In a season that has had more away wins than any other, it's hardly surprising that the away (or nominal away) team have won 4 of the 5 @aleaguemen finals matches thus far.#AKLvMVC#ALeague
Well, that was a goal imo. Not sure how they could be certain the whole of the ball was out. We definitely didn’t see footage that confirmed it.
Welcome to the A League Auckland! No refunds.
Because the assistant flagged that the ball went out on the cross.
There’s no way to confirm or deny that so play on.
Not hard to understand.
Lol. Once the call’s made for sure.
You’d think they’d take a bit of care given the situation. Yeh, turns out I’d prefer Auckland over this Victory team, especially if it was a Rogerson goal.
But shocking defending for that second goal. And the ‘luck’ gone. The goal disallowed. Arzani not sent for a second yellow. Pijnaker unable to bundle the ball in. Moreno hitting both posts and the side netting. No Mata available, like the first bit of the season.
he has every right to be salty about that. I would be the same. Would have wanted to at least see a more comprehensive var lool at it as an afc fan. Personally think it was a legit goal. But so happy that it was disallowednufc_nz
Corica pissing his pants on the post match interview. Saying they’ve been robbed by var.
Wish I had a clip of him as Sydney coach? Captain? whining about fouling and getting called out by Griff’s big brother Joel. ‘But all the fouls were coming from Sydney FC’
It’s a pity because Toomey aside, I respect his team. And Toomey’s a very redeemable kid.
Still it’s nice to watch the A league work its BS and not feel it cut deep!

How can it be a legit goal? The assistant called the ball was out of play. There’s only one replay where it looks like that’s the case. You can’t overturn that on field decision.
If there one thing you should give credit to, it’s the assistant ref looking right down the line over the crossbar, where he deemed the ball went out before coming back in.
"It will be hosted in Wellington. My balls my word"
Ok if the assistant ref got a good look right down the line then maybe I am wrong. But from the angles I saw i would have said it stayed in. Regardless if that had happened to the Nix in those circumstances I'd have liked to see a definitive angle to prove it was out
If they don't have a definitive angle to prove it's out then you have to stick with the onfield call. If they can't review the goal properly then it's none of the refs faults, that's the fault of whoever pays for/sets up the goal line tech at Mt Smart.
To my eye I can definitively say I cannot tell if the ball stayed in or out based on the angles shown to us. Play on, nothing to see here.
Gillion just played his last game for AFC after fluffing his chance that bad. Corica wont stand for it
THought he'd been alright since coming on...but that was crap.
Yipe he'd looked alright until that moment. Only he will know why he took the extra touch. It just all looked really bad given the game situation. Corica livid on the sideline.
I'm disappointed they lost, because an ALM Final in NZ, would be a big moment for the sport in Aotearoa. Not meant to be. VUC are that hard nosed unlikeable finals team.
Be interersting to see how Auckland's crowds go with 2nd season syndrome, and the script not going to plan tonight.
This week Piney was saying it would be a night unlike anything NZ has seen: “I just think it will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. I can’t think of a comparison, really,”
Turns out a pretty easy comparison would have been to look at the A-League Semi Final 2nd leg played in NZ last season, where Melbourne Victory beat a New Zealand team to book a place in the Grand Final - because tonight there was an A-League Semi Final 2nd leg played in NZ, and Melbourne Victory beat a New Zealand team to book a place in the Grand Final.
Kar-chunk !!! The sound of Aucklanders jumping off the band wagon.
Would have preferred they lost the grand final. Just thinking of all those Aussies choking on their XXXX beers at the thought of having to play the A League show piece final in NZ.
AFC weren’t good enough. 63% pass accuracy after 70 mins is not going to win you a semi. Corica got out coached. Victory came out pushing lots of players forward, over loading certain zones. Players interchanging. They then gave a master class on protecting a lead. Aucklands midfield struggled to impose themselves most of the match. Probably way too conservative to play to protect your 1-0 advantage, especially at home.

And the Phoenix lost in Extra Time. And we had over 29k at the Game. I like Piney's passion for football in general but it was like listening to Spoonley dribble over AFC last night.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
