Does anyone know if Jean-Paul de Marigny has his Pro-licence? If not I assume he's considered an Australian citizen?
He's lived in Oz since he was 15 and has even played 7 times for the National Team so pretty sure he's an Australian

The pro licence is no guarantee of anything, so it makes me wonder why

League credibility but then the FFA are such fudgewits that it's hilarious they think coaching qualifications are important while they make themselves and the league such a laughing stock so often.
Yeah, most jobs say "Must have such and such qualification or equivalent experience."

Gombau available.
With a proper pre-season he could do a job.
I do think he's a bit of a fraud, though.
A fan is a fan.
Gombau available.
Apart from the rumours that his backstory is a bit shady,
Ooh, is he linked with the underworld and he knows people and they tell him things?
I rate Gombau, I think he could bring good players to us and he plays an attractive brand of football. Only problem is it can take a while to see success in a JG system, and we need to be strong from the get go next season
From the host of the RBB podcast

Apparently the nix are in negotiations for a two year deal with him.
So perhaps the other guy was Popa who was waiting to see if Wanderers job was available perhaps? We shouldn't be waiting any longer - are we simply waiting to get the best guy ( in which case the other gentleman will know he is 2nd best - not a great start). Another expense of waiting is player uncertainty. Victory won't stand in JPDM way according to Press Report 3 days ago. I don't think we should start looking for a third man.

If this is true, why would we want to hire him? Sounds like an overbearing bully boy. Surely we can do better!

That said, stranger things have happened.

He will clear out the playing roster and create his own team... would be an amazing pick up...
Socceroo/ Mariner / Whangarei
so we go from one bully to another- it could be a frying pan to fire situation.
Richard Parkin is tweeting it, although he's no longer with the Nix.

You've just invented a link that has never been made and assumed an article containing information linked by an agent is accurate. I think there is a chance JPDM is on the shortlist, I don't think there is a chance Popovic was. It is also just as likely that the two man shortlist contains neither of those two options and the Phoenix are still working through this.
Remember that 3 weeks ago the Phoenix world was up in arms that we were
signing Scott Miller when there was absolutely nothing other than an
article like the JPDM one to suggest he had even applied.
Based on the responses we've seen to the ownership article it seems likely Rob is in Australia currently so he may be doing interviews and getting feedback on the shortlist options while there if he's meeting with other A-League owners.
Reading this makes me even less excited about Gombau.

Its an odd one, because he had such a great relationship with the players and fans at Adelaide, they all loved him. I think a) WSW are a much more volatile club who's fans are often cods, and b) not many of the squad were Gombau players, they were all signings made by Popa. If he does indeed end up here, he has the opportunity to start from scratch and really create his own team styled to his way of football. We've currently got half a team for next season, most of them being young or fringe players, and we have a lot of guys on big (ish) deals coming off contract, gives a new coach a bit of coin to play with. If not Gombau, is there anyone else of better fit or pedigree available? I'm not so sure

If those guys couldn't live with Kalezic, they won't cope with Gombau. Especially if Durante is still around.

... so you're saying that Ramon Tribuletx or Pep Guardiola told us?!?
Think whomever is hired it is time to make some tough calls and get rid of Durante, he brings little value as a player and is only going to be disruptive to a new coach needing to quickly change some attitudes and culture
Appoint another Captain -yes. Play Dura from the bench as a squad player - yes. I for one do not agree with unceremoniously dumping one of the A-League's most capped defenders or a loyal club stalwart and brilliant captain on and off the field. There is a team here that only needs a bit of adjustment, much better fitness, and better motivation that can win the A-League. We need to have a Coach that fits our values as well as our aspirations- we tried the other method VERY recently.
Hearing another coach will bite the dust tomorrow.

Kenny Lowe might be looking for a new gig tomorrow?
So, no one is happy with anyone who has been linked with the Phoenix
(apart from Scribbler and his love in with Sherman) :-)

I disagree totally. Dura has done a great job guiding Fox and Cacace into very good defenders. Defending is mostly about communication and Dura does that very well. He has had to contend with a real shark year -
a) having to play with four different keepers behind him, the relationship between the keeper and central defenders is crucial and Dura was the only constant.
b) having to play with Rossi, who 'should' have been our top defender, but played as if he'd rather be somewhere else.
c) being captain and having to deal with whatever was going on with Darije, Darije and Rado, then the coach being sacked.
d) Dura shows week in and week out that he is still up to the defending job as well
e) having a range of 'fullbacks' experimented with by the coaches, (e.g. Abbas, Parkhouse) and when they get into trouble, who has to sort it out? The centre defender.

All good points. It's impossible for anyone to perform in a defensive structure that is not organised and cohesive
Dura's been here through some tough years. So is he a victim of what is going on around him or part of the cause? I think the fact that he is a leader who has a huge influence on others makes us look at him a bit closer than we would the other players.
I sort of feel sorry for him. For a lot of his career, he could have picked any club to play for, but he stayed here. If he were at a bigger club he probably wouldn't be questioned like he is at the Phoenix.
