The test of that level of football is possibly Caleb Rufer playing for the Phoenix 'A' side.

Yeah he doesn't seem to be getting any game time which does suck for him. Time for a mega marquee deal from us I think?


Also a shame that Griffiths deal fell through. I wonder if joel got word of his inclusion in their squad so decided he didnt need us anymore

They can if its a loan deal or if their club releases them from their contract

Mentioned a few days a go.

This may be the reason the deal has fallen through.
Or as I said earlier, he got a heads up about his Asian Cup selection so decided not to bother with us?

Yeah this is true. Was thinking maybe he'd been given a bigger indication as to his chances? Just speculation though.

Do think he could have proven something if he'd come here and scored a bucket load.

Maybe the cash involved was the biggest problem

Smeltz shouldn't give up, so hes on the bench and getting little game time. It does not mean whe wont get given a shot again.
 
Should stick out and battle... its only been a few months.
 
If he quits i think it is a very sad indictment on his character.

It doesn't excuse this week, but between December 18th and January 23rd they have a month off. Could explain why he was in Australia.

He stated that he was in talks with an A-League club, he named the club as Wellington Phoenix and that within the next two days he will know the outcome.
He also said he would be loyal to Wellington!!!!
