Useless cods. Had a multi to return $165. All that failed was Liverpool to win. Shove it.
$10 lesson learned there, mate!
The takeover or rather, "investment" rumors are back and this time, in overdrive!
The group in question is China Everbright and they are willing to pay FSG 800m for a club they purchased for about 300m (from memory). Of course, FSG have sunk more than that into the club but would still see a significant return on investment. However, it at first appears that FSG do not want to sell up and China Everbright are willing to get involved as a minority shareholder with a view to taking over the club in the distant future.
China Everbright is state sponsored so has almost unlimited wealth. While their current total assets sit at about 7.0B, they will also be in partnership with China Investment Corporation that has over 813B in assets and last year alone, reported 74B of net income! To put that in context, Man City's owners are worth about 20B.

Bein Sports 2 just had a doco on Liverpool from the 75-84. Fudge it was good. Great interviews, especially in my view, Souness and Thompson. At the end Souness summed that time up quite well. Trophies aside he would love to play in that team again with those same guys, reall team spirit.
4 points from 3 games and the moaners are out already. Pre-season if we were offered 4 points from away games vs Spurs and Arsenal, we would have taken it but the blip at Burnley has made the situation seem worse than it actually is.
Sure, there are still a few concerns - LB, CDM and getting Karius fit an in goal ASAP but it's not all doom and gloom.
There's a lot of water to go under the bridge yet and Klopp still hasn't been in the hot seat for 12 months.
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
There were so many BR projects in the team, players he purchased and then left to rot on the bench or back at Melwood. The cleanout had to happen and this is a carbon cop of what Klopp did in his first full year at BVB. Clean out the deadwood and build something that is his. I suggest that we will do quite a bit of business in January. The concern at the moment for me is what happens when Mane goes off to African Cup?

How many went out on loan though and you guys are still paying for?
12 players transferred out, 9 players released, 12 players out on loan - impossible to say the value though as the club taking the loan can pay anywhere between 100% to 0% of the wages depending on the deal.
Taking the loans out of it, we spend 61.9m and made 77.8m so not too bad. Loans aren't always to find a temporary home for unwatned players, at least 8 of our 12 loans will be to get game time for players who potentially have a future with us and who we'd be paying a wage to regardless.

Big game this weekend vs the champions and in-front of the new stand (which is magnificent!)
What's your line-up? I think Can is injured and Karius is now available but not sure we'll see him in action just yet.
Mingolet
Clyne Matip Lovren Milner
Hendo Wijnaldum
Mane Lallana Coutinho
Firmino (although I'd prefer Studge in there)
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
That mistake by Lucas tho??
Yup, bad mistake BUT overall I actually thought he played very well. I was also impressed by Milner, Hendo, Firmino and Studge as well and Mane is looking like a snip at 32m

Anyone got a link to highlights of your game?
Last season I used to watch those little highlight clips PLP would post, but with no website this season I'm not getting that service from BeIN.
They do have some review shows they put together pretty quickly, but not much help with no on-demand, and me forgetting to record them, also doesn't help me when I'm at work ;)

A big mistake by the ref, not Lucas.
Goal should never have been allowed as player was in the goal box before the ball left it from the goal kick.

I'm an LFC fan, I love a good excuse but even I'm struggling with this one...

You can ascertain what your opponent is afraid of by observing the means by which he attempts to frighten you

A ref will not pick that up (maybe rarely). It's similar to players who never take the throw from where it goes out...Mingolet made a poor choice, Lucas panicked and Vardy would have made it to that ball regardless of where he was.

How do we think we will line-up vs Chelsea? We could see a Prem debut for Karius and Lucas to start at CB if Lovren's eye hasn't recovered.
Karius
Clyne Matip Lovern Milner
Henderson
Wijnaldum
Mane Lallana Firmino
Sturridge

Interesting discussion.
What is the rule? Are the opposition not allowed in the box until the ball has left the area, or until the ball is touched?
If it's until the ball has left the area, then this could be a good point. Any freeze-frame footage when the ball is right about to cross the line and get to Lucas' feet? Is Vardy in the box at that point?

Discussed in Awwww Ref thread, players aren't allowed in the box until the ball has left the area. https://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/regional-f...

The freeze frame is misleading as Vardy doesn't go into the box, it's another player who crosses it to close down Lucas and then forces the "assist"
