On another note, where can one find all those awesome "We go again" pictures of the team that are doing the rounds? I need a new screen saver!

Only in his mind and possibly a few plastic fans. Even real Chelski fans know that over the season, Liverpool have really stepped up a level.

I've refrained from posting about the doco but , what the hell.

It is accurate but only to a degree.I don't think any program could accurately portray the absolute horror and fear that was present that day. This didn't , but certainly was close. Interestingly , the police have always been portrayed as arseholes. That's only partly true , IMO. Those that were there on the day were shell shocked and had no idea what to do. I guess nothing in their training had prepared them for what transpired. One they got over the initial disbelief , some of them were actually fantastic. However , the seniors both at the ground and further afield are an absolute disgrace. Duckenfield , Bettinson are loathsome human beings .I rank them alongside Kelvin Mackenzie as sharks of the highest order, For those who sneer at the campaign for justice , I hope you never ever have to go through anything like that.

Never Ever Forget.

On an other note , Mourinho is a cock.

Oh , see you fellas tonight!!

I knew very little prior to the doco - so although I probably come across as a little naive, I can also provide an un-biased fresh pair of eyes on that one programme in particular.

What you have said in your post about the police on the ground, and at senior levels, is 100% exactly what the documentary portrayed in my opinion, so your post really just re-enforces that for me - I never for any second got the idea that all police were arseholes.

And who sneered at the campaign for justice? Certainly nobody on this forum.

It feels like some past resentment is coming through in your post which has very little to do with that documentary or the opinions posted on here.

Anyhow, don't mean to rark you up at all but just posting me thoughts. Good luck for tonight, I'll be watching and hoping Jose gets that ugly whinging look on his mug.

Important info for any Reds coming the The Pub in Wellington tonight:

Few housekeeping things for tonight:
- doors open at 11pm, kick off is at 1:05am.
- capacity is a shade over 140 people (we had 135 last week) so the closer you leave your arrival to kickoff, the higher the risk of missing out
- due to capacity restrictions this is an LFC fans only event (parents/legal guardians excluded!) so please don't expect that any Chelsea supporting brothers/sisters/friends will automatically be allowed entry. We, and the bar, don't want any of our loyal supporters to miss out.
- we need to be out of The Pub by 3am. It is down to licensing laws, not the bars staff wanting to get home for a sleep. Please respect this, and don't be offended if you are asked to leave.
- we'll be taking some video of the night, the Liverpool Echo has asked us to send footage through for a video montage, so don't forget your loud voices
- we're gonna win the league

Where did I say anyone here sneered ? But there is still an undercurrent in the UK that believes the official police reports and is also of the view that LFC should let it go.
Fudge , I was in a good mood until I read this.

You said "for those who sneer at the campaign for justice, I hope you never ever have to go through anything like that"

That implies to me that you were speaking to people posting or reading this forum - I'm sure you can understand how it would be interpreted that way given your wording. No matter, I understand you now, and I take back my comment.

As I said I didn't mean to rark you up, just thought that your comments seemed to be directed at others who don't read/post here, which you have now confirmed.

If that undercurrent remains in the UK then that is very disappointing and I can fully understand your resentment. I am in complete agreement with you after what I saw in that programme.

Anyhow, sorry to ruin your mood, I hope you understand where I was coming from now.

Well bugger! Casino was alright. I think I sat in front of the only Chelsea fan in the place. Also there were two bars showing it so the numbers were split a bit. I hate mourinho and his bullshark way of doing things. Dickhead

Wondered if you'd pop in , Arse.

Anyhoo , thanks again Kopgoff for setting that up .Jr and I  , despite result , had a great time.Highlight of the night- YNWA at the start. Brilliant.

Several things

1.Mourinho is a cod

2 Mourinho is a cod

3.Mourinho is a cod

But his tactics were clear and laid out from the start. But I was wrong , I thought he'd park the bus. He parked 2. Ivanovic was immense and the accurate passing /movement that was so obvious for 99% of the season was out just a tad. Coutinho had an average game by his standards and the tactics in the second half of lumping crosses in when there was no one in the area…Add in a couple of great saves from SChwarzer ( esp from Luis' volley).

Atkinson makes a big show of pointing to his watch to emphasis that he's aware of the blatant time wasting but did fudge all else about it until the 92nd minute. And it is , IMO , especially ironic that Gerro's slip came in time added on in the first half ; time which wouldn't have been played if Chelsea hadn't played like a bunch of cynical dickheads. Fair play to them though ; they got given a brief and did it well. But shark , it's an ugly way to play. Makes for a hard watch but I'd be very surprised if anyone here is overly surprised at how Chelski played.

I find myself wondering if the players themselves get fudgeed off playing bullshark defensive crap like that? I suppose they won and thats all good, but they sure didn't seem too euphoric after the game. Smiles and all, yes, but not terribly excited about being back in the race.

It’s out of our hands now

The Acceptance

·  This was one of the few years that most Liverpool fans for once kept their gobs shut and didn’t claim ‘our year’…so we’re then teased with it and it’s then taken away. Ouch.

·  Fair play to Chelski in that they came with a plan and executed it perfectly. One team came to play football, the other to stop if from happening and the latter succeeded. Shows that while Rodgers has massively improved and should possibly be manager of the season, The ‘Special’ One is still the master of mind games

·  We need City to drop points now and win both games. If both Pool and Citeh win their remaining games, we will come second on goal difference to the new champions. That will sting more than missing out by 3-6 points. Need Everton to do us a HUGE favour.

·  If we don't win the title, I'm glad it will be MCFC. As Pellegrini said, it'd be sad for football if teams playing like Chelsea won it. It might be effective, but it's not attractive or enjoyable to watch. MCFC, for all their faults and splashing the cash, play the game the right way.

The Whinge

·  The way Chelski played that game was awful, especially from a manager who had taken West Ham to task over their defensive, boring football and went off at a Crystal Palace ballboy for time wasting.

·  On the time wasting, Chelski were at it from the first minute. Every opportunity to slow the play down was taken – laces, changes of kick taker/thrower, players refusing to leave the field for treatment. For all that time wasting, especially the keeper, the ref showed one yellow card…in the 92nd minute

·  Liverpool need a plan B! They have gotten by with plan A working every week – score early, score lots and hope to concede less. Today they needed a plan ‘B’ that either included 1) sit back the same as CFC and take the draw (enough to stay in front of Citeh) or 2)  a big, tall target man and start bombing in the long balls. Unfortunately, the latter plan needs the purchase of a big forward, not necessarily a top player, but rather a bench player with a bigger prescience in the box (no, not Carroll!!).

·  For anyone who says we got beaten by a weak side, the worth of their ‘B’ size is estimated anywhere between $5m less to $12m more than our starting XI. Not sure I’d consider a team containing Ba, Lampard, Mikel, Cole, Matic a B side. Mind games that worked for 'The Smug One' right there.

They are not really in the race though...you can still get 16/1 on Chelsea to win the league.

In agreement with Leighbo there. When Liverpool challenged all year in 2008/9 I was sick to death of hearing about it from a lot of self-entitled pool fans. A lot has changed since then - an absolutely terrible patch seemed to put things in perspective. So much so that I've really been rooting for these guys this time round, it's been a breath of fresh air following this thread and really wanting you guys to get it done. I was disgusted with that result last night. Now hoping Everton or someone else can do you guys a favour.

After reading some of the comments on here I decided to watch the game myself.

The first thing that struck me was that Chelsea would hardly have come to park the bus- a draw was no good for them as they were 5 points behind at the start of the game.    Liverpool should have been 2 up after 15 mins.

Over the 90 mins Liverpool were by far the better side and played some excellent football. However, to bag Chelsea is a joke. You made two mistakes and got punished, but you also missed a lots of chances with poor crossing, shooting, passing etc Have no idea ( or do I care) what the stats were but possession, shots on goal, corners etc. would have been heavily in your favour.

On another day you could have scored 3/4 but it was not to be. Chelsea had a plan, time wasting etc, but any team that has as least possession as they did will always try to get as many player behind the ball as possible. That is the way the game is played.

All you needed was a point, so maybe you should have parked the bus. With the remaining games I would still fancy your chances.

I really don't care which of the 3 teams does win but it is going to be a couple of exciting weeks.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Actually Leggy , the stats on shot on target ( at half time anyway , heavily favoured Chelsea). My issue with Chelsea was the cynical approach to time wasting that they use through the whole game , and the utter unwillingness of the ref to do anythng concrete about it. Mourinho's approach was always going to be park a fleet of buses and hope for a break away goal. It's not a football style I admire or like watching , but it works when done right.Benitex used that approach in Europe with us occasionally as well.I stated above that Ivanovic was immense ( not just him though)- I stand by that. Intricate passling moves are great when the defence lets itself get cut apart- Chelsea were very very strong in that regard.  Added to the fact that the some of our bigger name players had their poorest games in a while.

We didn't have any options on the bench either. I've popped into the Chelsea thread for some LOL's.Whoever said that Chelsea has a weaker squad- WTF? They brought on Willan and Cahill- we got a half fit Sturridge and Aspas.Sturridge did fudge all and Aspas , in the words of Jazz Jr at full time  , "he's really really crap , Dad"   . Our top X1 is a match for any team in the PL. Depth though remains an issue.

Mourinho remains a cod. But he's very good at what he does.

I think City and Chelsea by season's end would have at least played 14 more games (each) this season than Liverpool. Will be interesting to see how adept Liverpool's squad is at challenging on multiple fronts.

I think their buying power will go up with CL qualification + BR is supposedly getting a 60m pound war chest with the qualification.

there are a lot of 'Pool players on loan as well and those who may have been sold, who are out on loan, seems to performed very, very well and will come into the mix now we need more depth (Borini, Wisdom, Suso, Coady, Ilori etc). Also expect to see more of Texiera and Jordan Ibe

Liverpool are in a lot stronger place now with CL qualification meaning that Saurez will stay defiantly as well. Maybe go steal some of the players united are trying to sign to puss them off? Think you guys need a better defense to start though

Definitely, our defence is remarkably leaky for one sitting in the top 3, just lucky for the sheer amount of goals scored this season.

Johnson is week with his defending & decision making and gets shown up by Flannagan on the other side on how to play as a wing back.

Everytime Sakho has the ball I'm waiting for him to telegraph his pass to the opposition. I'd be keeping Skrtel, he's been immense after being close to being sold and I'd give Agger another year but someone dominant needs to come in.

"...sure beats doin' stuff."

agree re Flanno- he's had a great year. I'd keep Agger too but if he's getting a bit injury prone? I'd quite fancy Luke Shaw to LB, shift Flanno to RB or hope Kelly comes good. Can't see us getting shaw though. WE'll keep Sakho but he isn't a ball playing CB like Agger.

I'm not completely convinced Suarez will stay , either.

what made it even funnier was that it was about the 90th minute, and still 0-1.

It was one of those moments when I was watching it, I thought I had had a mini-stroke or something. See Aspas hit the corner, slip into a coma for a few seconds and then come to at a different stage of the game where a Chelsea player is passing to another Chelsea player on the edge of their own box.

LFC v NEWCASTLE game info for Wellington Reds

Hey all, as most of you are aware, licensing laws introduced in Dec now prevent bars from being open at all hours.
The Pub, that we have been using for our catch ups in Wellington must be closed between 3am - 6am, they applied to the council for a license to open for the Newcastle game, but were denied.
They have confirmed they have a venue for us, we are just working out logistics, but it IS ALL GO.
They believe they can accommodate about 200 people, so about 50-60 more than The Pub.
Any questions let me know. Info will be posted here (for guys like Groff and Jazzman :) ) and on the LFC Wellington Facebook page

Heres the Palace info mate, Tuesday morning:
Come and join us for breakfast at The Pub to watch LFC take on Crystal Palace.Doors will be open, and breakfast served, from 6am. Game kicks off at 7am.
(No booze can be served until 8am).

Win this and we head into the last day of the season knowing we can still win the league, in fact, by kickoff we'll know if our Merseyside neighbours have done us a favour versus Man City!

Please note, the venue is R18, no matter the time of day, so if you are underage you will still need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Given this is during work hours we aren't expecting a full house, but as per previous games, please confirm if you will be there by 'joining' the event.

Stay positive fellow Reds, we're still top of the league and all the pressure is now on City.
Have a great week, see you Tuesday morning.
