Looks like All Whites goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic will be departing Vancouver Whitecaps after his contract option was not picked up. Not sure if his IG post was a hint at his next destination or not ...

Following on from that, Vancouver Whitecaps have also released Myer Bevan. If I were the Wellington Phoenix I'd be chasing both players. The GK situation is tricky though because Filip Kurto is good and is on a two-year contract. But he's also an import.

re marinovic, that's unfortunate timing.

Are the Phoenix Rising part of the MSL expansion?

Hear there’s a Kiwi chap in the EPL who has got a bit wooden with his goal scoring recently. What are the rules with “Guest” players - is it ten weeks or something like that? Could a bit of ‘r and r’ back home be mutually beneficial?

Getting desperate to see a real Number 9 for the Nix.

Forniroli allegedly unsettled at City. Go on Nix, Go get him. Goalscoring problem solved! Or is it only us he scores against??

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

OMG - total shambles that man.  When he was at Roma he was really active (unfortunately not on the field but in the night clubs alone)!

Are Marquees counted as imports... would he get classed as one, a tier B one?

If Eto'o couldn't get one, neither will Cole.

All visa players, regardless of whether they are marquees or not, count towards the 5 visa restriction unless they are signed on a 14 game Guest Contract which is outside that restriction.

The tiers of marquees relate to a teams ability to get funding from the Fox Sports Marquee fund, it doesn't effect anything else.

So could we sign Ashley Cole? Yes, if he would accept a 14 game contract or Krishna's citizenship was confirmed or we released a visa player.

Would we get Fox Sport Marquee funding for him? I doubt it.

What about Forniroli? Could he fit into that?.

I'd fully be behind a Fornaroli loan in January

I believe loans are only for U23 players. Would have to be a full contract release

Mitch Duke is off contract in December, there was talk about him heading to Sydney in pre-season but nothing came from it. For awhile he was playing as a RWB for his Japanese side, maybe worth a look to see if he would be an upgrade on Fenton in that role for us.

Could be great utility or Striker cover too. Remember him being very direct and bullish up front for CCM. Scored a few bullets also.

We need a central midfielder

Normo's coming home

a bit of competition for Roy wouldn't hurt. Hopefully he's got a run of form coming with Singh and Burns providing though

I'd love Fornaroli but I really can't see him joining us even if we had a visa spot free

Brattan would be a better version of Butters, and Duke would be a slightly different but still probably better version of Williams. I'd have both for sure.

I’d have a serious look at Mitch Duke. He ticks the first box, that being the guy can actually play.

A midfielder and some attacking wing backs would be at the top of my list. A top level striker would be nice but we could have Zlatan up top and he would struggle with the guys we have behind him creating the chances.

Brattan and Fornaroli won't come here, but they would make this team better.

Fornaroli or Krishna?

Who would you pick - if we can sell him and use his cisa to bring in a player like Fornaroli I would be sad to see him go, but happy with the improvement in the squad.

That been said, he can only be sold if we know we have something better - if based on hope, no!

Very likely. Owners don't want to invest in their club and Krishna is good enough for an Asian club to want to spend a couple of hundred k.

Actually definite

Second box same as the first. Both important though.

If Krishna really does want a move, we might as well sell him. He quit on us last year when he didn't get his way, so he will do the same again.

His biggest asset is the chance of getting a Kiwi passport and that doesn't seem to be happening, so he is just another visa striker and there is a world of those available to replace him with.

But there isnt a world of them that want to come here which is the problem.
