good for a run around game.  Need a quality defensive midfielder still. Muscat and Lia ain't gonna cut it.

He's learnt his lesson then.

It was a good day to have it. The central league selection d=played well, they played some pretty good football in the first half. Nix picked it up in the second although played the last 30 odd minutes with 10 men, Ifill off with a knee injury. Got to stand quite close to the nix bench so could hear the coaches instructions which was interesting. Ernie seems very keen to play a high line of defense.

Rufer and Fenton were class when they came on at half time, first time I've really got to see Rufer, he has good vision and came on as a central midfielder, I would be more excited than concerned if he had to start in that role after seeing him. Hysugems was good. Cunningham does look quick but didn't do much in his half game.

I think the red head left back will probably be signed, he looked like he had a good touch at least, not completely convinced by his defense but he loked better than Gulley who must be the next option.

Manny was awful.  Really, really awful.

edit to say that I really wasn't paying that much attention to the game, but it seemed every time I watched for a bit he was awful.  Really, really awful.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked

Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

I didn't think he was that bad. It wasn't a good game from him though.

I only saw the second half, but apart from the starters I didn't think anyone stood out except 14 - Bertsch I presumed, but maybe Rufer, who looked pretty useful playing in front of Manny.  If it was Bertsch then a bit of a call to sign him as an import but he looked an upgrade on Lia on that 45mins. Some nice distribution and broke up play well.  Who was 23?

I thought Fenton looked good at RB, had a bit to do defensively and closed it down well, plus got forward well.

Nix pretty much controlled the second half, even with 10, and apart from a couple of breaks.  Nix first goal was just pressure on the ball to turn it over high and an easy finish.  Stein looked very tidy.  I didn't see enough of Cunningham before he came off but he looked quick and professional, he was pretty involved in the 20 mins or so I saw of him and generally got past his marker.  Not a big guy for sure.  LB seemed to get caught out a couple of times, not sure who was there from the other side of the pitch.

Seemed like a decent runaround, and I'd say cruising something less than full noise.  Plenty of building and resetting from the top third.

Agree with the comments that Manny looked pretty much as ordinary as he did last season.

Yep Rufer and Fenton really really stood out. Fenton imo will be a much better right back than Bertos. If I were Ricki I would seriously consider looking at him for the All Whites. I would also be pretty disappointed if Ricki wasn't at that game. We'll see how Fenton goes this season but he could just be a masterstroke in that position.

Hope I havn't spoken too soon.

So can anyone post a who played and in what position for us that couldn't make it?

Was it a ginga? Would probably be Brindell-South (Sherminator)
