Domey did say a lot of up beat, positive things about the Nix.....which is great. But why go on about the crowd numbers.....it does my head in. 

The NZ media don't need any any prompting to fire negative shots at football...why give them any ammo. He just needs to say we are getting around 8000 in Wellington......so anymore than that in Auckland is a bonus for us. Kill the crowd angle story. Focus on the great Nix form, the exciting football we are playing......the entertainment we will put on. First, Second, third rule in marketing....stay POSITIVE

I definitely recall some Orcland people commenting about how they needed a good showing otherwise the Nix (and possibly All Whites) wouldn't be back at least one of the matches up there (I think we played Adelaide).

I always go to the games in Auckland but this game is on the same day as my wedding. That really really sucks.

it's actually a shame that we have to go to Hutt rec toward the end of a season where we could potentially be doing well and be making some money off decent crowds at Westpac. 

Did we not play there in 2010-ish against the Roar? i remember one of their players saying it was boring.

Pretty sure Welnix will bank the transfer fee paid for Brockie, so there is that, plus given that we make the playoffs, i don't see why the club wouldnt turn over a profit this season? They didn't lose much last season, and we came dead last.

They said that costs have increased this year, the playing squad is more expensive and the weenix also cost.

LOL......Domey mate, love your work but please give this argument a rest. Never in the history of event marketing has anyone bought a ticket because the promoter has high venue expenses. People don't give a shiite..they go for multiple reasons that have nothing to with the promoters bottom line. Threatening customers is BAD MARKETING.  Imagine a restauranter saying "if people don't come and eat at my restaurant I will take it somewhere else. LOL

So where exactly is Domey going to take his team if Aucklanders don't come?????? I hear there are some paddocks on the Chatham islands that could be OK for a football match. Can see the press release now..."its cost us big time to come here....if Chatham islanders don't show up...blah blah blah..."

The problem with what Domey has just done is that he has shifted the media narrative to the crowd numbers. The Nix could blitz the Mariners next weekend but you watch.....the media will be fixated not on the Nix's performance.....the story will be "good Nix game but where were all the people????" 

 Football in NZ always does this....why? Crowd numbers, bottom line is back room stuff......just promote the football match FFS

there was never an aspect of being scolded with Terry's Nix. I remember you wanted to go to the game for Smeltzy and a couple of tricky Brazillians, never because you had to do it for the good of football in New Zealand, as if it was some kind of chore. After Morgan and co there has been a continuous nagging scold to us the naughty public- do this or else...not the reason you want to be going to football matches. It is very rare to see a crowd story for ITM cup or for Super 15, yet these are not always great.

Surely we do not get charged by the Westpac Stadium for the games we cannot play (CWC).   Surely Hutt Rec is charging us less per game than Westpac - so even if we get 8K pax (which we are edging towards now)  I am not sure we would lose a lot of $$$.

They said a while back that the squad is more expensive. So either we were under the cap or (as has been rumoured) WeeMac is partially outside of the cap as a domestic marquee.

If someone is outside the cap, its a first for the Phoenix and I wonder why the change of tune and also not mention it....

The article does mention we have a full squad, not sure when we released Caira but that was some time ago. We could still be under the cap, minimum amount of spend is 80% of cap. Will be down to 21 soon.
