Scorer of 4 goals for the Nix, not a bad return for a supposed Defensive Midfielder.

Next time he plays- whatch what he does. Most times is is invisible. He hides. I see all the Nix games at least twice.
This guy is an imposter and is not good enough for the AW's. Make sure you watch him next week. He will be out of his depth.

sh*t think there must be 2 Browns playing in our team as the one i have seen play a part in our 13 game unbeaten home run has played some bloody good games.Just shows how each of us sees things differently, see i cant see what all the hype with Daniel is.Go figure.

I'm not dumping on Brown (a poor game today but generally very solid), but early in the first half I was a bit apprehensive when he got pinged for a foul but luckily didn't get yellow carded as I think he is on 4.

Does anyone know what the YC count for the players is at the moment? We seem to pick up a few each week so some others must be getting close to 3 or 4.

I was worried about Brown and Lia playing together as I thought they were very similar players but Vinnie Lia  seems to have that wee bit of creativity that Brown lacks and they seem to be working well together. Brown does the job he's there to do and he's pretty good at it. Leave him be.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I'm not a big fan of Brown as I think he's pretty limited player, but he's got a role to play for the Phoenix. He's one midfield player we have who makes late runs into the box and is decent in the air and he consequently picks up a few goals.

Don't think he's anywhere near international quality though, he always looks very, very poor when playing for the All Whites.

I couldn't agree with you more.

But, i have to say, he is slowly growing on me with his recent performances.

Three for me, and two for them.

The Sydney game was an abiration of form from what the team has been playing of late.

my point is he was invisible the sydney game and against perth. Our 2 worst performances of late and centre mid has gone missing. is this a coincidence? hope rickis having a word 2 mcglinchey about next season

first half
Sydney were discplined and won the battle in the midfield. They passed well, they transitioned well, they put pressure on the ball well.

We didn't have any pace on a attack, couldn't beat a player man on man and our passing was bad because of the pressure so we couldn't get the ball through the midfield.

And we didn't mark up in defence.

so not an aberation of form- just not stepping up a level against a much better side playing to a plan.

If he is meant to be a defensive midfielder how come he is in the top 10 goal scorers in the A league. If that is the case he is not doing the defensive bit as he is meant to do.

Possibly the team went missing because Brown was having an off-day.  So do you think that whole team revolves around him and all the recent positives go back to his great play?

Not that I think that's the case.  Though it's an interesting/amusing thought.

Totally agree Leggy, Tim Brown is murder. All he does is run box to box, wins the odd ball, makes the odd pass and gets the odd tap in. Not once have I ever seen him give a ball and get it back, he passes then stops and watches for 5 mins. He should be playing in the NZFC and that's about his limit.

Welcome to the forum. I thought that I was one of the few people that do not rate Brown. I know it is only my opinion, but I would like to think that I know a little bit about football, and a bloke that steps up and plays one good game in four or five, is not good enough in A league, never mind AW level.

I would take 4 goals from him at half way regardless how he gets them.

I think it's interesting how you've phrased that.

An alternative would be: "isn't it brilliant how our defensive midfield player can get forward and contribute four goals, that guy must be one hell of an athlete."

Unless of course you have some stats or facts to back up your summation that he hasn't been doing his defensive duties.  I'd say he's been doing them well.  He and Lia have formed a formidable combination.

I'm no cheerleader of his, but I do think he's doing more than his bit for us and doesn't deserve the sort of snide criticism you're throwing at him.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

TB does a job for the Nix and more often than not, he does it well. Sure, his form fluctuates, who's doesn't - he also pops up and scores a goal here and there (x2 lol) as well as having leadership qualities within the group and having a passion for the country, the city, and the Nix.

So he isn't Stephen Gerrard, it's the A-League - get over it.

Erm,thats what hes meant to be doing. I think what you're calling "the odd" is actually more than it sounds. I thought you were being sarcastic until i read the last sentence.

It not meant to be snide criticism. The bloke is NOT good enough to be in the AW's. Just watch the game tomorrow, although he may not get a start.
