We have 3 starting mids in Goran, WeeMac and Gui, and 3 backups in Ridenton, Rufer, and Singh. Our backline has similar depth as well - the priority for investment has to be attacking players now.

see id still argue that our midfield is lacks depth. most of those players play the same position and most play attacking roles. Only one of them is defensive and none are the box to box style, unless Ridenton counts as one, which i don't think he does. it leaves our midfield without any engine or linking/transition players.
Of course it would be nice to have better backups but the balance of our midfield looks better than it did last year and most of the year before when we were trying to fit too many similar players on the pitch at once. I wouldn't be against investing more in it but only if we have money and spots left over after we get a striker.
When did Rufer become a DM? Last I checked he was an attacking midfielder.

He said something along the lines that he wanted to be a holding midfielder and cement that position in the team this season.

I've forgotten what he even plays like, so I'd be curious about his best position!

I thought his best position was as a second striker and AM but I think he probably looked at our line up last season and thought with the depth in the attacking third and the departure of Riera that that being a more defensively minded mid was his best way to getting game time.

just cause he wants to play there doesnt mean he will be of the standard which is needed to play there.

Scott McDonald's move to WSW doesn't look to be happening, dunno if he is worth a look?
good player - not sure he would fit the system that well, but much better than Watson.
Fernando was down watching Wellington United so probably weighing up Keegan Smith.
see Keegs was in this training session so maybe taking an even closer look - was 4th choice last year so probably looking at first crack at 3rd.

Very nice photo gallery, makes it all seem real. Thanks!

Seeing as we have both Krishna and Watson who can play through the middle, I think our biggest priority right now should be a right winger.
I hope we play our youngsters alot more this season, I think they're up to the task of playing morethan 2 mins a game.
yung thug
Looks pretty good, little unsure how we can incorporate him into the team with Goran taking the CDM spot, seeing that seems to be Mariga's main position, but he has also played regular CM as well so I think it would be worth keeping an eye on.
plenty of decent players that are free agents according to transfermarkt. Lots of italian strikers from serie b etc available.
Our new coach must have the contacts in Holland you'd think to snare somebody decent for the remaining foreign spot.
Here's the full list of Eredivisie players off contract, including some from Roda JC, the last club Darije managed:
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eredivisie/vertrags...
For example, English striker Simon Church has just been released by Roda (ex Charlton Athletic & Reading):
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/simon-church/profil...
Only 28, would be a decent signing. 38 caps for Wales, including the Euro 2016 semi vs. Portugal
But he's probably more ambitious than to sign for the Nix if he wants to play for Wales. However he only played four games for Roda last season after struggling with a hip injury.
Spanish midfielder Marcos Gullon has just been released by Roda (ex-Villareal & Racing in Spain):

Young Dutch midfielder Farshad Noor has been released by Roda and also played for PSV reserve team which Darije coached a couple of years ago:
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/farshad-noor/profil...
14 Eredivisie appearances last season, 12 the season before under Darije at Roda.
2013 - 2015 played under Darije at PSV u-21 (reserve) team in the second tier.
Simon Church is currently trialling with Hib's in the SPL along with Andrew Blake and jermaine Pennant - there's some company!

Anymore on how Blake is going - he's been getting decent minutes so that's positive??
Quality banter though
I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.
Nix twitter has put their neck out now though - striker that can bring in a crowd... hmmmm

The striker will be also working on the turnstyles on matchday, making sure everyone has the correct ticket!

Jermaine Pennant a maybe? Not a striker but an "attacking player" with a name and currently trialling with Hibs - has played in Asia.

Jermaine Clemment would put more bums on seats

Do people actually think that there's more to that tweet than just the club staying positive on social media? I mean, I'm sure we are trying to sign an attacker but the bit about one who will get punters through the gate is a bit of a stretch. Unless the club means it much broadly - as in, we win more games because of a decent signing so crowds increase. Surely it's just a reply to keep a fan happy.
The only reason I can think that we would drop all the cash on a really big name marquee is if the FFA have it as one of our #metrics for survival. Because only really big names (ADP for instance) will actually draw a crowd just by virtue of who they are, and I can't see WelNix spending that much money on one guy. It doesn't fit their own self-described strategy.

It doesn't fit their strategy, but neither does losing their liscence.
was just trying to read it on my phone. Easier to quote than copy and paste...
Tuiloma has gone to the Timbers - still think he would have been a great pick-up for us and wages must be comparable
Normo's coming home

Maybe the likes of a Pizzaro or a Berbatov.
Affordable (old as shark though), but still bang in the goals + people would know about em.

Robbie Keane or Chamakah could be a bit of a laugh.
Berbatov would be immense.
