this lad always turns out good for an aleague team in my FM games :)

Wonder if its on anyone's radar

This guy always did well for me on Pro Evo 6.

Though for that matter so did Park Chu Young...

What are the chances?

(Yikes video is poor quality and edited to amadeus and he's still killing it)

Would only be the 2nd oldest player in the squad, get him in

Keep the thread about actual speculation fellas. I got excited with 22 new posts but then read this shark.

Prosinecki, though, is 49...

Though I hear Gazza and Maldini are well known and popular with the fans and of a similar vintage! Set those turn styles spinning

Watcha got then? Still 2 months until the first game, yeh?

Sorry man, super bored and whenever the season starts it's always over within ten games. At the moment I'd be excited if Rudan announced he was guna lace up and play.

Seemed like that Basque stuff was genuine enough

I'm just saying don't post players from your FM game. I have Harry Kane, shall I put up his highlight reel? Waste of time is all. But you do you.

Harry Kane is a bit young- we're more likely to sign players of that quality if they are in their late 40s. But I broadly concur with what you are saying. Also this league has the longest off season ever. Just start play 4 rounds or play 27 games  but have international breaks and cup breaks. No more derails. Scouts honour.

Also, are you were you about to swear in futuristic Chinese and then say aint no power in the verse and that kind of thing cos it sounded a little fireflyesque

Liked the look of both Jordan Murray and Troy Ruthven. Both areas we need sign in and standouts in their level - only Rudan can make a call as to whether they can make the step up or not.

Ruthven is in that blockier Tim Brown 185cm mould with an eye for a pass and a few goals from corners, it's been a while since we had someone with a bit of dominating presence in the middle. Good on the turn and seems to direct play. A Kopcynski partnership with all the small fast guys running off them seems like a balance combo.

Jordan Murray is super young and seems like he's destined for a bigger club, he's taking the Papiss at lower league level and surely will only improve with better players and service around him. Seem's worth a punt.

For those who missed the earlier links:

Troy Ruthven:

Jordan Murray:

A friend took me to a NPL Victoria game last night and saw Troy Ruthven play for Altona Magic. His highlights video doesn’t do him justice, the guy is a class player. Physically strong, quick for a tall athletic guy and didn’t spray a pass all night. Had a hand in all 4 goals in a 4-0 win and screened their backline very well as a DM. Would happily have him in a Phoenix shirt, if the rumours are true that Rudan is looking at him he would be great as a back up in the midfield. The connection would surely be through the Altona coach Goran Lozanovski, pretty sure him and Rudan played together in Europe so one would assume they’ve remained in contact.

Altona also had ex Phoenix player Ben Liftin and ex Sydney player Rob Stambolziev. Both pretty much spent the game linking up through Ruthven, healthy Macedonian crowd there too with a great kebapi ?

According to my friend playing in Melbourne we've invited Troy Ruthven to trial in the upcoming weeks. Was suppose to join us on the Gold Coast but his club held him back as they were looking to seal automatic promotion to the top NPL over there past few games.

Nedum Onohua (CB) is still available on a free - experienced Championship player. Also JET too. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (Striker) would be a decent signing in the A League.

Nedum would be sick, but we already have enough depth at CB, need to use the last import slot on a DM or striker. JET has a relatively poor scoring record, but the Championship and League One are tough leagues to be a young striker, plus he played a lot on the wings. Seems like a guy who could tear it up here though, Massive guy but still looks like he has a bit of pace about him once he gets going. Looks slow and clunky with the ball at his feet, but still seems relatively effective when taking players on, I think it only appears clumsy purely because he's that huge. Some great strikes in him too

Also apparently Darren Bent has received 3 offers from A League clubs and is considering a move. Was a good player but not sure it would be wise for a club to take him on, has had plenty of weight problems recently and past managers have openly lamented his poor work ethic

JET's record for minutes (rarely played full games) is actually quite good. He's excellent on the ball, dancing feet, has a rocket of a strike, but his biggest issue is his work-rate. He's lazy as fudge. He will score you goals, but only when he feels like it. He was released from the Arsenal academy for this very reason and each succesive club after that.

I honestly would not want him near any club I support ever again.

Here's a comp from Bristol City (the Penalties are so painful) but it doesn't really illustrate the type of player he is.

great post. In that case, fudge that, doesn't seem at all a player Rudan would ever go for (as with Darren Bent). Really interested to see whether we go with a number 9 or another DM for the final import spot. We need both badly, so I'm torn.

Need a striker, we need goals.

Evald's or Dale's post (I think?) weeks back showed how few goals we scored and where we needed to be for thinking about the playoff spots.

Libby is a natural DM and could be developed there; plus TAHW could be an option when over the injury.

A decent target-man striker who can lead the line and score goals is what we need. Too many seasons we've had speedy "winger" typle players who are speedy but just not tall enough to cause a CB any trouble.

I doubt it RR. It said a top A league team.  :)

it would be nice to think we'd be paying $800k-$1mill AUD but that would be marquee level and we dont play that game. It'll be Melb City, Victory or Sydney.

100% agreed. Was arguing with someone on twitter (as you do); he said we needed another top class DM. In a perfect world we'd get both (if Krishna's citizenship is sorted), but if you have to choose - it has to be a striker. There are no kiwi or aussie options I can think of there. I can think of a handful of kiwi/internal options for DM.

My only request is: "Not a Polish Striker".

I hope Rudan will look elsewhere despite his recent addiction, as currently none would make me reach for my wallet, especially after Lewandowski's lousy yet petulant display at the WC2018.

Eugene Dadi could be our striker?

I know he's a bit old but experience is useful, if we can put him in the right spots, he'll hit it home no doubt.

Good for a bicycle kick goal every few games as well.

Ross McCormack to be released by Villa.

Would be great, but can not see him coming here - he can still pick up a big gig elsewhere. The only attraction of the A League might be the lifestyle, not sure.

Actual speculation... awesom, its being too quiet on here the last week or so.

Probably would need in the region of 5m a season for him. If someone wins Powerball tomorrow tonight, can they give Domey a call?

I had a dream last night that McCormack was brought back from Villa by Melbourne City and they loaned him out to us for the whole season, as they had better options for his position already.  I woke up drenched in cold sweat.

Not that he'd come to us, but Mark Milligan is looking for a club - Arnold said he's 'helping him find one'. Arnold has a pretty obvious connection to Rudan, maybe he'll be able to convince him?

Would be a good fit at DM and would allow us to use an import spot up top.

Would have to change his name to Milliganski

Hes an absolute cod but he's a proven winner and at a league level a very very good player. Would take a miracle to get him here and we are probably his tenth choice for a league teams, but would be fantastic if we could somehow get him on a 1 year. Genuinely no limit to where we could finish if we got him
