World Cup places up for grabs; so we may be able to snag someone short term who may not normally consider the Nix. Of course with FFA/coach situation, selection is a complete lottery at this stage, but players gotta play.

at least he'd be used to wearing stripes (albeit green), not sure the clubs current environment would be suited though - he would be used to a fan base with an undying love for the team.

What I'd like to do if I was manager is spend a lot of money bringing in someone I don't like, for example Cahill, just so I could constantly bench him, never play him and repeatedly tell him he's shark.

Nathan Burns arrived at Wellington Airport last night apparently. If this is true then its huge, Burns-Kaludjerovic-Krishna will be the most potent attack we've ever had. Plus if AK is anything to go by then Ljujic could turn out to be magic. Things are looking on the up

Hopefully we've learned our lesson from what went wrong in the second half of the last time he was here.

No free pizza if he scores.

Honestly Ljujic looks bloody good after watching a few games of his, i take back what I said he could be very good for us. Very, very agile for a tall guy, and a great composed passer too. Like a more attacking Paracki. Burns and him would bring hope back into this season, we could sneak a place if all goes right (i'm reaching here aren't i...)

He was on the same flight as a well known Feverite it turns out. Surprised he didn't break the scoop.

Honestly I don't think you are. I know it looks bad at the moment, 10 points off top 6 is a brutal climb - but we have a game in hand against the almost equally hapless Wanderers, and if Burns and Ljujic deliver the goods and Krishna comes back firing, and AK continues to fire - then 10 points isn't impossible right? My point depends on a lot of 'ands', but who knows.

Worked out a name from hints from a YF Elite & my Twitter sauce confirms it.

Spoiler Alert

Was released by his club on 1st December.

Played in the same team as Kaludjerovic, and he looks decent from this video, plus he's young. But the Lithuanian league isn't the best standard in the world, probably around the Handy. He's going to have to have bossed the league in his time there (like Kalu did - 20 in 19) to stand out for us.

My main gripe is this - we've had del Piero, David Villa, and most recently guys like Cahill, Maccarone and McCormack come into the league - why are we resorting to players released from Lithuania? Every other team in the league this season has brought in at least one player who's been starring in a top league recently, and could easily foot it in a top 5 league. Can't really say the same for us.

Because we don't have as much money as City or Sydney. Brisbane aren't flush with cash but Maccarone is a pensioner. Big stars don't always look great at A League level anyway. Yorke, Fowler, Heskey, Romario - some of them had their moments but overall none made a massive difference to their teams when they were here for instance.

Definitely true that we don't have the cash for truly huge names, but in the course of our history perhaps the biggest player we have ever signed was Huysegems, and by that time he too was a pensioner and living out his days at Lierse, a Belgian relegation-threatened side (1 in 18 btw). Compare that to other sides in the league even just this season - CCM signing established Eredivisie midfielders, WSW bringing in two La Liga regulars, Brisbane signing a striker who captained + banged them in for his Serie A side for the past few seasons as well as a Greek international. Not saying we have to sign Ozil when his contract expires, and I definitely agree with you that reputation =/= results, but maybe we should be aiming higher that Lithuanian rejects? Not to mention a big name could equal bums on seats.

I agree with this. The players who have dominated the league for top 4 teams come from a different level than we are targetting

Nope... That field is one that you can edit. I can make mine say Timbuktu.

I don't think he ever changed it after leaving tbh.
