Kiwis
Boyens $60,000
Elliot $75,000 + $4000 compensation
Gleeson $42,000 + $2000 compensation
Boxall $42,000

Im not sure how the compensation system works

But according to A-leaugue (wikipedia) A-league average wage is $106,608.... Whilst the minimum is $46,215

But as it has been said The mega bucks in MLS is the difference in class... Whilst the average a-leauge seems better than the average MLS

median would be better measure than avergage...surely that includes marquees....

NO THANKS re: Matt Thurtell.

Surely there must be one New Zealand striker more capable than this kid?

[QUOTE=MLS Player Union Website]
For example, if a player has a base salary of $50,000, has a two-year contract with two one-year options and received a $10,000 bonus when he signed, his average annual guaranteed compensation would be $52,500 (base salary plus signing bonus ($10,000), with the signing bonus divided by the number of years covered by the contract (4)). The average annual guaranteed compensation number also includes any annual marketing bonus to be received in the current year and any agent's fees annualized over the term of the contract. The average annual guaranteed compensation figure does not include performance bonuses because there is no guarantee that the player will hit those bonuses.

the downside is....although this was a 2010 quote

My favourite player is Fernando Torres, he said.  He can make scoring chances out of nothing and he has good game awareness in bringing other players into the game and in setting up and scoring goals.

What kind of gap is there between MLS and A-League calendars? Reckon we could maybe snag a kiwi or 2 or a guest contract or something similar in the MLS offseason? Maybe Gleeson as a #2 if Paston crocks himself again or Keat to prove himself to Herbert...

If we're going to get a guest player do you honestly think they'd sign a reserve goal keeper? I'd only see your theory happening as injury cover e.g Simon Elliott last season.

He is young.  He has a good scoring record for a club at a reasonable (better than NZFC) level.  And - from that video - he can welly a football, has a bit of vision and an eye for goal.  I hope the kid does well enough on trial that we sign him.

Looks pretty decent. Would have liked to see a bit more ball playing like around the 3 minute mark. Would have also liked to more evidence of pace. Not such a good sign that Brisbane are not interested in him despite losing Kosta and Solorzano. Still from that he does look like he is worth a trial.

NSWPL and VPL better, but Brisbane?
You might know better than me, but I figured it would be at a similar level to the VPL.  I did watch his old team play on a visit to Brisbane last year (although I can't remember him if he played) and they seemed better than NZFC standard to my inexpert eyes.  There was a bit more flair on show anyway.  And less kick and rush.

I don't know what people see in that video.  It is extremely ordinary.  Not particularly impressive at all.  Unless there's a whole lot they didn't manage to record then please don't sign him.

I have to say, on that video he's not showing much that the likes Lovemore, Lucas, de Vries, Cain have shown in the NZFC.

Hopefully there is more to hom than that.  We're probably a bit scared we'll miss out on the next Leckie.

You been watching too much Alan Jones Auckland City?

Two years ago half the standouts in that league were NZFC players.  General agreement among people who've watched all of them is that the VPL and NSWPL sit at the top (well below A-League) then NZFC similar to SAPL and BPL then Perth and others below that.

There is siome thought that the NZFC at the top end sits a little higher but overall it's been placed about that level.

Ryan de Vries.. that'd be 3 birds. Striker - check. u21 - check. kiwi - check.

Scoring it large in the VPL too.

But don't mind seeing Turtle trialled. If he's quality we'll find out. And if he signs give him shirt number 89

I'm all for us trialling these kind of guys. Better than signing guys without seeing them in person before hand.

He looks not too shabby as well. Although I think I'd like another senior striker in the sqaud- maybe late 20's?

I can see us signing Dani Sanchez in a few weeks if we dont have a creative midfielder signed by then.

You tell him you're not happy for him to go over, he'll get pissed off and play poorly/get a release. He doesn't pick up a gig here, he won't go back to the same team. Tell him you're happy for him to come over, if the trial turns to sh*t he'll go back and play for them.

In truth they're probably not happy because they're losing an obviously top player.

Similar to us and Lochy heading to Middlesbrough. At the time Ricki would have been annoyed at possibly having to find a new player for LB, but he has to say that it's a good opportunity etc.

If you read the article I posted a link (I think I forgot to actually link it but posted the URL) to earlier, you'll see that they're actually not that happy with him coming over at all. They are half pretending to be happy for him but they've got a playoff or something this weekend by the sounds of it and they're actually quite bitter about it.
