Good luck to him and hope he does great.

Tell me what reason he would have to want to go to an Asian club?

Besides that he is still a Nix player until the end of March.

Rojas would do well in Japan - anywhere else is pointless. (except perhaps South Korea)

Anyway, he wont be eligible for the ACL unless a Melbourne player picks up an injury.

I come from an era where loyalty actually meant something. The only reason I could possibly forgive him for was because of uncertainty about the future of the club. If all he does is rabbit on about how much better off he will be as a player in Melbourne, he can get f**ked, he will be dead to me [aplogies to Tony Soprano]

As usual for the Nix no sign of players coming in.  Just players leaving,  will we leave it to the last minute once again and pick over the left overs that other clubs dont want.  Its all well and good Mr Herbert to say you are going to the UK and have a look and speak with your contacts.  Havent you been doing this already,  it looks like the other A-League clubs have been doing it!!
Why dont we announce signings through out the end of season instead of waiting til the last minute and getting players like Toto etc
Pull finger Nix, 4 years and not much has changed.  First year understandable but this type of thing is no longer acceptable

100% agree
So how long is the list now of players leaving?.....Rojas, Vuk, Hearfeld, Diego, Toto, Crowther and doubts about Dmac, Ward and Daniel.

FFS thats about half the squad. Whats going on?

This has been a shiite, shiite week for everyone. We needed a little good news to cheer people up a bit. Losing Rojas has really pissed me off. I will get over it but at the moment I am mega F**ked off.

We will start next season with a solid core of about 11 reasonably good players and a whole pile of newbys. Past history leads us to believe this will be a group of the old, the discarded, the total misfit and hopefully a gem or two. Either way will once again have a heap of new players to try and bed into the club and its systems at the start of a new season.

I think a cardboard cut out of toto whould be more effective for the team environment and would be less of a burden on the salary cap.

Can't do it.  We filled up our cardboard cutout squad places with cardboard Lochies, and they're in contract until the end of the '11-'12 season.

We gave him his chance, I don't mean the Phoenix I mean us, the Yellow Fever. It's an insult to us, once again if he went to another better league no problems but to go to The Tards or any other A League team is bullsh*t. Don't condone breaking his legs - leave that to his new club - ungrateful little c**t.

Of that lot, Rojas and Vuko are the only major losses, and we knew that Danny was only in it for the short-term.  (Ward would be good to re-sign, but if he wants to go he isn't worth keeping.)

Bear in mind that NQF may fold.  The Jets have half their squad out of contract.  Adelaide had a lot of players with expiring contracts, etc, etc, etc.  Not all of the players leaving their clubs are rubbish.  Some of them will be under-rated, because they played in a system that didn't suit them.  Trialing and scouting this lot is worth some time.

FFS already moaning about players not coming in? We are one week into 6 month plus off season! This forum is stupid.

Whats so stupid.  The other clubs are signing players for next season already,  just like they do every season.  It just seems like the Nix do actually go on holiday until just before the new season.

They have already stated they have a new right back signed who will be announced soon and until Terry's cheque is signed it will be tricky.

Melbourne and Sydney have signed players due to the ACL and other than there are about 3 confirmed movements.

FFS, the season hasn't even finished yet.

HN - I love the company line you are towing.  But are you trying to say that from past experience the Nix have utilised the off season for recruitment.  The season they brought Ifill and Greenie excepted.  Other than that its, "oh we are new and just starting" or "Its WC year and didnt have opportunity to recruit" etc

I don't care about signing new players just yet but I didn't expect to lose half our f@&@ team by now. Rojas, vukovic, big mac, north, hearfield and no doubt ward will be off soon.

That is not flash

Why not?

Most of the people whining about the players going are the same whining that we're not good enough to compete.  How do you upgrade the squad and compete without making space?

Covered in a million other threads zonknz.  Better that we assume we'rwe f**ked (as many of the more defeatest on here would have us do) or hold out hope that we have a club to support next season.

Better to believe than give up hope.

agreed, Hard News. I believe the Sereposis era is all but over, but don't believe this is the end of the phoenix itself.

No, you're right we're f**ked.  Let's all give up now and dance with joy when out investors fail Terry goes and we sign no more players.

Of those D Mac and Ward  are the ones we should target given North never really wanted to be here, Vuky is already off and so now is Rojas. Ward is a good player with plkaymaker potential and D Mac is the strkier we need if we insist on going down the line and banging in crosses as Greenacre can't compete in the air in this league.

FFS player contracts for this season aren't even up till the end of March. We've got months to scout out players and by what Ricki's said, he's planned out places to look. Also, if you believe other rumours, we've already got a few players up our sleeve and are just waiting for Terry's 100mil to come through.

You must have either not read my post or mis-read it.  From previous years other than Ifill and Greenie when have we recruited well.  Other teams seem to get it done early we leave it til last minute and get.... what Pieman, Toto and what that chinese fellow called sumc&*t

Werent all of those players released from their clubs DURING the season. Its not like we went and recruited them.  They were out of work and took a job where it was available,  how many of them stayed.   0 - Exactly

Problem is tho we normally leave things that late that most of the better players have already decided where they are going.Lets face it our recent publicity cant inspire confidence in players to come here.Sorry but the confidence some of you seem to be holding up for our signingsisnt shared by me,i sure hope im proved wrong.

But that's not true.

According to that view the season we signed Dura, Siggy, McKain and Manny was terrible, last minute recruitment. Hard News2011-02-27 21:26:36

It's not rose tinted.  I'm just fed up with people re-writing history.  yes our recruitment this season wasn't great but to claim than in four years we've f**ked it up every season is complete bullsh*t.  One failure or two out of 7 or 8 recruits is an average better than many other A-League sides.

Simple facts.
Season 1.  Two months, still a competitive team, took some punts that didn't work but established the base of a good team.
Season 2. Manny, Dura, McKain, Siggy, troy, Leo added.  Any team adding that collection would be considered to have a good off-season
Season 3.  Ifill and Greenie - already acknowledged as good year.
Season 4.  This year a bit sh*t despite sining Ward, Vuka, North and Ward, all ogf whom have played for Australia at some level.

Now we've dumped a stack of players to make room.  ALready have one player on the hook 9a right back) have scouting plans across the world.  The season hasn't finished and according to our own Grey and miserables we're already dog-f**ked.

I'm not being an optimist, I'd just like to give them a chance before I condemn and one week out of 26 isn't much of a chance.

With you there HN. To write us off now is a joke and seems to me to be angst transferred

Noting that GCU will be losing 6 top players this year. Are they also doomed for not having replaced already. Its a long off season, makes me feel like hibernating if it is going to be as gloomy as some of this stuff on here

Yes there were some good signings in all those years, but if you also recall there were also hurried signings as well to fill the squad out.I love your confidence but you have to admit our recent publicity can in no way make us an attractive proposition.
Fact is it dosnt bother me all that much as i will still hand over a season pass and all going well maintain my record of not missing a home game while getting in couple of away games.

This time next year we will probably be saying Marco who the FK is that.
