I would say winning at least 4 of last 6 games is essential.  Anything less - we'd need a lot to fall our way.

When you have to rely on others it is a pretty crappy way to achieve your goals.
I can't see us winning 4 out of 6.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Perth Glory FC (H)
Newcastle Jets FC (H)
Sydney FC (A)
North Queensland Fury (H)

That's four totally winnable games IMO... And an away draw with Adelaide is not impossible

Edit: I'll be at all four too. Dunno if that's a help or hindrance?

If we want (and deserve) to be in the Playoffs, then 4/6 has to be won. Simple as that.ScoobyD2011-01-09 23:03:57

Said-knee have looked pretty good lately though, hard to say that's one of our best chances for three points.

Fuck this stupid game

They have won one of the past 5 (including 4 losses) TL.

It's frustrating sometimes to be a fan of this team - we're the worst team in the A-League at picking up away points and all-time our away record is worse than our home record is good. Tonight again was a frustrating night where some 50/50 calls went against us (again) and we lost a game we could well have picked up something from.

Victory's 4-1 loss to Adelaide was another big talking point - Melbourne had a huge win streak going against Adelaide dating back to the major semi final in v2, but after being well beaten by us on Wednesday, they looked as bad today. At a point, I thought you could factor Victory being in the playoffs, and whilst it still may eventuate, another playoff berth is up for grabs for the meantime.

Newcastle trounced a pitiful NQF 3-1 in Townsville to come out of a banana-peel game in fine fettle. What's worse is that they then host NQF and will most likely trod on the Fury again.

Perth, one of our later opponents, looked alright against Brisbane and came away with a credible 1-1 result. Did Brisbane have their shocker on Friday or is one to come on Sunday? We hope. But Perth perhaps proved that they may not be the pushover they could well have been.

One game at a time fellas.

Sudnee made it back-to-back wins beating GCU 2-0, they beat the Jets 2-1 the round before.

AND next they have an out of form Victory, at home (who were handed a hiding by Radelaide)

Whats with Ifill? Hes been out for 4 games and I still haven't heard anything about him coming back? I thought it was UP TO 6 weeks.

bear in mind that 2 of those game have been in the same week, so he's only been out for
three-ish weeks

Then they got a second opinion and threw a cast on his leg. I think I heard 6 weeks rehab from cast coming off, but could be wrong there.

I don't know. I'd rather support a team that plays (generally) well at home, and sh*t away, than one that is inconsistent all over the place. The games that you really want to win are the ones in front of your supporters.

Not saying that it isn't frustrating to watch us away, just that we're not the MOST frustrating team to support IMO.

our runs isn't too bad....4 winnable games in there, homes games and the sydney away game..Adelaide and Brisbane will be tough away...but steal 2 points from those two, win the other four and we have a strong shot at 5th or 6th

Yeah theres no way you can come back after only 6 weeks from an injury like that. Ive had a couple over the last few years, both occurred early to mid season and both were season ending.

I hope at the end of this season we are not going to be left wondering what if? what if we had beaten the fury (like everyone else) Or won that 3-3 draw with Cold Roast ages ago.
Gotta win all these home games and pick up the odd point away.

It always seems like we're in the top half of the form tables... but the bottom half of the points table.

Are we just consistently average, or have I got some kind of selective memory when it comes to form tables?
Permalink Permalink

This season we have been consistently inconsistent.  That is why we are somewhat below average.

Last season we were consistently average until we spanked Smeltzy's boys and then went on to spank most of the other sides.

Unfortunately we are only in a spanking mood quite rarely these days (mostly just stern talking to moods),
