YAY, I'm in the Doom Post. I'm upset that they didn't credit it to "Delirious", though.

Cheers Ricki for all the good times you gave us

Now team for tomorrow: Moss, Sigmund, Durante, Boxall, Muscat, Smith, Boyd, Sanchez, Fenton, Gamiero and Waffles.  3-5-2 as it's only Newcastle and the owners want attacking football

Someone said that Piney lost some credibility with his report on Cernak. I missed what that was?

Some of those old Phoenix cart-horses will now surely be following Herbert to the knackers - time to redecorate / stock up on dog-food, prices will be plummeting.

Maybe Greenacre is very good coach, we don't know yet. There are examples of very good young coaches. He must have some fresh ideas, and I guess he is hungry. Interesting times.

I think most of us are judging him on the attack this year (seeing as he's in charge of it apparently) and we haven't exactly been putting heaps in the back of the net. But you're right, without Ricki he might be amazing?

Yeah, agreed we hven't been scoring many but we've been getting in positions to. Attacking coach will be coaching them on how to get into scoring positions, which we have been. The actual finishing needs more one on one coaching.

Nobody knows how good or bad a coach he is, except the players. He's only gonna be coach till the end of the season anyway, I expect.

Yeah point taken on the finishing. But I'm judging just as much on how our attackers aren't finding each other (e.g. Brockie & Huysegems generally play like they've never met each other before), or finding space for themselves, than pure goals scored. And you've got to admit that the attack on Sunday regressed at least 2 years to "get it to someone on the wings, and pump it in". Granted that Greenie has nothing to do with some of the chokes we've seen in front of goal though (e.g. Ifill in 1st half vs Adel).

Time will tell I guess! Will be real interesting to see what the vibe of the team is as they run out tomorrow.

Still not into believing one-post wonders irrespective of how correct they turn out to be. Ken Ring-esque.

Being careful not to use any swear words or almost-swear words, I don't have much time for so-called Phoenix fans who only just joined this forum to do a little dance on Ricki's grave. Now Steve-O, Steve-O has some credit.

I'm hearing from my sources that Gareth is considering the head coach role from next season. Currently up against a Yellow Fever Forum expert panel.

Well, okay - which "cart horses" are you thinking of sending to the knacker's, considering that one of them (Greenie) is now temporary coach?

Can we not keep this on the "knackers and Cart Horse" thread please?

See old posts under yellow_fury (first season, I been here since - mods, can I get my stats back). Been cheering for Ricki's head for a good couple of seasons (IMO always thought it would be good for the club), so apologies, but now is about the time I am slipping on the blue suedes

Well, it was only a matter of time, I guess. I'm not dancing on the man's grave. He did well for a while with what he had, even overachieved to a certain extent, but I think his limitations as a coach finally caught up with him. Thanks for what you did for the Club, Ricki. All the best.

Onwards and upwards.

On radio sport, Durante told Piney that they had no idea about Rikki leaving and the first they heard about it on the radio.

So not "Director of Football"? The word "sinecure" leaps to mind. Ricki will get a title, a small paycheque, be asked to write reports every month or two, but is otherwise out on his ass.

And I still want to know how Frankie Mac over on Knifecrime Island, EU, knows that Ricki had lost the dressing room. Perhaps he's linked to the Phoenix Underground and they tell him things.

Knifecrime Island?  I am in Tauranga.

How do I know that he has lost the dressing room?  The performances.  Either Ifill is a busted flush who cannot run anymore, or he is not trying.

Interesting

Why do you sign Hernandez with the 'its all about the coach and relationship' that got put out there with the signing, Ricki on record two weeks ago saying he is not going anywhere, praising the players for the performance on Sunday and today, he is to be resigning and the players have no clue about it (reportedly)

There is an odor and I don't think its a good one..

Frankie - sorry, had no idea you were back in the country. But if you read Iffy's tweets, it's much more the owners than the coach who are wrecking things for him.

But didn't Dura ask Piney where he heard it?!?

Maybe it goes back to Riki's agent leaking it, and they were going to do it in a more orderly fashion, i.e. tell the players in training, do a press conference, etc.

^ This.

It's not hard to spot from the players' body langauage when they are just going through the motions. The problems on the park were quite obviously stemming from what was or wasn't happening off it.

Sooner we get something official and definitive, the better. Everybody is saying things on this, apart from the Nix and Ricki himself.

perplexing time to do this, but I guess it has been coming. Ricki was never going to survive this season. The true test will be how the club comes o9ut of this season, we've made one decent signing for next season in Hernandez, we still have some good players on the books with 6 spaces potentially becoming free. Hopefully the welnix guys are already looking for a new coach and will announe one before the end of the season - giving the new boss time to find and replace players.

I'm sad to see ricki go, he's was after all part of the team that brought the nix to Wellington so he'll always have a place at the club, like Terry.

If he stays around hopefully he can guide the welnix guys into some smart signings and better things for the club.

I am pleased about this as I have been unhappy about Ricki also running the All Whites. We need a manger whoc can focus 100% on the Phoenix particularly in the off season.
