Ifill said he'd sent Lewis to Millwall 3 years ago, they were keen but the visa issues put them off, might be easier now that he is a regular starter in the All Whites
Can picture the impact of Narelle on the denizens of the Five Bells.

yeah could be true but I'd believe Ifill more (he is a Millwall man) and I doubt Lewis would have turned down a pro contract to play in the U20s

But Sky won't move it's football coms team to Wgtn. So he would need a "Personal Reasons" out clause

We have 18 players signed out of a maximum squad of 23, so don't expect us to be announcing players every week. Things will take time because we need quality, not quantity. I feel for Adelaide fans who have only 12 senior contracts signed & so far only recruited Izzo.
Club very quiet regarding any potential new signings, I realise that we have only installed a new manager but Rado must know of any potential ozzie signings...Hate the off season and already it feels like the longest off season ever!!!

We only have a maximum of 5 roster spots remaining, two of which will be visa signings. So we are only talking about a potential 3 Aussie/NZ signings, all of which need to be starters. Im sure Rado probably knows the likes of Burns/Paartalu & ofc Dario but they will have other options, so it might take awhile to talk them into looking at us.
Kalezić also said when he first started that the club can't afford to make bad signings so will take their time to find the right people. Dome also said at the time that a number of players were quite far down the line of discussions but that deals can fall apart at the last minute so they aren't going to announce anything.

seems fair

Personally, I'll consider this transfer window a failure if we don't get Burns, Vidosic and Clayton Lewis.
We have strong enough connections with all three, be it through club or personnel, and more than enough cap space to make them content (for at least one year of a multi-year deal, anyway!)
Add decent right-back and defensive-mid visa players, and we've improved on several of our departures with plenty of room for younger players to come through when national team duties roll around again

I can predict with almost mathematical certainty that we won't get any of those players, let alone all three, so you're off to a bad start.
It would be fantastic if we could pick up atleast two of Burns, Vidosic, Partalu and Lewis.
According to Lawrie McKinna, the Jets would need to move some players to get Burns. C'mon Domey, get it done!

I would take Burns back as a winger but still want a genuine striker. I doubt he would score as many goals again, and even in that season our lack of height/size up front was a tactical problem once teams stopped pushing up against us.

Wellington Phoenix (18 signed, 2 visa spots remaining)
Lewis Italiano, Ryan Lowry, Dylan Fox, Gui Finkler, Michael McGlinchey, Hamish Watson, Adam Parkhouse, Marco Rossi, Alex Rufer, James McGarry, Tom Doyle, Roy Krishna, Andrew Durante, Matthew Ridenton, Sarpreet Singh, Louis Fenton, Oli Sail, Logan Rogerson
Looking at the already signed players im just interested in what people think of who or what can be added to this squad of players that will get them to the the playoffs this season. From a personal perspective I think it looks very weak in places

2. What is the Salary Cap in the Hyundai A-League?
The Hyundai A-League Salary Cap is $2.60 million for the 2016/17 Season. Clubs must spend at least the Salary Floor which is $2.340m (representing 90% of the Salary Cap).
The Salary Cap applies to the 20 to 23 Players that Clubs have registered to their Hyundai A-League Player Roster. Unless specifically exempt, all payments and benefits (eg. cars, accommodation, etc) provided by a Club to a Player are included in the Club’s Salary Cap.
3. What can Players receive outside the Salary Cap?
Players can receive payments from Clubs outside the Salary Cap in certain circumstances as approved by FFA. These ‘exemptions’ or ‘allowances’ incentivise Clubs to spend in specific strategic areas such as attracting marketable world class players to the Hyundai A-League (Marquee or Guest Players), retaining long-serving Players on multi-year contracts (Loyalty Players), encouraging the development of young Australian Players (Homegrown Players) or identifying late-developing Players that may have missed the traditional player pathway (Mature Age Rookie).
The following discretionary payments are outside the Salary Cap:

During the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 Season, a Club may only register either a Guest Player or a Season 2016/17 Guest Player during the Hyundai A-League Season but not both. A Season 2016/17 Guest Player is included in the 20 to 23 Players on a Club’s Hyundai A-League Player Roster. Guest Players and Mature Age Rookie Players sit outside the Club’s Hyundai A-League Player Roster.
Players on a Club’s Foxtel National Youth League (NYL) Player Roster, including Contracted NYL Players and Scholarship Players, are also eligible to participate in the Hyundai A-League.

Where is the rush? He is a Kiwi and pretty much no other team will sign him as an import. We can wait on him.

I have 4 starters definitely as Oska said at RB, Striker and 2 in the midfield (of some variety)
2 are imports so we need to find 2 Kiwi/AU starters.
Its not going to be easy I suspect

Take out the u23 who are not under the cap, then work out how many signing of Aus/NZ players available (2 x Visa spots a given if we can find them)

From Ozwords.org:
"Something about the line ‘the drink you’re having when you’re not having a drink’ struck a chord with the Australian public. Clayton’s was a word waiting to happen, and it came to mean ‘something that is largely illusory or exists in name only; a poor substitute or imitation’.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

If we play a midfield three and our current mid stocks are Wee Mac, Finkler, Rufer, Ridenton and Singh then yeah he'd be a starter
Peoples Republik of Aucklandia
Maybe not recently, but a year ago, I'd say yeah.
Has by all accounts been a stand out at NZFC and his recent All White form suggests he's worth a shot and is probably closer to a starting spot than most of the NIX youth players. Personally I think he could do a job and would be happy to sign him, although I am not sure what his best position will be, playing as a AM or maybe trying the box to box roll. Has a good engine and can deliver a pass.
Lewis used to be crap. But has, with age + experience, become a very good player in recent months. kinda was hoping ridenton would show the same.

Gotta love that - a 20 year old player who "used to be crap".
When was he crap? Obviously has to be within the last couple of years otherwise he's getting too young to make an assertion like that.
He debuted for the U20s a month after his 18th birthday, so he must have been crap somewhere just before that? Or did he make that team despite being crap?

I bet you even in the national league, Lewis > Ridenton when they played season just gone.
