so your argument is because we are playing the same and not winning, we should keep the coaches?

I may not have a position on this but that is an odd one.

By change of coach  I meant Ernie. My argument is that based on what I've seen the last month green & ham are too similar to Ernie. We need a new broom with this cattle.

That makes a lot more sense. I think I am changing my mind and thinking new coaches is needed. I'm not totally there but I have definitely been moved from my 'I'm ok with Des and Greenie' position.

Admittedly I only watched the game in tv so cannot accurately gauge the effect of the weather on the game but I am hugely disappointed in that performance. We simply cannot do the basics of dribbling and passing well, even some of our throw ins went straight to the opposition. Actually think that game was one where Smeltz would have made a difference

I agree with dribbling and passing. Countless really simple passes went straight to the opposition. It's a shame and beyond me. A-Rod the only midfielder who can pass the ball hard and to the feet to another player.

After a couple of months with no home games I enjoyed the trip into town,  backing the boys and having a go at Adelaide from the zone. Not a classic but love live football.

A lot of eratic wind and fairly slippery.  If both sides could finish we might have won that 3-1.

After match comments sum it up for me.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/a-league/88071664/wellington-phoenix-and-adelaide-united-play-out-drab-scoreless-draw-in-miserable-conditions

Phoenix co-coach Chris Greenacre said he was pleased with his side's defensive performance as Adelaide were kept without a shot on target, but felt it was three points lost due to a lack of clinical finishing.

"I think it's a ruthlessness, being really determined to score a goal and I think we just seem to be lacking that.

"The old cliche about going in where the boots are flying and it's dangerous and having that real killer instinct. we just didn't seem to have that."

Wellington now have a quick turnaround before travelling to Perth for Thursday's match. That means two training sessions to get things right in front of goal, which Buckingham said would mean they have to be smart with what they work on.

"It's more about just tweaking certain things. We've come away from the two wide guys and introduced a central forward through the middle, I think we just need to spend a bit more time on making sure we've got the patterns right for those front three and their understanding when we've got possession so we can finish off the chances we create."

One aspect of the game I queried was the makeup of the bench. 1 attacker playing the 10th placed team. Seemed odd.

No friggen way was there more than 4k at that game. We started chanting "We double swiped our tickets" when that rogure went up on the screen. Why wont any one shoot...except Roy trying to shoot when he should

have passed and passing when he should have shot. However Watson did drop two guys at various attempts. And Rossi took one for the team too.

Probably a bit unfortunate not to win the game but it really wasn't great stuff. Greenacre and Buckingham unbeaten of course, but not really causing me any great excitement I have to say. Hopefully Smeltz can finish some of these chances.

Just on this, the normal Nix announcer Jay, is in Japan on holiday. He is really good at the games and does his research, the guy tonight was a fill in and unfortunately was actually embarrassing. I'm not sure he got any of the Adelaide players names right and was nonexistent when announcing the Nix names so the crowd was just kind of clapping.

weather was appalling so I won't be to harsh, just really we should have finished off at least one of those chances and that would have been enough.Watson had the touch of a heard of elephants for much of the game. I thought the game was hugely enjoyable, if you didn't get too hung up on expecting quality. We had two sides, a ref, and an announcer to abuse, it was great fun. I thought parkhouse and Rodriguez improved things markedly when they came on, I'd play them both next week, maybe parkhouse can add some width we desperately needed tonight. A half fit smeltz has to be a better option up front surely?

Goes to show the contempt that the Stadium has for the Phoenix games. Surely 5 minutes of research is not too much to ask for a PROFESSIONAL Stadium announcer!

I still enjoyed the evening even the football was not the best, great last 10-15 min. We had the full TV no AD screen back at the stadium, that was good. Was not really cold and the city is empty, took me only 10 min to drive home. I guess we have accept the fact that no new coach coming in the near future and hope for some improving football with the current setup. I'm looking forward for more regular games at the westpac. Maybe draws and the occasional win is the way to go at the moment. And climbing the ladder in baby steps. We have to stay positive support the team. Maybe Smeltz is surprising us.

Last five weeks we have played the bottom four teams (other than us) and have won just one.  That isn't going to propel us into the top six, and doesn't bode well for playing the top five.

he was shocking - the only name he got right was Hamish Watson! It's well embarrassing when he can't even get the home team players names right! He summed it up at the end by saying the final score was zero zero

Spot on.

These last 4 games was the chance to get on a roll.

We have not. I feel like we've missed our shot, now.

It will not get any easier; starting with a trip away to our grrrivals.

Either pop next door to the sports dept or even go see club officials from both teams and get the pronounciations ritht, not rocket science is it?

Hatter, we were wondering what that was about. Stadium security and their cctv complained to the fun police and asked you to be removed. Only at Westpac where sober fans having fun can get ejected and drunks annoying people get to stay.

Next up, Westpac Stadium security staff to implement new policies. The first one is: Anyone caught cheering on their team is to be ejected, 2) Anyone caught in a good mood is to be ejected, 3) Anyone caught banging a drum is to be ejected, 4) Anyone caught with a balloon or condom (includes both new or used ?) on their personage is to be ejected.......

Agree with this sentiment. We've had worse runs of form than this before, much worse in fact, but I think this one just feels different. The vibe from the club is basically just that players and management have given up and are running out the 4 years until we fold. I'm not saying that is what is happening but that is what it feels like. We need a clear out and some fresh ideas and fresh faces but instead we are re-signing players who would hardly be in demand elsewhere even when we don't have a manager, and looking like we will hire Greenacre and Buckingham despite no obvious improvement since they've been interimming. And Greenacre is a nice guy and was a good player for the club but has only been assistant as part of two coaching regimes which ended in a death spiral of poor football and no results. This desire to stick with the status quo even when the status quo is not working is infuriating.

If us, as fans of the club, are finding it a tough watch then how do we expect to win over the casuals we need to be turning up or watching us on Sky so the club can meet its #metrics and survive?

Hatter probably wouldn't have been blowing up balloons had the action on the pitch been an exciting and productive effort. Sad that it took till the 89th minute to finally come alive. The rest of the match was basically boring and crap and it only went to endorse comments passed by a certain Fox spokesman.
