Ouch...bit harsh to tar Krishna with the same brush as toto and george? :)

Look, you can call Roy Krishna not up to A-League standard all you like (I'm not convinced myself), but describing him in the same bracket as George and Toto is just not on. He's already scored more goals than both of them put together.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Krishna can do this season. Thought he did well last season.

I just hope that we aren't relying on signing him and then have the FFA or PFA rule in the Mariners failure. The longer it stretches out the worse it is for both teams.

Yeah, I'm not too keen on signing him on some technicality. Need FFA approval if there is anything like that going on or it will come back to bite us.

Can we leave talk of biting to other threads?

Could it just be termination of the loan though? Detoxin speaks Japanese, right? Can he read the original Japanese source and give us a better idea of what it says than Google translate?

You want the Phoenic to come out and say the FFA are twiddling their thumbs?

Because the interwebs declared it, it must be true...

This is a bit of a problem for the FFA because if you have a deal you don't like, you just sell the club up to a 'new entity' and don't offer that player a contract. That's exactly what would be set with this kind of precedent. Based on that, I don't see how FFA can allow the Phoenix to sign McGlinchey.

Was his contract expected to end at the end of last season or the end of the loan period.

If you look at the etymology of the word Phoenic/phoinix  we should really play in a royal purple strip and our mascot should be a giant sea snail from whence the dye is harvested.

Can someone approach Gareth Morgan about this?

His loan at the J-League club has been cancelled. It is unclear if he is still a CCM player tho, as it does sound like there is a contract dispute (probably relating to their ownership restructure & not signing a new deal with the new ownership vehicle).

What article? the one about his contract termination?   all it talks about is Sendai and how he loved the supporters and how its a really sad day in his career to be leaving. hoping they will carry on and win.... e.t.c

yep it was the article i thought it was and says nothing about going back to CCM

And that's why I think the FFA can't really allow McGlinchey to come here.

"Oh you signed Harry Kewell to a dumb contract? Just sell the club to a mate and not offer him a new one. Problem solved" I also think in this case, CCM want him so its not like this was a move of that manner to get out from under a bad contract, just an oversight.

Whats the bet that CCM are allowed to sign McGlinchey to the same amount of money the Phoenix offered him (and I bet its greater than what he was on and what CCM can afford under the cap) to make this problem go away.

Yep but if he no longer wants to be there, and they have already planned to not have him why not just release him? It's unlikely they are going to be able to sell him in the final year of his contract.

It's a shame we couldn't have done a deal with Sendai and secured a loan from them.

It depends on how the obligation is written.  I.e. it is possible that new owners are obliged to honour player contracts, but players get the option.

Yeah you would think that termination and resigning would have to be mutual because CCM instigated it.

Unfortunately if the FFA is the judge in this situation then the decision might not necessarily follow the wording of the contract but the spirit of what happened.

How is some guy running some random website in a random country going to know more than the Phoenix or anyone else associated with football in NZ about the status of Michael McGlinchey. He has found a story and latched onto it.

Is S. Kim's nickname "Milk"?

Unless I'm blind, WeeMac ain't on there, which makes me think that CCM may be unsure of their victory on this.
