While I am happy the Socceroos are doing well even though they have entered a transition phase, I am somewhat disappointed that Robbie Kruse is probably now valued at a level that would be beyond us, unless he sign him as marquee whenever his Victory contract ends.

No offense to Greenie but in terms of the way the Nix play a Dmac sort of player is much more effective. If we can find a similar style of player with a higher skill level and accuracy then we will be sweet for next season.

Greenie is still quality in my books, and we need to keep him.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

May have this wrong, but didn't Kruse come over and trial for us in the off-season last year?

Also recall a few people - HN included? - having some unkind words to say about him and hoping it wouldn't work out.

Yep and we offered him Youth Marquee to come here but he turned us down.

Killen or Fallon are like the marquee version of D-Mac. Sooner we can pick up one of them the better.

Much prefer Killen. Any time I've seen him he looks far less of a donkey than Fallon does

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Killen is pretty much Fallon without the crazy personality and can use his feet.

I am just being naughty as I am bored at work today. I've always rated him as a player but I know he is not exactly the most popular one around here! Still think it is a shame he turned us down.

I stand by it.  I stand by everything I've said about him being an objectionable little Twit and exactly the sort of person I don't want at the Phoenix.  Likewise Joel Griffiths.

Burns and Muscat as well, although for different reasons.

It's a very fair point HN. One of the Phoenix's strengths is the positive vibe that seems to exist around the player base. Would be very risky to put someone in that might endanger that.

And the wrong Muscat should not be allowed to play anywhere for the forseeable future.

I'm with these guys.Sure we want talented players in key positions but Ricki will do everything he can to ensure that any new recruits will fit in with the team culture. Its a priority he's mentioned before.

A world class striker.  Good goalkeeper cover.  One deep and one skillful on-the-ball mid-field signings.  Ifill back, stronger and skillful as ever.  Rojas signed.

This is what is required.

As above re Siggy even if it is off topic. North is being used as RB for Oz and RB's where he should be on return.

No surprise there. Mind you I don't think Wilkshire's up to much either.

I remember being impressed with him 9 years ago so, you know, sign him when his contract expires with Maritomo.  Because he'll want to come to the other side of the world and all that.

The more I see of big mac, the more I think we should sign a striker of similar playing style, but a better conversion rate.

Wilkshire is a decent player most of the time - North is always the worst when he plays

Yeah get rid of our striker who is in the best goalscoring form since smeltz which is hugely contributing to our late run at the playoffs.

The reality is we are a mid table side struggling to make the play-offs - we are 24 points behind the Roar and have a GD 30 inferior to the Roar.

Like all Nix supporters, in 2011/12, I want us to be genuine title contenders.

To be genuine title contenders we are going to need a striker of Smeltz or van Dijk's calibre i.e. significantly better than Mac.

That would leave the option of retaining Mac as a bench player - I don't believe he has the characteristics of an impact player off the bench - if he is retained for that role then it begs the question; why did we extend Greenie ?

P.S. The A-League record for Smeltz is a goal every 1.6 games, Mac averages a goal every 5 games van Dijk's average is a goal every 1.8 games.

he scored a good amount of goals since he started starting.

do u prefur someone who scores goals every 6 games but look great
or a guy who is scoring every 1 or 2 goals atm, but looks like an idiot.

Maybe this guy as cover for Lia/Manny/Brown and to replace Diego in the squad? Would provide good competition to Lia especially

Has also been known to play as a right fullback/right wingervaleo2011-01-30 19:28:11
