I'd suspect Paul Cunningham is more likely over Jack Pelter. That brief injury period with Sunderland kind of exaggerates his true skill.

what happened with Pelter?

wasn't he with Sunderland?

Yeah but talk of Hogg, Cunningham, Pelter and Clapham is just bollocks.

Hogg would never finish a game because he'd get tossed for his tackling. Besides, he isn't standing out for ACFC
Cunningham, if he was that good, would be in the A League already having trained with Perth
Pelter - enough said
Clapham, if you read the supporters forum, have said that Aaron is not the same player as last year. 1 season wonder perhaps?

Never really understood the fuss about Clapham - saw him play a few times and he was easily outclassed by the likes of Ferrante and Barron as a midfield player.

Add into the mix that he's now 24, and you seriously have to question what value the Phoenix would be able to get out of him.

They would have a ginger on the playing staff.
It feels to me like the perception around the forums is that he is 19 or 20 rather than 24.

Aaron Clapham is a much better player with Tom Lancaster alongside him. Have such a great understanding. I think Tom's departure is why Canterbury have struggled this year.

I always get this impression, was surprised to hear he's 24

He needs better players around him, and unfortunately he doesn't have them at Canty United this year.

I have watched most home games and he is way out in front as far as talent and skill goes most days.

MK Dons.

Wonder if he is still on our radar, he got released again a few days ago.

How is Jack Pelter going for Waitakere? If we lose North, would he be worthwhile being picked up as back up?

Could be an interesting HAL prospect imo

out of curiosity what's an average league one paypacket and an average championship paypacket?

You can only go on what games like Football Manager suggest (from what I've found) and I haven't played 2011.

Perth may not have been looking for defenders at the time, or the coaching staff at the time didn't see much in him, or he may have had an off day/week.

I think just cos someone hasn't picked up a contract with a team after training with them they shouldn't be written off. Different coaches see different things in players. Take Manny Muscat for example. He was playing in the Victorian League. Aussie teams must have been aware of him but the Nix were the only ones to see something decent in him, and look how well he plays in the A-League now.

Plus Cunningham has had additional experience since his Perth days.

Cunningham has been playing for the Lil' Nix anyway, so Ricki obviously sees something in him.

You speak some wise words there wobble.

Also he would have counted as a foreign player for Perth. Hardly likely when you have fowler, jelic, sikora etcAucklandPhoenix2011-01-19 20:24:48

kevin Phillips on his way out of Birmingham...great striker in his day

He was a brilliant goal-scorer in his day. That one season at Sunderland (99-00 I think) he was unstoppable. One of my favourite EPL non-United players of all time.

I also heard Adebayor was looking to leve city, could make a sneaky bid for him on loan? With City paying his wages? Just the type we are after too

does anyone know a website that has a database of players so we can look to see off contract euro based players?

Just curious really

This has a list of the better players in the top euro leagues that are available. Doubt we could attract these guys tho.

3 older Aussies there, Neill, Kewell, Chipperfield, I wonder if any of them will decide to come home.
