Joel campbell now has a visa to play in england.....there is no way he will be in first team squad so i wonder who he will go on loan to

I would love to see Ryo get some match time with us. You can normally rely on at least one of our midfielders, defenders, and forwards out injured so as a squad player he should get some game time this season.

agreed mate, he was excellent when on loan to bolton. His injuries last season didnt help the cause. Wonder if Gnaby will go out on loan....i remember him getting a few games for a us last season

Ryo's injuries have set him back, wouldn't be surprised if Gnabry has moved ahead of him in the pecking order now

Gnabry is almost certainly ahead of him. Can't see Ryo making it at Arsenal - Joel Campbell too.

Were Rambo & Jack our last lot of super exciting prospects that made it? I feel like the wheels have fallen off for Ryo, Campbell, Vela, Bendtner etc, like they were promising but never quite made it yet. It would be awesome if we could have another player have another breakthrough season.

I'm excluding Theo and Ox from this list as they're not from the academy.

Rambo wasnt from the academy either......zealem looks exciting, he's only 16 but is on the pre season tour. a bit early to say the wheels have fallen off for campbell wouldnt you say

Surprised you have ex Cardiff City player Ramsey as a academy player, in that regard so are Theo and Ox.

There was as a lot of hype around a lot of Arsenal players a few years back. Remember Arsenal fans telling me how much better Lupoli is than Rossi.

Whats up with the Cazorla to Athletico Madrid rumour

Permalink Permalink
over 12 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History

Bullion - apologies on the Rambo front, missed that one! Wilshire was probably our most successful academy product in recent times then no?

Skinny B - I am terrified by this. I would only consider this to be acceptable if that money was going to fund Cesc. However I'd rather have both at the club.

Not happening, Atletico already came out and said it's b*llocks. Marca reported that - they're pretty much Real's mouthpiece so no doubt it's sour grapes around whatever is going down on the higuain/suarez front. That the rumour involves Real's local rival is telling - completely made up.

Way way way too early to write off Ryo and Campbell, that's ridiculous talk. Not sure about Campbell, would've liked more development during his two seasons in Spain, but Ryo for sure hasn't even started yet, he's been injured the majority of the time and is still a teenager.

7-1 over Vietnam last night. Check out the highlights on arsenal.com, better goals than the first game even. Ox's one is an absolute cracker, and Giroud looks lethal right now. Certainly up for a challenge with whatever new striker we might buy.

Yes Frimpong is still on the books. He's in London still recovering from his last knee injury. Unfortunately I think the gig is up for him if we buy a holding midfielder, as is rumoured. Just too many false starts with his dodgy knees.

Lupoli/Rossi - both sh*t.

Rossi is not shark, 82 goals in 192 appearance for Villareal as well as 27 caps for Italy. It's a shame that he has been out injured for the past 18 months.

He won't get another italian cap. I'll put NUFC's balls on that.

In fact he'd do well to find himself a club - he's only made one appearance for Fiorentina and they just signed Mario Gomez.

I'll take him at the Phoenix, he's not that sh*t :)

Zelaleem was amazing, his through ball to the Ox to square for Akpom's 2nd was unreal, Cesc comparisons are justified.

Giroud was legendary, taking the piss with the confidence in his finishing. Podolski on the otherhand was unlucky, hit the woodwork, and square for Giroud who didn't read it when he should have buried it.

I think Sagna started CB in that first half, and Miguel played 2nd half at Left Back which is encouraging to see the diversity being trialled.

Big fan of Sagna at CB. Real option for us this season and we'll probably need him with Vermaelen out for 2 months "at least" and only Miquel as 3rd choice at this stage. I'd be happy with Sagna getting more time there, as proper 3rd or 4th choice CB. Although we'd have a soft underbelly should Sagna or Jenkinson go down in that situation. Bellerin looks very good but still rather young.

In saying all that, still no word on Sagna's contract - I wonder if we'll just let him wind down the last year and leave on a free next year? Would be a nice gesture for his service - he'll grab great wages somewhere if he's released on a free and we wouldn't be losing much financially, fees aren't high for a RB in his 30s, even if he is the business. Plus by then you'd hope Jenky would be ready to be no.1 and Bellerin would have another year's experience under his belt.

Zelalem highlights;

I'm reading it's a permanent deal, 2 year contract, and he's off our books for good...

Which would only leave Bendtner, Park and Chamakh in the 'dead wood' camp?

Just saw the Daily Mail on it, great result.

Is it too ruthless to put Diaby in that boat? I won't ever argue his talent, he was a beast at the start of last season, but we have this all too familiar injury story. RvP, Rosicky, and even Cesc have had terrible track records for injuries. Pushing through with Rosicky has paid dividends, but there comes a point where you have to cut your losses. Are where there yet? I.e. are we better suited investing in a replacement for someone of his quality with less injury niggles, i.e. Fellaini?

EDIT - just to clarify I'm suggesting Diaby is in the 'dead wood' camp due to injuries not his ability, the other 3 are there because they're rubish!

Hard to come to grips with the fact we could have a bitey racist in the squad next season

All of this is covering the fact that we need re-inforcement at CB and probably CM too.

I can't see the point in spending 40m on Suarez when he will miss a fair few games at the start of the season. He brings baggage, is likely to do something crazy again and get another big ban and if we go to sell him, we are bound to lose money. Not sure he would be a team player as well. At Liverpool, he is the main man and expects the team to revolve around him. We could get Higuain for less money, he is younger and has just as good a scoring record. Plus he doesn't bring any controversy with him and is more likely to fit into the Arsenal dressing room culture.

Agree with you - although I dont give a toss about anyone's potential sell-on value, that's the last thing we should have on our minds given our recent history...

Arseblog has been making a very similar argument around suarez/rooney vs higuain, rather well too. He really is very good, cant speak highly enough of his blogs. (tip of the hat once again to goof666 for convincing me to start reading it)

Jovetic signed by MCFC

now if Liverpool and RealFranco come to an agreement , we get neither Hig or Sua

Santos and Gerv both sold apparently

the relief in gettign both them sold is tempered somewhat by considering why they were bought in the first place.

Gervinho's a weird one, felt like he never got off to a proper start - two seasons both interrupted quite massively by consecutive ACN's

That, and the fact that he continued to f*ck up tap ins, and despite having the biggest cranium on a footballer being useless at scoring headers. Better to invest game time in Podolski/Walcott/Cazorla/Ox playing out wide.
On the transfer front:
1) Apparently Suarez is handing in a transfer request to force the Arsenal move
2) Higuains 35m transfer value has put Napoli off and we're back in for him
3) United are making another big play for Cesc, surely we'd snap him up. My personal thoughts are snap him up to prevent him from being with another EPL power house. It just wouldn't be right, and would sting like RvP did.

Despite the URL Ancelotti says he isn't moving to Napoli and nothing is agreed. He seems keen to keep him.

And it looks like Kos and Szy have picked up injuries, and likely to miss tonights clash.
