Yep great crowd amazing what happens when you market your product.

Lets hope they dont  resort to the early season efforts for the upcoming home games.

Phoenix FC are you listening to this?

TAB put on drinks at the Grand today to mark the start of their partnership.

How about they consider making this an ongoing promotion at every home game IF a Nix player scores a brace (or hat trick, etc.)?

Would be neat!ahmad2012-01-29 20:16:15

Thats not all the TAB did, some lucky buggars got free TAB $10 bets for a Phoenix win and some with Ifill as first goal sorer.

First 200 season members to present to the Concourse Bar got that - saw it on Twitter but where was it actually announced? The tweet said "remember that..." implying that season members had been informed?

Also, good to see the TAB hearing Gareth's message and doing their best to help attendance figures:

So we've signed some new Strikers then?

Two things:

1. The stadium caterers should be f**king sacked. It's bad enough normally but today between Aisles 13 and 12 was a total abortion. Guess what they ran out of within minutes of the half time break starting? Chips! Were they the only people in Wellington who didn't know 13,000 fans were turning up? So everybody just stands there waiting for the people at the front to get their chips (one of the managers turns up after about 10 minutes with a trolley load of frozen chips!). Nobody says anything like "we've got no chips just in case you don't want to wait or go somewhere else". Why not at least keep things moving by having a couple of tills for people not wanting chips? No, too simple, too obvious. Finally got back to my seat about the 55 min mark having missed Greenacre's goal. Should have walked away earlier I guess but got stuck in that psychological conundrum of will it be worse elsewhere, plus was f**king hungry. And before some smart c**t says "you should have eaten earlier" I had a f**king busy day, alright? Anyway, a bad look on an otherwise good day.

2. As I left I thought "why don't they have a ticket booth open after the games selling (discounted) tickets for the next home game?". Or even someone handing out vouchers for discounts on future games? Or even a take your ticket into Ticketek within a few days of the last home game to get a discount for the next home game type of deal?

I doubt you would get that crowd every week, however much you spend on marketing.

Good buzz in the office this morning about the game yesterday. Few first timers really enjoyed themselves, gotta start getting the word out for the next games. Hopefully club have something big planned for the last 3 home games of the season.

I told everyone that scantily clad promo girls were the way to go. Get them in nix shirts and put them on Lambton Quay handing out fliers before the next home game!

It may be misogynistic and not "family freindly" but you willl get a bunch of guys coming along because lets face it, guys think with their c*cks

Is that Gary Glitter euphemism?

I don't have too much trouble with the promo girls (just as long as it doesn't morph into cheerleading).  I share martinb's concern about TAB - gamblng sponsorship, but not to the point of annoyance (where i would use an "ignore" button) - more a bit of disquiet.

I saw them file next to the FZ during the game (1st half I think) and it seemed that the FZ concentrated on the game and didn't get too laddish with them.  Big Ups (ooh err!).

You shouldn't really eat chips, they're not good for you. Mrs GD always packs us a lettuce sandwich for a snack at the game.
I've got quite inventive at finding ways of biffing these whilst I go and buy a pie without her seeing......

Nostalgia isnt what it used to be...........

Hey so a lot people have mentioned the need to get the Nix into the social media marketing thing, I agree and reckon we oughta get into the iphone/android app business. There is an app which exists for the A-league in which you can select your team and I think its tied to the FFA but I think the phoenix should get one based on bums on seats and out sponsors.
Such and app could contain for easy reference:
-The ladder (check out how well we are doing)
-Schedule (to see who we beat next)
-Phoenix news
-information about promotions
-reminders about game day
-linked to Ticketec so you can get your tickets on a whim
-linked to TAB for betting purposes
-linked to and advertising space for our sponsors
-linked to the Phoenix bookface and twitter feeds
-use of app for promotions/special E-voucher discounts ect
-information about special club/member events
-highlights

What I would also like to see is for the players to use social media more to interact with fans, official player Facebooks? Seperate from their normal facebooks, probably at least half managed by marketing but as long as it looks like Dura's congratulated the crowd or made a celebratory post after a win who cares. Perhaps Video chat with Paul Ifill (or someone) as the owners did when they took over? More interaction with the fans can only be good.

I'm really just a perv looking for any excuse to perv (but not of the gary glitter variety)

however, I do honestly think that people are more likely to read a flyer handed out to them by an attractive young lady than to read a poster on a wall
