Funny that when I last mentioned Fallon whom I don't even particularly rate some people made a big fuss and claimed that he was doing so well in the UK that it made no sense for him to come here. The man can't even get a contract with Yeovil Town FFA. Surely the nix could be the next stop on ho's downfall???
Like someone else said 'id take him in a heartbeat given our current situation'!

Rory Fallon....please god, no no no!!!!

If we got him tactic no1, no2, no3, no 4 wouyld be wack it long and high to big Rory. We are better than that. We need to use Pantellis, Ifill and co better than feeding of scraps that big Rory would knock down.

As for Rigters....he did what every other footballer would have done.....go for more money. he will be class in the A-League.....unfortunately for us.

How about you punch two grownups in the face instead? Will that make it up to Satan?

After the Brisbane game, there was a massive circle-jerk about Rigters on here,

I remember that, and I also remember the people saying that he was fat and useless and Ricki was wasting money on someone who was a busted flush in the Euroleagues. I'm annoyed that those people didn't express satisfaciton.

Yeah, thanks, I'm weirded out enough about Junior82 "picturing" me.

Mind you, I do still get a bit sour-lemony when I think about a certain hobbit like Kiwi wunderkind....

There is still room for a bit of loyalty, especially when you've been plucked from relative obscurity, given a chance, nursed through a serious injury etc. Killen is a good player, but a dickhead. Of course, IMO.

Looks on the cards.

From the West Australian on August 30:

"Glory coach Ian Ferguson is now looking for a defensive alternative, although he is also likely to hand a contract to big striker Billy Mehmet."

And on September 3:

"Mehmet, who arrived on a trial this week, showed some promising signs and is expected to secure a deal for the new A-League season, which kicks off for Glory at home to Adelaide United on October 9."

Bummer.

Have been away on holiday for a week. Can anyone let me know if we have signed anyone since the goalkeeper and if anyone is trialing?

You missed heaps.

The $100 mill came through. Killen is breaking his contract in the CSL and coming back. Talks with Ryan Nelsen as he is facing stiff competition from a young signing at Rovers. We may also be getting Kyle Naughton from Spurs as he says he actually doesn't like being on loan to Norwich very much.

No one has signed, Bran, Sanchez and Thurtell still on trial, as far as I'm aware. We're doomed!

Yeah agree with this although there are hurdles to overcome such as players actually wanting to pick up everything and come here. Fagan has been mentioned before as well as the likes of ex-Portsmouth and Sheffield Utd striker Danny Webber. Someone give Ricki a copy of FM so he can scout out some free agents.

Should trial Paul Wheeler - the midfielder who played for Naenae couple of years ago. Has just signed for a club in Conference North. Wouldn't take him much convincing to come over I reckon and could probably pick him up for cheap. Easily as good as Clapham,  would love to see how good he could be in a professional environment. Tony P PM me for details haha, although I am a tad biased.

Ricki Herbert via Stuff wrote:
"Just a decent signing at the top now would be perfect for us," he said. "I don't think that area's a concern time-wise, and we'll just keep working with what we've got and the communication with the people that we're having."

First impression I got from this is that he wont mind starting the season without the striker we need.
Will either continue negotitions, or even wait for Killen to be ready to come here?

No disrespect to Wheeler, who was an excellent Capital 1 player, but really?

Just by way of context, remember when Jeremy Brockie played in the Central League and absolutely took the p1ss?  Wheeler wasn't close to that sort of good, even two leages lower.

As for Fagan, I'm sure we can't afford him.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

This is true. Except there are plenty of players out there who will take a pay cut to play professional football again. What else is he going to do? The European transfer window is closed

If he's out of contract the transfer window is irrelevant, he can sign anytime.

Some hints from Ricki about what he is looking for...

"Just a decent signing at the top now would be perfect for us," he said. "I don't think that area's a concern time-wise, and we'll just keep working with what we've got and the communication with the people that we're having."

Herbert said he would probably make a decision on whether to sign young Australian centre back Bryan Bran early next week, while the remaining youth spot was likely to be filled by a midfielder.

By the sounds of it he wants another senior striker, so that's probably no to Thurtel. Seems undecided on Bran. I think we really need reliable cover at center back. Doesn't need to be a starter but needs to be reliable and able to cover other positions would be a bonus. Haven't seen Bran but Ricki doesn't sound completely sure about him. Someone like Michael Fitzgerald would be a good fit.

A midfielder? So Cory Chettleburgh's out of luck?

Would say that is good news for Chettleburgh - he seems the midfielder Ricki has been trialling the most and giving time in pre-season matches to...

I would think if Ricki thinks he's good enough he will get a contract.

Think chettleburgh and Bran both need to be signed now. Wonder why the journalist didn't ask about Rory?
