You're keeping Fenton but releasing Lowry and Parkhouse?

kinda on the same track, from the starting 11 thread

but you've covered the whole squad

Team will hopefully be built around Singh. Here's what I'll go with:

Velaphi

Galloway-Fox-Doyle-Cacace

Import-Ljujic

Import-Singh-Burns

Krishna

Similar approach, but going whole hog and assuming Krishna doesn't take up an import spot

Velaphi

Import Fox Import Cacace/Doyle(/Gulley)

Import Import

Krishna Singh Burns

Import

Only two home grown kiwis starting, but that's where we are right now. Let the rest of the academy kids fight their way in at a high standard.

Any international quality kiwi for any of the import spots is good for me, but I'm assuming there are none we could attract?

Not sure about keeping Ljujic (or Paracki). I felt neither did enough last year, but just maybe, with a better organised team and a more constructive environment and coach, there might be more in them. Regardless, we need better than what we got with them last year.

Might be harsh on Lowry but he hasn't even played Handy Prem for most of the season but the other pair 100% if Fenton isn't permanently broken.

I will say that was 7 weeks ago so some of it has definitely changed already, no +1, No Ridenton and no WeeMac for starters.

I just wonder how much will the club have to spend cap $ to release those players, would it be realistic to expect them to do so?

Edit: BTW, I'm totally ok if Fenton, Lowry and Parkhouse are released.

I think the bigger obstacle to them being released is the owners willingness to spend the money on releasing them. We can regain the cap space by pushing inside the cap deals into the marquee slots cuz the FFA's rules on them are really loose nowadays.

I think Parkhouse will stay; Lowry, unsure. He can't be on that much and never even looked like playing last season.

Is Justin Gulley still a right back? Would be handy..

Lowry fell out with Kalezic early on and then had a couple of injuries which killed his season. I haven't seen enough of him and he's had some ok performances and some bad ones. Hope Rudan does take a look at him at least.

Been rumoured to be signing for the Victory for awhile, guessing they are waiting to see how he recovers from his off season op before announcing it.

Would take Roux. A step up on Galloway and having being captain at CCM most have some good leadership qualities which we lack currently.

Yeah leadership is a big one for the back four if dura isnt a starter like he himself as alluded to. Would like to see a really good quality cb come in but also want to have a look at doyle and fox as a partnership. Both have a lot of passion and mongrel about them, something that Rudan clearly has too. Roux would be a great addition, and if we do sign Gulley I don't think we can afford to gamble and have him as our only starting right back in case his Handy prem form doesn't translate to the A League. Would love to see both Roux and Gulley brought in, along with a great import or aussie centre back, Tim Payne, an import dm, cover for wings and a top quality striker

Saw some chat on twitter that Roux had been spotted a couple of times during season out drinking the night before games. Grain of salt etc etc

Gulley's wiki page says he's a left back, but the chat here seems to be saying he's a right back.  Which is it - or is he comfortable at either?

My vague recollection of his games for the Nix were at LB?  Do people think he's improved significantly since then?

I'm more interested in Payne as a CB which is where he played a lot this season. Would be nice to have a CB who can actually string a couple passes together.

Matija Ljujić to Belenenses

https://www.record.pt/futebol/futebol-nacional/lig...

The Serbian Matija Ljucic is reinforcing the Belenenses and has already signed a contract valid for three seasons. The 24-year-old midfielder was appointed by Blues coach Jorge Silas to Restelo from New Zealand, where he represented Wellington Phoenix (he had 14 games in the last championship and scored two goals). In addition to having played in various clubs in the home country - FK Teleoptik, Partizan, Mladost Lucani and Rad Beograd - Ljucic also played for Lithuanian football, helping FK Zalgiris win the 2016 title (in a team where he also played the Portuguese Jorge Chula). As Record learned, Matija Ljucic is the first of three reinforcements for the new midfield that the Blues are building to attack the 2018/2019 season. On the way to Restelo are also a number 8 and still a player to occupy the position of defensive midfielder, all to avoid the embarrassments verified in the last season. The serious injuries of Tandjigora and Filipe Chaby limited the technician's options in terms of the intermediate sector, while other midfielders - cases of Yebda and Bouba Saré - also failed some games due to physical reasons. This forced Jorge Silas to have to find solutions, so the objective now is to equip the group with more options for the core

I hope it was a case of Rudan passing on him, rather than him slipping through our fingers. We've got even more wiggle room for next season now - I wouldn't be surprised if Paracki and AK also left.

Only bloke left is Paracki then, I wouldn't really mind if he stayed providing we get another import dm to help him out. He showed how good he was in the first few games, I think he just had to do too much on his one last season given our leaky defensive line. Seemed to struggle especially when playing with the master of invisibility mcglinchey. Wouldn't be too fussed if Rudan wants to start fresh though

A team that sees itself in the top half of the Liga NOS is definately a step up, and signing a 24 year old midfield for three seasons makes me feel like the Nix might have missed out on something there.

Genuinely think he had a ton of talent along with Paracki so it really sucks to see him go, we could have got a lot more out of him. Obviously going to one of the world’s top leagues can’t be too bad for him though

he’s an interesting one, didn’t get on the ball enough for me but he was physically imposing. He didn’t stand out but he maybe had some promise. Our Spanish midfielder moved to Portugal and never played a game, can’t remember his name off the top of my head

Wee Mac will end up back in Scotland and sign for an SPL team like Motherwell or Kilmarnock, TBH not that much difference than the Portuguese top flight

To be honest it is quite a difference, Tondela for example would be odds on to beat any SPL team bar the big two. Obviously both are still ahead of our league lol, was surprised that Ljujić could pick up a long contract at a big club like Belenenses when most of us weren’t impressed by him

the big 2? Celtic and Aberdeen? Beleneses aren't a big club. Portugal has 3 big clubs, Benfica, Sporting and Porto and that's it

Belenenses are pretty big in Portugal, outside of the big 3 they’ve spent the most time out of any club in the Primeira Liga and compared to us they’re huge. And by big 2 I meant Celtic and Rangers who are by far the biggest clubs lol, can’t say Rangers had the best season

It's utterly absurd to say Tondela would be odds on to beat Scotland's 2nd best team, but not Scotland's 3rd best team (based on results the season just passed and the season before). In any case, I can't see a team with Tyler Boyd regularly starting beating many Scottish teams anyway.

Not sure whether McGlinchey will make it into the SPL or not. His last efforts in Scotland he ended up down in the Championship. Would be interesting if he did make the SPL how he went.

Getting the feeling that our imports are going to make or break this side next season already. Rudan seems ready to roll the dice and not just stick with the old, which if he gets the balance of the side and the culture right could well be a good thing.
